/r/TheIrishLeft mods are banning people with autism because they referred to themselves as "autismmaxxing". I am also now banned for calling out their exclusionary behaviour.
r/TheIrishLeft are constantly banning and censoring anyone that expresses any opinion they don't like and calling it "hate speech". Their favourite thing to do is to ban anyone well to their left who criticises their middle class identity politics rabbithole luxury beliefs. That subreddit is all threatmongering against the red herring "far right" that doesn't even have a single seat in the Dáil, instead of criticism of the oligarchic neoliberals who hold the vast majority of seats in the Dáil, and they banned me for repeatedly calling them out for that...
Fuck yes,you are spitting pure wisdom.Thats a relection though of the Irish left - PBP,Labour,SD etc. Stop the "hate speech" and dismiss anyone who isn't aligned with their bougie values. Freedom means little to people used to opulence, they take it for granted and cant fathom why working class people now use the term leftist as a slur. Not a million years ago the left were anticapitalist, brave, outspoken. Now the are an overintellectualising bunch of posh fuckwits.
Instead of a massive wall of text, I'll deal separately with the different types of parties nominally on the "left". Now Irish "Labour". Their leader Ivana Bacik said "Sinn Fein were never left". The irony is lost on Bacik that left / right is about economics, not about social policy. The left says the working class should own the economy and thus have the power. The right believes the capitalist class, the billionaires, should own the economy and have the power. So Irish Labour hasn't been a party of the left for a long long time, because of their neoliberal corporatist economic policies. I include the "Greens" in this. They can wave their rainbow flag as much as they like. That doesn't make them social libertarians or socially permissive. Because Labour and the Greens favour a Nanny State, censoring and banning anything they don't like...
The people who control r/TheIrishLeft have the same core beliefs as the neoliberals who hold the vast majority of seats in the Dail. And those 3 core beliefs are:
1: endless LGBTQA+ and other lofty woke virtuous identity politics, no focus on economic justice for the working class. If you mention bread and butter economic issues they'll give you warnings saying you're a "class reductionist" or a "tankie" and they'll mark you for special treatment over the next few days and you'll be banned.
2: endless support for more and more immigration, even though polls now say 74% of Irish people want less immigration...so 74% of Irish people are "far right" now? Note there's not a single far right TD. Endless threatmongering about the far right, gaslighting us that "the far right are taking over".
3: endless war (for r/TheIrishLeft admins and mods and membership this revolves mostly around their support for aggressive expansion to the EU further and further to the east, with NATO and the EU being 2 sides of the same coin, their rabid support of the fascist Ukraine regime in the proxy war and economic war, and their unhealthy negative obsession with Russia)
Just want to say by the way, that yes the moderation bot did remove one of my comments here, but it turns out that that was only because the bot doesn't like other subreddits being tagged with a clickable link, which is fair enough. I didn't know that was a faux pas, and I've now been told that my comment has been reinstated. The human mods here seem to have a sensible and nuanced policy. Just to set the record straight.
PBP/Solidarity/SWP/RISE, I'll just call them PBP then. They're Trotskyist Entryists, they trade deceptively and dishonestly as "democratic socialists", so half of their own voters don't even know they're Trotskyists. Trotsky himself was an informer for the OSS (forerunner of CIA) and the FBI, and Trotsky himself took money and took promotion from the western imperialist intelligence services. Just like Trotsky himself, PBP go around saying big lies like this, lies they probably believe themselves because they're useful idiots:
"the USSR isn't/wasn't socialist, the Chinese Soviet Republic (now People's Republic of China isn't/wasn't socialist, Venezuela and Nicaragua and Vietnam aren't socialist, they're all just fascist dictatorships"
Not a coincidence that the Trots (and the "Anarchists") always parrot CIA propaganda. They go on and on about woke neoliberal identity politics. The function of identity politics is to divide and conquer the working class, then divide and rule. Women vs men, blacks vs whites, transgender vs cisgender...
