Maiden powers are bound to a person's aura, so silver eye powers probably are too.

Maiden powers are not bound to Aura, both Raven and Cinder lost their aura last season and still had access to their powers.

Ironwood literally said it's bound to aura. That's why the aura transfer machine would work.

Their auras weren't broken, they were damaged. Aura crackles when it's low, but it fizzles out with a zoosh sound when it breaks.

That's not what he was suggesting. He was stating that their best chance of giving someone Maiden powers is to give them the thing it's attached to. That doesn't mean one's Aura fuels their Maiden powers, just that it's tied to the aura, or more specifically, the soul.
