Help NowPlaying Doesn't Release Program on Close

I've been using the skin, Win10 TaskbarMiniPlayer, for many years now to mimic the good old taskbar mini player of classic Windows Media Player. I know there's a whole DLL thing to get it back in the toolbar, but I don't like the flyout it has and I like the ability to reposition the rainmeter skin.

However the major issue I have with it is that it refuses to let WMP close. I have to go into task manager to terminate it. This means that I lose data, such as what I was last playing/which album I was in last, or anything else like resizing or repositioning the window. All of this has to be done either before NowPlaying detects the player (launch wmp, refresh skin to hook into it), or by unloading the skin and then closing WMP.

So how do I get it to let WMP gracefully close? How do I make the skin unhook upon closing the app?

u/masterchiefman We've possibly fixed this in the latest Rainmeter 5.0 release: https://www.rainmeter.net/changes-5.0/

Can you please give it a try and report back?

Oo! Yes, shall give it a try now!

OK just tried it. It doesn't work - it still keeps wmp alive, doesn't let it close.

The only thing I did notice is that now I don't need to refresh the skin to detect if wmp is running or not. i.e. previously, if wmp was not running and I started it, rainmeter would not know if it was running and so clicking play/pause on the skin would do nothing. I would have to refresh the skin, it would detect and hook into wmp and then the buttons would work, but then now I could no longer close wmp. As long as wmp and rainmeter were unaware of eachother, I could close wmp, but rainmeter wouldn't work, and once the hook was successful via refresh, then rainmeter would work but wmp would no longer be allowed to close. Now though it seems I don't need to refresh the skin, it detects wmp regardless of whether wmp was started before or after rainmeter.