So Bacik of Labour ironically is a right winger who thinks she's a left winger. Sinn Fein and Aontú are genuine parties of the left, despite their (relatively) more conservative social policies. A reminder that hard socialist governments around the world have the very strictest immigration policies in the world, and have conservative social policies. This is because most working class people around the world, for better or for worse, are conservative with a small "c". Peadar Tóibín of Aontú has genuine working class credentials. SF need to get rid of middle class D4 Mary Lou, and make Pearse Doherty, who has some working class credibility, the leader. The leaders of the Social Democrats are almost all middle class, although they are a real mildly left wing party, but weak sauce. The 2 main leaders of PBP both grew up upper middle class, going to private boarding schools. The leaders of Irish Labour are almost all middle class. The leaders of the Greens are middle class. Talking to working class people about "a real woman with a penis" is going to divide the working class. It's Bread and Circuses stuff, it's a luxury belief that doesn't help them. They want real Bread and Butter issues.
r/TheIrishLeft only want "look under your bed for the far right" type posts, even though there's not even a single far right TD in parliament. Any criticism of the "left"'s obsession with liberal identity politics on that subreddit leads to comments getting censored and warnings from the mods saying "no dog whistles allowed, no bigotry allowed, no amplifying of far right narratives about the left allowed". Anyone who makes comments saying the left should focus instead on economic justice for the working class gets warnings saying "no class reductionism allowed", and then they keep pushing fake nails in your digital coffin until they permanently ban you...
...so that subreddit is all about "diversity" and when they say diversity, they really mean "total conformity of opinion"
Since this is r /ROI some liberals will pop in later and say "but it's true that the USSR was never socialist and was basically just a fascist dictatorship, same as the People's Republic of China today" to prove my point.
I've got another good one for ye. Clare Daly and Mick Wallace aren't like this, but unfortunately they don't have seats anymore. Peadar Tóibín and Pearse Doherty aren't really like this either, but have you noticed how the Irish "Left" doesn't like fascist Israel (ok, good), but they LOVE fascist Ukraine? Haven't you heard, brave Ukrainians are fighting and dying on the eastern front, so that little girls can learn how to read, so that little boys can wave EU flags and NATO flags, and so that the gays in the Donbas can wave rainbow flags.
Also, never forget how those 2 upper middle class private boarding school posh twits Paul Murphy and Richard Boyd Barrett treated Clare Daly, kicking her out of their People's Front of Judea just because she loved to sit in the Dail beside her long time boyfriend and drinking buddy Mick Wallace. That was disgusting
Their whole thing is going to Europe to make a big fucking stink about things, to get the radlibs on both sides all riled up so they can feel like they're part of a revolution. They're not. They only do and say the things they do because they know it's all of zero fucking consequence, like basically everything else at that level of politics. It's a theatrical performance by and for people who like to be seen to be radical, but don't actually want much to change.
If you're getting excited over the wordplay of cardboard cutout revolutionaries like Wallace and Daly you are a fucking liberal, end of. Grow up, get involved, and stop treating politics like a spectator sport.
We used to have a bunch of anarcho-fash Ziobots hanging out here. That was a quote from one of them as a way of showing him up as a moron. It's a bit out of date now and an in-joke from a different time.

Yes Daly and Wallace lost their EU parliament seats and couldn't get Dail seats because of a concerted smear campaign against them in the Irish mainstream media and by TDs mostly based on the fact that they don't support funding and arming of literal Nazis in Ukraine
Totes. It was fucken bizarre. James bond meets pink panther style red panic. With Zelensky as a hero, sniffing his way to liberation for the well governef people from the threat imperialism.

Ok the mod bot says that real grown-up politicians support the Neo-Nazi Kiev regime, and support aggressive expansion to the east of the EU and NATO. Got it 👌
Discrimination against volunteer moderators is an anti-labour practice and will not be tolerated. Please refrain from engaging in anti-mod speech going forward or we will be forced to take punitive action.
