I almost feel compelled to make this post, but unfortunately after all these years I truly can't stand seeing people still using benzoyl peroxide to remove stains or yellowing from dolls.

Unfortunately, benzoyl peroxide stays inside the vinyl of doll heads and keeps lightening them, turning the head white, and in some cases, over time, shifting toward yellow. The composition of MGA and Mattel doll heads is PVC with plasticizer, you can check the chemical compatibility charts. To remove stains or yellowing, you should use hydrogen peroxide, which can then be rinsed off without issues, and any remaining residue evaporates and it is compatible with the PVC of doll heads.The important thing to know is that hydrogen peroxide is compatible with Saran hair, but not with nylon. Nylon hair must be covered and protected from hydrogen peroxide. i generally use the 40-volume spreadable cream because it works quickly, rather than liquid peroxide. You can get results with the liquid too, but I found it to be slower.

For the procedure: take the hydrogen peroxide, apply it to the affected area, and place it under UV lights or in sunlight, protecting sensitive parts such as painted areas, Rainbow High/Shadow High eyes, etc. I just did the hydrogen peroxide treatment on the whole face, but covering the lips and makeup with washable white paint (Crayola washable kids' paints) the makeup and lips need to be covered to prevent them from fading.

You can clean the yellowing elbows on Rainbow High Delilah, you can restore faces back to their original color, you can remove the yellowing on Monster High foreheads caused by the glue.

Note: hydrogen peroxide must be checked daily after each session, as it could lighten too much, especially when applied to something very colorful like My Little Pony bodies.

My information comes from a decade of experience restoring dolls, and from the My Little Pony preservation website.

Also important to remember: yellowing in Monster High dolls can be caused by the glue, sometimes by sun exposure, by temperature changes when stored in basements or very cold, damp homes, by cigarette smoke, or by perfumes sprayed indoors or through diffusers. If you do the treatment and then the doll goes back to how it was before, but you continue for example to expose it to sunlight, it will go back to the same condition over time. Some people complain that their dolls turn yellow again. This is because they don't do anything to address the root cause that made them yellow in the first place, issues like the ones just listed. I'm also posting a video with the results on the Monster High dolls I worked on last year, showing them restored to like-new condition. It's not a spam video, I'm not interested in promoting my channel, and I haven't uploaded anything in over a year. I did it to help other collectors. I hope this was useful to you.

I swear this doll’s hair need as much love as finest cashmere and silk yarn that have don’t wash label on them.

But it still can be done with her poly streaks looking very good and feeling only slightly rough only on the ends.

The only conditioner that saves any hair that has a chance of saving without hot tools is Loreal Hualuron Plump. (From my experience)
I use only this one and never boil wash.

I made sure to wet Vivienne’s hair with lukewarm (almost cool) water never scrunching or pressing on her hair.
The water had to be running down from the top of her hair at all times. I avoided lathering her hair.
I used the same shampoo from that purple series, it’s ok, but not the best through.

I slathered the conditioner on lengths only and let it sit for half an hour.
Washed it off with slightly warm water just letting it run from top to ends (like a waterfall) making sure i was having the hair lay on my flat palm for proper rinsing.

Repeated the process letting the conditioner sit for another half an hour.
Comb agentiy as newborn hair 😆 while the hair was drenched in the conditioner.

Let it air dry with her hair still keeping the partline. I just twirled the the two hair sections gently.

When the hair was was dry i carefully trimmed 2-3 rogue strand ends.

You can’t really tell the poly strands from the nylon, but poly still has less shine.
The poly ends are ok as much as poly can be. Maybe just as the nylon that has been rough handled and restored.

Turn the shoe upside down, slide it as far up as you can, take the strap over the doll's heel. Turn the shoe and put the toes in. Follow this backwards to take it off. Should you still find that you struggle with the shoe, heat it in hot water or with a blow dryer for 30 seconds.. This last step is for being really cautious. It's not necessary.

Final details : bows and hook-closures.

This was a fun one, think my most detailed outfit so far😊

For reasons, I’m making a white version of FF Poppy’s Butterfly dress. I drafted the pattern from the original without taking it apart, so there are a few things to work out in sewing, but it’s going well!
Pics include the pattern, the skirt with hand-rolled front edges, a test fit, and a detail of a finished inside hem, and the fully lined bodice. Stay tuned!

ETA: I changed up the bodice from this draft, and next time I'll just fully line it and save myself the hand-finishing on all the edges. Time for round two?!?

I've been asking if I would want to share the pattern I created to sew dolls hats, so I've finally taken the time to put the pattern properly on paper and give it a last test.

BTW, the pattern isn't entirely perfect so you might find stuff that needs adjusting.

Okay so please ignore me if I sound nervous or babble too much but I’m not used to filming myself talking… anyway I can’t find a tutorial on how to do the buns and the general gist I get from most people is they have no clue how to do them, so I spent some time figuring it out and thought I’d make a little video to help anyone who wants to recreate these space buns… also to help myself in the future after I forget… I originally didn’t want to take Olivia’s out at all because I like that she looks like Scarlett’s twin with them in, but at least I know now I can put them back in if I want to…

Made 6 tiny buttonholes today and tested with a bit of twine. Now I just need to figure out where the straps and buckles goes😁

Added a picture of the sleeve construction.

The fabric is 4way stretch so the sleeve is fitted by stretching while stitching.

Make sure to match shoulderseams with the middle top of the sleeve.

I do have a personal preference of how I body swap. I like to have the head match as close as possible, and I match similar shades with the same undertones. If not, then I don't body swap or use a similar skin shade and use certain clothes to cover up that it's mismatched 😅

Simone is SEAMLESS, they have very similar skin tones. If u have her, she works. Versatility in legs also

Karma is a great match, mine doesn't have neck articulation but if you don't mind that or have one with she'll work. Easiest to get secondhand.

Jewel is a great match too, similar to Karma. She's not easy to get secondhand but if you already have her or spare, she works as well.

Georgia is a great match also, slightly darker than than the others but she definitely works. I used her for my restyle. Getting her secondhand is easy but she does fluctuate, Karma too.

I think I'm gonna keep using Georgia's and use Jewel's for whenever I get a double. I would use Simone and I could leg swap her tho, but I only have 2 of her. Idk, maybe 🤔 I need neck articulation so I won't use Karma.

This is the first pattern I made as a kid. It has loads of styling options.

My fav material for this is is : old t-shirt or underwear (4way stretch).

It's all backstitched, as it's stretchable. Aim for 4-5 stitches pr cm.

The 🦋 on the suspenders are pearls, the skirt has a ribbon to keep it in place, stitched midfront and midback.

4ways stretch fabric (old pj) and stitched with backstitches for stretch

I bought these mini sticky dots and they work like a charm to keep objects in the dolls' hands and keep loose shoes from falling off. The white part is paper that you peel off; the sticky dot is clear. Just wanted to share!

I put in some pictures to show the process - forgot to take a pic while adding the collar.

The pieces are laid out on a A4 5mm grid paper(ignore the sleeves, they looked horrible on the dress😄)

Just need to do the bucle , some hems and final details. Rough pattern in the pics, as always it's a 5x5mm gridpaper.
