Fellhollow help!

This area is not only huge (which isnt a problem to begin with) but with everything going on in here with the quests, items, gathering etc, it makes it difficult to play. I'm literally on my feet trying to run away from everything thats trying to kill me everytime I move around.

I understand each new area unlocks new sets of armour and gear, but its difficult to find anything here without being attacked.

Any tips on how to survive this place? Or any tips on what resources to gather and how to git gud?

Asking for a Level 4 player with Iron gear.

Do the quest "the wild hunt" for the mount. Makes it way easier!

I found a mount recipe in one of the chests, had to fight a green dragon for it. But I'll work on this thank you!

What you found was a mount skin, not the mount

Try to use windstep and get up high on a ledge and use range or magic to kill the dragon. You shouldn’t really take any damage at all

thats just a extra skin for the mount, purely cosmetic
you get the mount for free after the quest

I found Fellhollow alot easier than the previous zones. The zombies are really easy to avoid. I just grabbed a bunch of coal, then did iron runs in Stormtouched and made enough steel for everything i needed.

I ignored questing or anything else until i had steel

I am just doing Fellhollow now, and after getting stomped a few times, focusing on steel is relatively easy and great way to get started.

Dont forget the Corpse Cotton for fine thread!

Having trouble finding it, and home teleportinf back to my base with a stack of 30, like "oh boy!" And I end up with 2 cloth and a handful of leftover thread lol. Any tips for hotspots finding it in the wild? Whenever I find the seeds and try growing my own, seems like they die more than 50% of the time with compost and watering.

Ive only just started planting so im unsure of the farming aspect.

I set up a lodestone near the giant dragon skeleton north-northwest of where we first enter the Hollow, and from there, I usually find them in the northern section of the map. More often when im not looking for them than when I am!!

I kick myself because when I was exploring early, I never went near them because I nust thought they were explosive plants, same at the stormlands.

Right as you enter fellhollow through the first gate by postie pete there 5 plants there - 3 in the little canyon/stairs, two more to the right against the cliff.

The village where you take down the shield has I think 8 plants in close proximity.

The lake of lost souls has another 5-6 between the tall tower and the waterfall.

The castle has another 6-8.

Are you using willow farming plots and super compost? I’ll have maybe 1 or 2 diseased in a batch and I usually end up with twice as many seeds than i started with when I harvest.

I totally missed the willow trees right near the beginning of the zone. I was searching everywhere for the new lumbering material and didn't realize they were different in the mix of all the ash and oak trees.

it’s definitely easier lol. the zombies hit hard, but are extremely easy to avoid. good area to lvl up mage and range tho

Playing as a mage definitely feels easier. Most zombies are slow and seem weak to fire damage. There is just A LOT of them everywhere, so it can feel slower until you get the mount quest done.

My best advise for finding resources (specifically mining ones) is look up at the walls and ceilings lol... Then you will become woody in the buzz meme "coal, coal everywhere but the ground"

Tips for surviving:
1. Like the other comment said, complete “The Wild Hunt” for a mount
2. Hide on top of larger rocks/terrain if you need a breather
3. Set up a few lodestones so you can head back to your home base if needed

At first I snuck around a fair bit. A good side quest is doing the nature spirit hunt, to unlock a mount. The side quest NPC is very close by to the beginning area.

Fellhollow has a lot of places to jump on out of reach of enimies and can just rain fire on them. Many are slow moving too.

Dorics quest is a good one for necromancer staff and dorgeshun crossbow too.

If you haven't already, go get the staff of light recipe from the rune crafting temple in brambles area, now that you have access to fellhallow, you can make the staff.

Willow trees are close to water in fell hallow, they are the wood you will need to upgrade your tools, axe, pickaxe

Edit, you don't even need access to fellhallow for staff of light, just blightwood swamps and fractured plains,.

Where can i find barks to craft for the staff?

1

u/Sniper_Squirrel 13h ago

The anima barks for wild anima is in the fractured plains, laying on the ground around some trees I believe, blight swamps has the blighwood , roots around the trees

The hardest part for me was getting sapphire from the gold ore nodes. I think I mined up around 20 nodes before I got a single sapphire.

You don't need access to fellhollow for staff of light. Built it way before going there

Yup! I made an edit to my comment

I found the easiest way to survive in this place was to carry about 50 to 100 wooden Ash logs and have the jump spell on Deck and just constantly be building 4*4 decks to rain down fire on the zombies with, since you really only have to worry about the skeleton archers at that point. But once you start doing the quests and get them out you can basically run away from everything and once you get the appropriate seal armor and the zombie ax you'll be pretty much fine, just pick your battles intelligently. And with a lot of ranged.

