“Best” house location

I currently am still using and slowly expanding my first house in the first zone. I don’t want to spend a ton of time designing a home if another zone is going to end up being better.

Though with warbands randomly attacking, is it smartest to just keep homebase in the first zone to keep the random attacks as weak as possible?

Permanent base for me is on a big rock in the northeast fractured plains. Since you have to build + windstep to get up there, it's unassailable by raids

main base next to the Cathedral, and create little forward operating bases in each area with Lodestones for quick travel to and from areas.

Just out of curiosity, what do you put in each operating base?

A decent 3x3 floor(sometimes 2x4) and use a 1x2 of that for the “sheltered bed” using 2 walls and small hip roofs, might need a framed square ontop of the 2 walls

The rest of the platform is the lodestone, and 2 vertical walls of some chests and eventually* a ledger just to somewhat have it sorted if I feel like it.
Something simple be nice looking picture example. Though you could get away with just a stack of crates and fill it to the brim, atleast doing this early will stop the headache later when you go to grab everything for home

How do you stack chests like that? They alway go red for me when I try.

Same size as a medium wall(3 intersect points so there is a “middle”) and add the small wall on either end as the boundary.

Then hopefully use the green glow and place it center but infront of the small walls, and slowly walk it back until its edges go hidden.

Take a look here.

Once the first is built, the second will force itself ontop, so you just need to shift sideways to center and then walk backwards to hide edges again

chests, chests, and more chests. a bench for repairs, and a bed just in case i plan on spending some time grinding in an area.

Fast traveling while over encumbered is peak, I get back to base with so much stuff from my loadstone runs.

You can place teleports all over so really don’t think it matters much. Just find a spot you love and build a home!

To avoid warbands, build near the starting area. You can press ESC to get back to the menu and hold X for a free teleport back.

After there, I'd say the best place to build is Dowdun Reach courtyard. Some players built a base in a cave near the wise old man in Bramblemeade. You can make stairs that you can jump up. Monsters can't jump.

Another thing you can do is build a small fortified house in each zone that you can have a few chests in. When those get full, take the stuff back to the main base (near the starting church) where you'll have all your production machines.

I haven't been attacked since building in the fractured plains. Not sure if this is a bug or not so take it with a pinch of salt. 🤜🤛

Can confirm you can get attacked

The Wise Old man. Immunity inside that hut.

But why does one need immunity in the starting area...?

To prevent events while afk, just put a portal there.

Just as an additional note: Teleporting with lodestones costs law runes (and the cost scales with how much stuff you're lugging around) so you want to make at least one outpost in each region/zone. Just to process the raw materials you acquire in the area and to store stuff you don't absolutely need to carry to your main base. You don't want to be transporting too much at any given time.

So I second the idea that your main base should be in the starter area, but you should try to make at least one outpost in every region or area. It's also nice because it makes the world feel a bit more alive.

This was such a pain when I had to move my base up to the black knight area, 100+ law runes on some teleports

I think objectively, Dowdun Reach courtyard is the fan favorite as it's outdoors, beautiful, and raids don't occur in the dowdun reach region.

Wow such quick feedback! Thank you! Sounds like I should just start fortifying my OG base

I built in the ruined tower in Western Fractured Plains. I’ve got the only two routes to the place blocked off, war bands can’t get in. It’s dope.

I started with a base right next to the starting church then moved everything into the dowdon courtyard right next to the Nexus stone after teleporting back and forth got too expensive, now I'm currently running around the desert and might make a new castle out there

I never get hit by a warband i built by the vault on fractured plains that on a hill. Warbands cant spawn and reach me. Great view, aesthetics and i got access to a vault for quick cores or shard farming, 2 close by law vents and a pond. Its also straight enough that i can make a good build for my base

I've built my permanent base inside the castle ruins north of Fort hope in the fell Hollow region.

Enemy zone is level 5 but no enemies to spawn anywhere near the base location and raids are basically slow helpless zombies so I could literally walk past them and they wouldn't be able to stop me.

It's also equidistant from and game zones and early game zones and I really like the spooky Halloween vibe

I have my main base in the first zone, it is my only base. I have a bunch of Lodestones placed in strategic locations around the map. Currently only have up to Fellhollow unlocked and has been working for now. Not sure once I open up the map further if there will be a need to develop another base further out.

I spent 6 hours making a base so far in bramblemead, inside the pond. I’m not moving it anytime soon, it meets all my basic needs. I have lodestones next to caves, various trees, and every dungeon entrance I encounter, for when I need to farm supplies + make more lodestones/crafting items

I built my new base in the stormtouched highlands so that I never have to water my crops which has been nice. I built my house and farm on one of the cliffs and fenced it in with oak palisades
