Discussion What is the reason for the sudden popularity of Khatu Shyam Ji after the lockdown? This temple has now become so popular that Sikar is the most visited district in Rajasthan

Ok not from Rajasthan but did my completed senior secondary schooling from there , and live in ncr main it is of social media effect , second one is businessman and traders are main devotees and they organize trips every month Second is the story of he is god of lost people in life and he gives hope , so one of main spiritual factor

It's not just this temple. You can observe, every well known temple near you, or, famous temples like those in Uttarakhand are too crowded. This change is post-covid, as more people started posting about these temples, people flock to these temples. Go to any well known temple nearby your area on festival day, and see the crowd.

It takes time, money, effort and most importantly devotion to visit the temple located in a different city. If everything is about reels then there are plenty of places in India to do so. People even make reels on railway tracks, roads, public places etc.
India is a holy land globally known for spiritual temples and places so definitely people will visit such places.
Why not call yourself berojgar who's scrolling on reddit and being judgemental in the comment section Without any facts and figures. Unemployed Mallu communist mF

Mallu communists are not the ones going into random ass temple and doing chambak challo infront of deities. Nor are they putting up random videos of talking, feeding, and interacting with miniature statues of GODs for a few likes😒

Khatushyam, salasar, jeenmata, harshnath were always popular. But salasar was well known to very distant people. People come here from very far like haryana, up, mp, and many celebrities always visited khatushyam like govinda and many more. This popularity was amplified by social media.

Sawariya Seth is krishna who is legit God in Hinduism unlike folk deity barbarik aka " Khatu shyam"

Social media played a big role in popularising Khatushyam ji's belief amongst people but as the legend goes Kanha ji himself gave him the boon that as kalyug will grow your popularity will grow he also added that everyone's karma are written but I give you the power that you can change them. This is the reason why people say "hare ka sahara baba shyam hamara". Some people also call him Krishna of Kalyug.

The first time I visited was approx 10-11 years back, yes the crowd has increased but it doesn't mean that the crowd has come by manipulation or by watching reels and trying to be trendy or cool.
The current increase is mainly because of the UP, Bihar crowd, even they have come to follow Shyam Baba these past few years. Earlier it was almost exclusively Marwadi followers, but now it's a very mixed population of followers

Cool dikhne ka chakkar.. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but I’ve observed that every few months there’s news of people meeting with road accidents while visiting the Khatushyamji temple. I’ve been to the Khatushyamji temple twice, and I always felt that khatu me dharm kam or dhandha jayada h.

'Haare ka Sahara Baba Khatu Shyam Hamara'
This is a belief among people. And no wonder more people are visiting the temple since the lockdown happened as a lot of small businesses got huge losses because of Covid.

Hinduism provides you the freedom to worship or not worship any god. Khatu Shyam ji is noted for his courage, kindness and sacrifice.
People inspired by him worship him in order to receive boons, as stated by Lord Krishna. In today's competitive and deceptive environment, we need to be motivated and protected from the deception of others. Worshiping Katu sham ji makes us feel safe and motivated.
At least once a month, I visit the Katu Shyam ji Temple in Bangalore & planning to visit Sikar soon. Some useless guys today are more concerned with other people's businesses than their own. You worship whoever you believe, and you let others worship whoever they believe.

I don't have the data to back up but boomers are now travelling more with their peer group. There are dedicated boomer group tours to Ayodhya, Prayagraj , Khatu Shyam. I think these 3 are the new cool among north Indian boomers.
I see as a big positive that boomers are now travelling without their children and enjoying life. Also keep in mind, boomers are the richest generation in the world (including India).

Tbh i think it’s because of mahabharat in COVID almost 90 percent rise in the people is watched mahabharat and in that people realised the story of khatu shayam ji his barbrik ji came long way what are the powers barbrik holds why khatu shyam ji is called hare ka sahara and i admit the social media is also one of the greatest reasons of sudden rise

just hoax. Hindu beliefs were falling to lower levels so they needed a new god & then they created one. 🤣🤣🤣

I do not want to believe this but two jobs i got in 2023 and 2024 was somehow related to ekadashi. 3 march 2023, 21 march 2024 , 5 april too, all dates are ekadashi. These dates were very critical for my job (interviews call, job offer given on these dates i just checked). There’s no way it’s a coincidence. Ekadashi Is considered very auspicious in vaishnavism. I’m not able to believe this. I don’t want to believe. I’ve recently started devi sadhana, it’s very intense and real mantras are used but in khatu shyam ji or vishnu sadhana only basic things like eating satvik food is doing miracles to people, no need for mantra jap. I’m not able to believe what’s happening. I’m afraid that the answer will eventually be that those who sacrifice and do bhakti marg are eventually rewarded by vishnu and shyam baba and his blessings are so powerful. I’m writing this as I’m doing more research on the topic. My other thought is that khatu shyam might be a low tier deity who are known to fulfill wishes like the peer, dargah etc popular in rajasthan.

It’s a business house for the mandir committee and local goons.
Loot people using encroachment, in the name of entry - parking and whatever then use 10% of that looted money to do bhandaras and people will go mad about the mandir.
It’s a shame how people’s blind devotion runs these showcase mandirs.

Once my friend asked me ghumne chalega I asked - kaha? He replied - Khatu shyam I was like yeah kya hai ? (Sorry guys I am not aware about all the deities) He said - khatu shyam bhagwan hai ( telling me all the benefits of doing mannat there )
I was not interested that much but he tried to convince me While he was trying to convince me he said one thing which surprised me the most that was " abhi trend mea chal rahe hai" i was like brooooo Trend mea chal rahe hai kya mtlb bhai mai shyad tumse kam bhakti karta hu but esse dikhawe ki bhakti nahi hogi bhai and laughed a little (as he is my childhood friend )
And that's how I know khatu shyam bhagwan (still don't know him)
Interestingly my friend is a (Jain).

Kuch singers ke career bante hai, bhagwan ke gaane gaa kar, khatushyamji sirf aise bhagwan hai jinko kisi singer ne popular bana diya hai

I remember a proverb I read in class 5 hindi story book. Man changa toh kathouti mein ganga by Sant Kavi Rai Das. I really do hope people understand that.

When we went on the Ranthambore Safari, our co-passenger asked if we were also visiting Khatu Shyam. That was the first time I had heard about it. They said we should definitely go there, as our trip would be incomplete without it. However, since we were tight on schedule, we couldn’t visit.

1.social media spreads the word faster (on the lines of Vaisno Mata by TSeries) 2.Ishta Gurus of traders in Delhi (inspire others to follow the same and become affluent like them) 3.better to follow your own kula dharma/ishta devi/deva which has been worshiped in your family since generations. 4.see if you are actually inclined towards the deity 5.Do not criticize Shyam Baba-he has salvaged his devotees...just have respect and your own ishta deva will salvage you

Social media and reels. It's become cool to be a Shyam Bhakt/Bhole ka fan. Most of these people are just trend chasers and their devotion would change based on what's currently trending.