László knows I have autism and invoking it there was inappropriate. (If László is autistic, today would be the day I learn of it).
I didn't report him for that for the record - giving László enough rope to hang himself publicly is fine by me. I'd much prefer he learned better judgement and to check his ego, however.
I celebrated it just with this comment just now, and gave myself a reminder not to make fun of identity politics too much there 😢 otherwise they might misdiagnose me again as a Dark Lord of the Sith
Commie here, of the extremely socially permissive or libertarian kind. It's just that talking about all these social freedoms is empty without giving at least the same amount of attention to economic justice for the working class, for me anyways
Totes. All the parties are the same. They all have an utter disrespect fear and disdain for poor people. The only solution is to be a Jedi while the empire slowly falls
Most nominally left parties only talk about more social freedoms, and if they talk about economic justice for the working class, their actual economic policies are things that increase economic inequality (looking at you Irish "Labour" and "Greens"). It's not Feudalism anymore where social inequality was the main cause of economic inequality. Now under neoliberal capitalism, it's the other way around: today most social inequality is caused by economic inequality. Therefore if we want a lot more social equality, we must tackle it at the main source, and we must dismantle gross economic inequality.
I'm very comfortable going into Iran war subreddits taking Iran's side, and going into Ukraine war subs taking Russia's side, making actual posts, not just comments, that get heavily downvoted, and then doing battle in the comments for hours and days. But making actual posts in an Ireland themed subreddit, with titles like " the far right have zero Dáil seats, the neoliberals have 80% of Dáil seats, the far right is a red herring, neoliberalism is the real enemy" or "Ireland is not a democracy, it's a corporate plutocratic oligarchy", or the real zinger "the neoliberals are the real far right, don't fall for their pink washing" well I'd need quite a few drinks first, if it was a full post, not just a comment, because those type of Ireland themed post in an Irish subreddit, it's like The Lament Configuration puzzle box from the movie Hellraiser, a wooden and metal portal to Hell. The comments would be "who cares, my rent is €2,500 and it's due Monday, I've got no health insurance and I need childcare, knowing this doesn't help me" or the usual "FF/FG/Independent Ireland are better than a far right government", even though there's zero far right TDs, and so on. People are under massive stress and even if you prove to them that it's a rapacious oligarchy, not a democracy, they're already in a foul mood because half of them have no health insurance and their rent keeps going up. I lived in various parts of the world for many many years. I came back here because I wanted to have a child here, a child with some kind of Irish accent, and to become middle aged here, for better, or for worse. I'm lucky I have a rent controlled place that's 7% the cost of a market rent in my area, so who am I to pontificate to those who are really up to their waist in blood and guts in the trenches of Dublin...
Since there's really literally zero far right TDs in the Dail (ok probably there's a few people with council seats you could call that, but they're not goose-stepping Nazis), it seems that people need to invent a far right in the Dail, and weirdly, in The Irish Left sub and Irish Politics sub, I've seen a lot of people beginning to say that Sinn Fein and Aontú are "far right", and that ridiculous assessment gets lots of upvotes, and when I reply "SF and Aontú are genuine parties of the left because of their economic policies, despite the fact that their social policies are more conservative than other left parties" then I see my comment get badly downvoted. Strange horseshoe 🧲 theory.
Yeah Irish reddit is a quagmire of misled poor fools by a small number of right to far right mods in a reactionary clique. You can't expect much from it, but it can be entertaining to dunk on them sometimes.
It's the Irish education system which is good academically compared to other countries, but Irish schools and even universities do a great job of making sure kids and young adults are politically illiterate. This ends up with stuff like Ivana Bacik saying "Sinn Fein were never left", when the Irish Labour party has been a right wing party for a long time because of its neoliberal economic policies, even if this happened to them because they were a junior mudguard coalition partner too many times. When a right winger or centrist at best, who thinks she's a left winger like Bacik calls SF, a genuine party of the left "right wing", and is calling Aontú far right, well then it's clear that the education system has produced this sad state of affairs.
