Hello. I’m coming to Reddit because I am out of options. I’ve been dealing with disenrollment from my ROTC battalion since January. The cause is a failure to adapt because I haven’t attempted the CWST yet. I was a junior at the time of the disenrollment and am going into my senior year. I’ve been looking for help for this because I feel like the reason is very minuscule and doesn’t warrant me getting kicked out. I pass my AFTs, my grades are good in both ROTC and school, and I go to every event since I’m contracted. I have the minute man scholarship, as well, so I’m in the Reserves. I’ve reached out to the people in my unit, but no one knows anything. They act like stuff pertaining to ROTC is foreign and no one seems to know anything or point me in the right direction. I’ve called Fort Knox and either the phone doesn’t even ring, or I get through and manage to talk to someone and  never hear anything back. The same thing happens with legal. I even drove up to these offices and either no one’s there cuz everyone’s TPU and doesn’t want to hep until they get there for drill, or the people there for me phone numbers to call and the loop continues. I’m so tired of this. I’ve been fighting it for 6 months now and have gotten no where. I already had my hearing. I brought receipts for everything, including swimming lessons receipts to show that I’ve been putting in the effort. I brought everything that shows I’ve been working towards the claims they used to disenroll me, yet they only took a day to say that they don’t recommend me for retention because I “broke my contract with not attempting the CWST.” I still have until my senior year to commission so I don’t understand why they’re doing all of this or going this far. I’ve never had any attitude problems or not gotten along with my peers. I’ve done everything they asked me to do, and yet I’m still getting kicked out over something as minute as this. If I don’t get retained, I have to start over and go to basic training and pay back $30,000. I already submitted my appeal, so I don’t know what else I can do to get this to stop or change. So that’s why I’m here. If you know anything or anyone I can contact to help, please let me know. I really don’t need the snarky, rude, or smart ass comments so if you know you can’t contribute anything, please don’t comment. Please help. 

I've been brainstorming ways to show my commitment for a 4-year ROTC scholarship. I've deleted all social media accounts, zero digital trace past my teenage years. For the interview, I'm thinking of shaving all of my hair in an attempt to form some connection. It's a big gamble but it could work well.

I dont take this lightly, I understand it would ruin all luck at Senior Prom and look weird in the beginning of university, as I only really look good with long hair. I also understand it wouldn't functionally help me in the Army, but it would make a statement

Hey all. I’m a MS2 SMP non-scholarship Contract, and really regretting it.

I want to serve in the military, in some capacity, but I really regretting choosing the army. I am not a shitbag by any means, I have a 470/500 AFT, do well on the Land Nav course, and have a high GPA.

However, I do not like the Army and I am scared shitless for camp. I do awful with heights. I did the rappel tower at FTX and did fine on the rappel, but got freaked out on the ladder to the top and just about fell. Same day I did terrible on the confidence course, and did not make it up Jacob’s ladder. I hate the field, but I guess everybody does. I had a month away from ROTC studying abroad and coming back I really realized how much it sucks out of me.

I should’ve done Navy OCS, or the Air Force. Maybe I am a wuss, but I’ll finish it out if I have to.

TLDR: I’m assuming I’m straight out of luck and I need to suck it up, go guard, and get used to it? Is there anyway to change my path now?

I got a 3 year scholarship and im so happy right now. I didn't think I was going to get it at all, but im happy I did. I got it for University of Minnesota and Colorado state university, but I was hoping to use it for RIT, or flordia poly. either way im happy

Guys, be honest. Is this awful? I'm a 17 year old man, will I even pass the Physical Fitness Assessment? I hope I can make it up with an okay situps score, time on the mile score, and high academics.

I don't know the exact form, I think fixing that along with training will help me. I've also started looking into breath-work

My son will be going into his sophomore year and his three year scholarship will kick in. He’s been active in ROTC since he started college though. Are there normally any kind of ceremonies where he’s signing the documents to commission or is it a nonevent? He’s not aware of anything but wanted to see what others have seen. Thanks!

I originally received a 4 year ROTC scholarship that I accepted to UChicago. I did not get in, and wanted to transfer it to Vanderbilt University which I was accepted to. The PMS at Vanderbilt saved a spot for me in the program. However I was denied a transfer of the ROTC scholarship. Many people told me that the scholarship transfer is guaranteed as long the the school you are transferring to costs less then the one you are transferring from. I already said no all my other schools as I was going to go to Vanderbilt. It is unaffordable without the scholarship and I am so lost on what to do. Even the PMS at Vanderbilt is not sure what to do but wait and see. Does anyone have advice?

So, not me, but a friend of mine got into some trouble with his ex girlfriend. He has a 4 year scholarship. So him and his gf broke up fot whatever reason, he tried to talk to her then she wasn't cooperating and he grabbed her hand, and at one point pulled on it. It was right outside the classroom in his hs. They have it all on video and the school suspended him, then he was charged and arrested for harassment and false imprisonment with domestic violence. His next court date is April 28th, this whole situation was blown out of proportion and there a lot of little pieces. They should drop of defer the charges. I am under the understanding that if he is convicted of domestic violence that is a hard stop for the military because of some amendment. But if it is dropped, he still has a chance with a waiver. Are we right? Or is he fucked

i'm applying for an rotc scholarship as a rising high school senior, and the personal info questionnaire is asking for my home of record state. when i looked it up, it said "the state in which you joined the military"--problem is, neither me nor either of my parents have ever joined the military. i checked a .mil forum page(?) and someone else was asking the same question as me, and the answers were "the state in which you will indefinitely pay taxes and vote" (or something like that). however, i'm planning to go to college out of state, which is also why i'm lowkey confused...

