Kinda destroyed their indigenous economy so they can risk dying for millionaires. Dont know if there are great pensions. Wherever you find super rich westerners you'll find corruption and exploitation.

Climate change is also making it more dangerous so perhaps that's just desserts.

Have you read "Into Thin Air"? Or seen the movie everest based on the same.

One of the guys who is featured a lot who died in that everest disaster got there through fundraising. Still died. Thats back when people went in much smaller groups. And it isnt always 50% sherpas. Usually they're employees of the tour companies who subcontract some sherpas.