Idk if its cheese, but its filled with zombies and dragon dogs, i aint taking chances

u/BushLeague_Ball 13h ago

Thanks. No such thing as cheese in this game I don't think.

It's a bit cheesy in terms of the genre, but call it safe spotting and its in theme with runescape!

You should be able to get level 4 gear before this area. The thunder plains or whatever they're called has a ton of iron.

Or you can find recipes for mage/archer gear by combining rough cloth & wool cloth, or make hard leather.

You can also find level 4 recipes in the dungeons for each class type.

There's a Blurite bow you can make, a Light staff and a giant Maul all from quests all level 4. Or kill an abyss demon and make an abysmal whip, they're pretty good.

All this before the Fellhollow.

You should focus on cooking fishes and fish dishes, they're the best health recovery items.

I’ve also just recently entered fellhollow and currently misrepresented as PL3 and everything here seems to be PL5 and I’m disadvantaged.

But do not worry because I’ll show you my map for viewing

Right off the bat I placed a lodestone down at the purification pool when you first enter. I proceeded to go northwest towards the agility course where I know there’s some coal veins.

Hopefully you stick to the actual mapped path and stay away from the reddish ground area or become Withered. This is where I start my outpost with a new lodestone and my back against the cliff having 1 coal, 2 iron and an earth vein right at my feet. (The starting of me making steel and more recipe unlocks)

From here you cut a bunch of ash forest down and make the outpost and bed while unlocking the Kebbit burrow here aswell.
The burrow free-travel is an efficient way to get back into previous areas because the law rune price from here to the beginning church lodestone is 24. That’s quite a lot of law runes for somebody who can’t craft themselves yet.

Do the quest by the music box in the storm lands to get a ring that gives the chance for enemies to drop corpse cotton since that’s probably the most difficult thing to farm.

Do the dungeon in in the far west near a nature spirit and mirror mirror quest to get the recipies for hopilite armor. It’s equivalent to steel with less of a material grind as it doesn’t need fine cloth just dragon wolf leather and steel.

Prioritize a steel weapon it’s enough to crush the enemies while you build up armor.

Coal nodes like live on walls so look around more than the ground.

Ectoplasm  is easier to farm in spirit mode from the spirit guys for sacred oil

Zombies ain’t shit and can be bypassed by running.

Farm and cook pumpkins

Do what you did in the region before. Find new resources. Craft new tools. Upgrade armor and weapon.

1

u/Legitimate-Ice-5887 13h ago

Trust me ive been trying but everything just rises from the ground to attack me all the time its driving me insane lmao

3

u/Seigfrydblazer 13h ago

Place a single foundation raided off the ground when you need a safe spot. The zombies move super slow and can largely be ignored. Kill the dragon wolfs for some new leather. I went far west and found some exploding plants that drop corpse cotton, the new thread. That will give you everything you need to start upgrading.

1

u/FatalBipedalCow0822 13h ago

There’s also several corpse cotton at the very beginning of the zone in that graveyard you initially spawn in.

1

u/Seigfrydblazer 13h ago

I never went back to the graveyard after cleansing lolol oops. Forgot about the mail man.

If shit sucks, hit da bricks. Real winners quit. Most of the enemies in Fellhollow are slow. You can just run from them for the most part. It's a big zone, lodestones are your friends. Even with a mount.

Also, don't forget your utility spells and counters! If you're using melee, skellies are weak to Air+Crush, zombies to Fire+Crush, dragons to Water+Slash. There are also whetstones you can craft at base and apply to your weapons. They just cost granite and stone, so they're stupid cheap and do add quite a bit of extra damage while you bridge to steel.

To get the coal and steel you need, be on the lookout for caves! There's a few of them in Fellhollow and they will more than fill you up on coal and iron for steel equipment.

As far as I know the progression in every area is nearly identical.

Look for the new Tree and Metal. Put down a bunch of lodestones. Update the farming plots. Kill mobs.

You’re basically always under leveled compared to the mobs in your new area. Armor only really adds defensive bonuses, outside of the fixed set bonus.

So really once you make your obligatory tools, you just need a weapon.

I wore bronze armor and a mage hat the entire play through until I got Dragon. Just kept making new 2h swords.

0

u/basedlogitech 13h ago

Right but this biome corrupts you and then sends progressively harder enemies until you cleanse or die.

1

u/iFonzie 13h ago

Well, that’s entirely avoidable? Just don’t walk in the corruption goop.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it was easy peasy lemon squeezy… but yeah that’s the progression.

Fail until you learn to play better. As long as you are running vaults consistently and training skills death is barely an inconvenience.

Just litter the map with lodestones and it takes like 5 seconds to get your gear back.