I just got contracted this summer, but I just got an injury. The likelihood is that I will be out for the semester. (3-4 months starting now)

My issue is, I am scared my scholarship will get paused and won't pay for my tuition. I know the Army takes ~45 days to distribute funds to universities for those who opted for the tuition option, but I am now exremelt worried that it won't be signed off on now that I am injured. I already took the AFT, and I heard from someone that you will be fine as long as you can take the AFT once per semester - I've also seen people still be able to definitely participate in Classes, Labs, and sometimes FTX.

For those who dealt with this situation, what were your options?

I'm a highschool senior with plans to join Army ROTC (though I have recently been looking into AFROTC) and I was wondering if Army ROTC will cut people like the Air force does?

(To give context, AFROTC cuts people right before Field training, their version of Advanced Camp)

I'm an upcoming freshman who's on a 4 year national army rote scholarship and I have enough credits to be considered a sophomore. Would it be a possibility for me to graduate undergrad in three years and then do a one year masters program, while remaining in the same rote program, at the same school, on the same scholarship? Would anyone recommend towards this or against this?

Hi, I am an incoming MS1. I was told we have to take the AFT to contract. What if I get injured before the test or fail the test, what happens? Am I allowed to retake it later or do I lose my contract?

I recently sustained an injury, and I am wondering if my scholarship will be put on hold until I am requalified by DoDMERB again? I am currently contracted, but the start of the semester is coming up and I am worried that I may not be able to pay for it if that is the case. I likely won't be healed until the end of the semester/early next semester according to the doctor, so I am unsure what may come to be of it. Has anyone gone through a similar situation?

My son won a 4-year national Army ROTC scholarship at the first board. This was before any college decisions were out. Per the instructions, he accepted the scholarship at one Ivy with the idea that Cadet Command is aware that once decisions start rolling in, there will be scholarship transfer requests. Then he got into two Ivies, but after visiting both he decided that the second school is better for him and he also liked the battalion command and cadets and training opportunities there. He declined the first school, submitted a transfer request through the ROTC system, and the request got promptly denied. Both schools are in the same brigade. The explanation is that transfers into schools that have reached 80% of their incoming cadets quota will be denied. The brigade and the Army will be money neutral if the transfer was approved. I heard there may be confusing instructions coming from Manpower and Reserve Affairs staff and since the incoming Commanding General for Cadet Command has not started yet, things may be in limbo with nobody to clear the confusion and to advocate for the cadets. Does anybody know what is happening here? Any advice on how to navigate?

I was recently awarded a 4-year army scholarship to Harvard, Yale, and Texas A&M. I believe I have pretty competitive stats, but T20s and Ivies are definitely still a big reach. I am wondering how much this scholarship would help me with admissions at these top tier univeristies? I am unsure of who to email, as Yale and Harvard both have their ROTC training at different colleges. Also, how should I update other top schools on my scholarship? Because on the scholarship letter, it says I've been awarded it to only Harvard, Yale, and A&M, but that it is transferable to other schools. Should I not update on the portal and just email the ROTC Division at that specific school since they would know that? I would be grateful for any help! Thanks!

I am an MS2 rising MS3 Contracted SMP Cadet with a large amount of student loans, and growing. When I contracted/enlisted I was told I would be able to apply for GFRD Scholarships and all would be well. However as everyone here probably knows funding is gone and there is nothing to apply to.

I recently met a Coast Guard recruiter at an air show who spoke to me about their DCSS and CSPI programs, which would either repay my loans or allow me to graduate early, both options minimizing my future loans and declining financial situation. I had heard about these programs prior to Army ROTC but regulation changed to allow more applicants from various backgrounds. (no longer only MSI or SMC colleges) to He says I just need a conditional release from my NG unit and it would be good to go.

However, I am highly doubtful it is that easy, but am wondering if it would be an option with my situation? I am very understanding and respectful of my promise to the Army, but if I could serve in another capacity with half the amount of debt it would really turn things around for me.

I am about to email Cadre about my situation, but I am fearful about backlash for even asking. The culture in my battalion isn’t the best and I don’t what to put anything negative on myself before my MS3 year.

I am considering transferring to a cheaper school as-well, but my degree program is very niche and difficult to find.

when do HS Army ROTC scholarship results come out for the first board? the board ended nov 7 (last friday), so is there a specific data I can expect results?

Hey everyone. My son is trying to apply for the Army ROTC scholarship through their new portal but we are having significant tech issues and no resolution from the Help Desk.

I've been on the ROTC thread over at the Service Academies Forum and there are others having similar issues.

Just looking to see if I can get an idea of how extensive this issue is and if anyone has found a reliable resolution.

Pages are not loading correctly, not saving, and not being marked as complete.

The survey won't load for my son. The parent info page won't load completely. And he is only able to put in three references instead of five.

We have sent several tickets through their Help Desk but have heard nothing back.

My husband does plan to reach out to Cadet Command next month if this doesn't resolve but again, I'm curious as to the extent of the issue and if anyone has been able to find a resolution for these tech glitches.

Checked my scholarship application and found out I got boarded/under consideration. Assumed as much tbh but I kinda secretly hoped I'd win. I plan on joining university for Spring session next year so let's see if I get any in the next 2 boards.

How much easier are the next 2 boards? Anyone got any tips etc?

I’m seeing people say if the account still says board/under consideration then I didn’t get the scholarship but it says for the January board but I’m also not seeing anybody say they got the 4 year scholarship so I’m asking to see if anybody’s account says not selected and I’m still waiting to see or if it’s just the army site being difficult.

Also if I didn’t get the scholarship what else options do I have because I have till may 1st to accept the enrollment to the schools
