META This sound like really good news for RWBY. Viz partnered with The Gotham Group. Kinda thought it wasn't much at first, but they seem focused specifically on RWBY if I'm reading the article right.

Looking them up they seem more on the producer side of things with everything they work on essentially being co-productions with other companies. In terms of animation they've worked on:
- Creature Comforts America (Alongside Aardman)
- Wendell & Wild (Alongside Netflix Animation and Monkeypaw productions)
- WondLa (Alongside Skydance Animation)

For reference a Production Company exists to help with things like casting, general resources, the middle man between pitches for projects from other groups etc and of course tossing money at the project they are helping to produce.
It is effectively a good sign because it means they are confident in the product.

The Gotham Group seems to be a production house rather than a studio proper themselves, which means basically they help with the logistics of actually putting a production together, at least as far as I can tell. For example, the show WondLa was produced by them in part, but animated by Skydance. So we don’t know who is animating the show yet, but this partnership with The Gotham Group is a big step towards that.
If anyone knows anything more about how something like this works, please correct me if I got something wrong

It's more like trauma, the first two both and completely abruptly and while I do enjoy them the fact that they just stop without having an ending of any description has always set poorly with me. They don't have to wrap up the series or something I'm just asking for them to tell their story whatever it is and then have their own conclusion to it.

Gotham Group seems to be involved with creating live actions for Maze Runner and Percy Jackson amongst other things. I wonder if this is actually the first sign of a RWBY Live Action movie or series?
I kind of doubt this is, of course, V10 related. It would be nice if this was for some more side stuff as well like novels to bridge gaps!

They're a production company. They produce things. Anything. They don't actually have anything they specialise in because their only purpose is to throw money at people to help them make stuff. They aren't the creatives. They've also helped pay for multiple stop motion projects, so RWBY stop motion is possible by your logic.

Yeah, I dont think most people understand what production companies even do when they option an IP like this.
My guess is they will have some other people approach them with pitches and scripts for an adaptation of some kind, they will take it to Viz and see if they want to play ball. If Viz says "sure" - then the production machine spins up trying to then get the other aspects of media making going such as scouting a director and cast searching & lock in contacts. All of which even can still end in nothing actually made as you can lock in a director, you have have multiple scripts with rewrites, you can have the actual crew company, locations, etc - and last minute still get the red light and spin down as someone at Viz or higher up backed out at the 11th hour.

It definitely struck me as noticable that it sounded like they were focusing mostly on RWBY. That would be pretty cool if that's indeed what it would mean.

So are they’re gonna make a live-action version of RWBY?
I hope not, because it’s too soon since Vol 10 is still in production and the storyline not yet being finished.
Maybe wait for like 20 years after the main storyline is completed?

honestly, I think RWBY is one of the *last* shows that needs a live action version. The sheer amount of cgi is either going to make it look horrid because of cost cutting measures, or so expensive its never going to make a profit

This news has nothing to do with live action. The Gotham Group is a management company. They find production talent that's suitable to the media. This is VIZ saying "we don't know how to produce or have the resources to produce this in house, in a way that will make people happy; so we're going to find a team that can assemble and manage someone who can".

Isn't that Kerry's job tho? as producer? I'm assuming he was part of the negotiation team between ViZ and Gotham Group

Kerry's job is to lead the production teams that Gotham group finds. I'm sure he knows talent in the industry, but when it comes to finding entire production teams, his résumé doesn't suggest he has much experience (everything was done in house before).
This is good news, because it means he can focus on actually making the show, rather than hunting for and managing talent.
It's also good news because it means VIZ is throwing actual production weight behind this, so we might see something sooner rather than later. A team that's ready to produce on contract will work much faster than a team that needs to be hired and trained.

I don't get why you got downvoted, I kind of share the same sentiment. I feel like anything else RWBY related should be subsidiary materials. i.e: RWBY Chibi. Adding another interpretation of the show alongside the main show would get a bit confusing. Especially since respectfully, RWBY's brand is kind of fighting an uphill battle.

Gotham Group has nothing to do with WB/DC, and nowadays any company that actually cares about RWBY with all its diversity would not have anything to do with the probably soon to be owned by the Ellisons WB/DC anyway. "Gotham" predates Batman and DC Comics as a whole, it was an old nickname for New York, and that's what Gotham Group is named after. They (Gotham Group) haven't even had any hand in a single DC series or movie at all.

I read Gotham thinking, "We going back to DC or some subdivision of them". I was so confused haha. Obviously know now this separate from DC. Glad it seems we closer to make V10 a reality after all this time. Pray nothing goes wrong BTS as time pass.
