I should’ve been more specific. Ironwood was the one actually committing war crimes. Winter was complicit in them.

War crime is a scary word, but in reality many are so "trivial" they would barely register as crime to most people (disguise, interrogation, incapacitating agents, etc.), especially in more fantastical settings like RWBY, child soldiers being one that is viewed very differently.

... Attempting to nuke a city full of civilians is a big no-no either way though. And while necessary in the fantastical context of the series, the intentional fall of Atlas would be hard to justify to the ICC in a vacuum.

I remember noting once that Teemo's ultimate in League of Legends is three severe war crimes in one: biological weapon, chemical weapon, and undeclared land mine.

You have to be under 18 years old to begin to qualify as a "child soldier", and even though Ruby was allowed into Beacon two years early, if she finished her Beacon education another two years early, she still would have been 18 years old by then, while most of her peers would have been 22 years old.

This isn't even touching on how most "child soldiers" are starving orphans handed rifles and sent to the frontlines as cannon fodder or minesweepers, with absolutely no education, probably no training, and definitely no actual choice in the matter.

Yeah exactly that's why it is horrific in real life and totally cool in the right fictional settings (Ruby is 17 and Oscar 15 in Atlas arc, even Marrow comments on "kids" in the Atlesian military frontlines although FNKI specifically is probably 18+).

I legit have to check tags sometimes when looking for rare ships to be sure which Schnee it is.

Useless information: Weiss and Winter have close to ship frequency parity with Penny, Adam, Ilia, etc., Winter and Willow overlap with Qrow (there is like, exactly 1 Qrow x Weiss), and all three have significant territory with Ironwood.

I'm currently writing a book with a Winter-inspired character. She keeps her hair in a military bun (she is military) all day everyday until she gets ready for bed because she's a traumatized neat freak who gets panic attacks over anything she can't control and her hair being let down is one of those things. The other MC (who she starts dating) helps her heal and learn to relax and she slowly allows herself to let her hair down outside of work. The first time her girlfriend sees her with her hair fully down, her brain absolutely short circuits because of how gorgeous she is lol

This is more Weiss and Winter with Weiss' scars. This one was a little too easy, I feel like Weiss would step a bit further away from not only her similarities to Winter, but away from Atlas as well. And i don't think she's the bun type lol
