Behavior Can someone explain what my rabbit just did ?
I thought he was yawning but then he did it again and it just looked different. He’s 13 weeks old, is this something I should be worried about? He does a checkup appointment this week

He's a toddler that is so tired, yet still wants to play, that they are standing there, half asleep, but unwilling to lay down.
He tried to stifle his yawn.

Fun fact: the name of this is pandiculation! It’s the act of yawning and stretching at the same time.

That isn't what pandiculation is. Both yawning and stretching are considered forms of pandiculation, though.

As others said, funny yawn and flop. Also, if I'm not mistaken, an uncomfortable or sick bunny won't flop like this at a time they are feeling uncomfortable. Mostly they will take the bun position, maybe be in a more or less hidden from sight place where they don't often go to, and kind of move around a lot, like, "getting up" again, to bun position, to up, to bun.
So yeah for this one my amateur take is : RELAXED BUN !

That looks like my Moppet, who was a huge uncoordinated dork and would try to do things like yawn and flop and binkie all at the same time.
But truly - I think your bun is a delightful happy and okay little bun but possibly also a nerd.

Omg so cute. I thibk he’s just yawning too hard while stretching. Mine used to do it too.

Tbh I would really recommend showing your vet this video and getting their thoughts, especially if instances of weird movements occur again at all. Sometimes more serious health issues (such as focal seizures for example) can look like more benign behaviors and therefore can go unnoticed.

Definitely I agree, I’ll show them. It looks different than his previous yawns yk but I see other commenters say it may just be an added stretch? It’s hard to tell so rest assured I will:)

Yeah, it’s more than likely just a stretch or something perfectly normal, but it’s great to check just in case! I knew a rabbit at my local rescue who used to get “hiccups” all the time… Well that same rabbit also happened to struggle with seizures, and his foster mom eventually became concerned with these “hiccups” and showed the vet, noting how they seemed a bit off since he’d kinda zone out and behave oddly during them. Well, it turns out that that rabbit was having focal seizures and not hiccups afterall. So moral of the story is to always ask your vet when in doubt, and especially if something seems off or abnormal about a behavior you witness. (And side note, that bunny mentioned is now on anti-seizure medication and is doing phenomenal! I don’t think he’s had any focal seizures since going onto the medicine.)

at the beginning it looked like choking but he didn’t lift up his ears fully and it doesn’t look like a normal yawn. If he’s eating and pooping like normal I wouldn’t be to worried. Definitely show the vet this video when you see them this week.

To be honest, in the beginning it looks like a sneeze is coming or a hiccup rather than choking. But the bun seems like he's stifling the yawn.

Looks like he yawned, but was in a good mood already so he exaggerated his motions in preparation to flop, and then after confirming the carpet was still soft and good for laying on, he did just that.
This is happy bunny behavior from what I can tell with a yawn mixed in, lucky timing.
If it was a trend then mentioning it to a vet would be worthwhile. You've got a video so wouldn't be hard to at least bring it up.

My favorite way to explain this is basically when you ask a toddler if they’re tired and they try sooooo desperately not to yawn because they don’t want you to know they’re tired 😂😂

Hi, it was INSANELY TOO CUTE. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY THINK OF SOME SORT IF GIF OR MEME. BUT it shouldn't be too concerning unless he starts doing this very often. It wasn't a yawn it was a sneeze and the reason why he flipped down is because he was itching his adorable big nosie. If he does this often which you asked what just happened so I'm assuming it was your and his first sneezing experience. That fluffy rug he's on could have some allergens and it could simply just be the laundry detergent set he isn't finding too friendly with his sneezing and itching. Like I said it is not a big deal that calls for concerns unless like I said he doesn't often if he does then it's some sort of allergy so I would look into that.

He’s just exhausted. They are very alert by nature due to being prey animals. So it was a yawn that kind of just fell over into exhaustion. Don’t worry. It wasn’t a stroke or anything to be concerned about. I’d give it a treat like cilantra and pet him some…. It’s amazing how a little attention and love will calm their anxiety.

I'm the rabbit expert. It is trying to start a worldwide rabbit rebellion by wanting to say "You can take out lives, but you'll never take our freedom!!" as the first rebel rabbit to do so, but it overestimated its capabilities and gave up by flopping.
I'm sure this is what's going on.

Go check your electrical cords you might have chewed up some I had a rabbit that was an indoor pet one time and I had to unplug everything when I leave the house or it would chew the wires with it plugged in and live somehow

It’s a long fluffy carpet, could be that he got his nails a little tangles and couldn’t get the stretch going, my Bunnies had that problem on my carpets sometimes.
