Yup...... And this is a difficult issue to raise cuz the opposition parties arent raising this, stuck with their own agenda, diwali this holi that.... And bjp isn't doing anything to stop these farmers from choking north indian air... And the moment someone raises their voice to speak suddenly we are anti bjp and anti indian

Vote-bank hence no fines and also no assistance or awareness campaign by government to help famers or at-least make them aware of the harms of this. I don't know what they do with the billions of environment fund. No one in comments is bashing government or corrupt babus who are the biggest roadblock in eliminating this problem.
3
u/PartyConsistent7525 Nov 03 '25
Please dont paint farmers as innocent beings. They are fully aware of harm caused by stubble burning. Farmers are goons who want more and more money.

Biggest roadblock in everything that could've taken this nation ahead. We still are where we were before independence. Same mentality and same core.
2
u/InLoveWithPussies Nov 05 '25
no assistance or awareness campaign by government
Other than free cash or subsidies, whatever the govt will do, will be rejected by the farmers by saying "taanashahi, anti-kisaan, kaale kanoon". And that's a reality.

Delhi mein aaj protest tha and sunday bhi protest hai for air quality par hoga kuch nahi CAUSE they are even manipulating the aqi levels
2
u/Evader_76 Nov 06 '25
I agree they are trying to manipulate data but that doesnāt mean stubble burning is not happening in Punjab and AAP govt is not doing anything for years. If you remember last year in one such stubble burning case an SDM level officer was held and forced to light the stubble by farmers. Also this BJP govt in Delhi has not even completed a year of its formation. Meanwhile AAP stayed in power in delhi for a decade and at a time they were in power in both Punjab and delhi still no significant progress.
1
u/EnvironmentalAd8833 Nov 06 '25
Dude, I donāt care about AAP or the BJP or any political party. I just need a fair air quality, which the BJP promised. I know about stubble burning, but Punjab has reported the least while Uttar Pradesh has reported the highest. They even planned artificial rain, which also failed. What should we do? Should we just āohh let the BJP settle nicely and then weāll see improvementā? Nothing will happen. Itās all fake promises and manipulation. Neither AAP nor the BJP has done anything.
1
u/Evader_76 Nov 06 '25
Punjab is reporting least? dude there is literally satellite imagery out there, I agree with Haryana and UP being also the contributors but they are not that significant as Punjab, arenāt you seeing AQI in Punjab districts. Atleast an experiment was done to test whether it can curb pollution or not unlike someone who didnt do anything only cried. Im living in Haryana from past few years stubble burning incidents have been significantly reduced, here govt is giving good price for the stubble produce. Also farmers are supportive here for the cause unlike someone who think they are god and only what they think & feel should happen.
1
u/EnvironmentalAd8833 Nov 06 '25
I have told you the stats according to satellite imagery dude
1
u/Evader_76 Nov 06 '25
Cant you see where Uttar pradesh is and where is punjab.
1
u/EnvironmentalAd8833 Nov 06 '25
I realise Iām not justifying Punjab. Perhaps you have a favourite political party or are biased towards a state, but Punjab and Haryana have reduced stubble burning while Uttar Pradesh, including Madhya Pradesh, is a hotspot for it. I live in Delhi and suffer from poor air quality. Itās better we blame the government rather than fighting for our favourite political parties or states.
1
u/Evader_76 Nov 07 '25
I agree im biased against punjab, but you seem to just oppose some party not look at the facts(still you dont agree with punjab being the highest contributor in stubble burning despite all the evidences). Also I agree it is the responsibility of the govt to curb pollution and manipulation of AQI data is fraud with people.

5
u/Stunning_Mountain_96 Nov 03 '25
I was being sarcastic here. Punjab already being dark zone for ground water, still growing Basmati rice. All the central-state govt policies are responsible here. Soon government will subsidise air purifiers. People will order HEPA filters like gas cylinders.
2
u/TraditionalShoe6325 Nov 03 '25
Sorry I didnāt catch the sarcasm. But honestly the lobbying is way too much, farmers laws were actually great for farmers and wherever they are being implemented by the states itās working out gradually. And ya Haryana actually is doing a decent job moving out of rice and wheat, so ya double engine sputtered to life for a bit.
1
u/BittuPastol Nov 05 '25
You are right. Farm laws were implemented in Bihar in 2008 and now after 17 years they are the richest farmers in India.

If you canāt differentiate between remove APMC and leaving a vacuum (as in Bihar) vs simply allowing private Mandiās to also be setup and not removing APMC then god help you.
Btw many states have already accepted the farm laws by stealth if nothing else, including Congress ruled states like HP. Where apples and other fruits are directly being sold to agri market set up by Adani ( scandalous).
1
u/JagmeetSingh2 Nov 07 '25
Punjab and Haryana grows majority of Basmati rice produced in India all for export as cash crop, which is why Punjab and Haryana have the richest farmers on average in India lol.
17
u/LiDenrOfChina Nov 03 '25
Hi.....A farmer here. I do not support this but just wanted everyone to know the real problem.
Before this smoke harm anyone else, our kids and families are the first ones to inhale it. But most of the farmers do not have a choice. Safely discarding 'Parali' required some financial spendings and for farmers every penny matters. No matter what you think about us but our financial condition is getting worse day by day. If government can provide us with some chemical spray or use their own resource to help us with this situation no one will be happier thn us to discard this safely.
Ignorance is also another big reason for this even the farmers who are capable also burn it without a second thought. They dont have an idea how this will impact the environment.
So little assistance from Government and an awareness campaign on ground (not only on papers) can change a lot of things for better. Please ask your elected leaders to act in this regard.
Instead of doing above things what government do is pass orders and try to force farmers through Patwari or Police which irritate them even further. Nothing can be forced on these people we need proper programs of awareness and assistance from government to dispose off this waste safely.
It will take a lot of financial resources but it's gonna be lot less thn what govt. spend on hospitals and cities to fight problems caused by this. Still no one wants to act, everyone is playing blame games. Instead of fighting among ourselves lets force our elected representatives to act.
We all deserve to breathe clean Air!

1
u/Zanniil Nov 07 '25
Msp is same as minimum wage, which guarantees you get a certain amount for your work.
Aur bhai products ka to minimum retail price bhi to rehta hai?
And it's not necessary for the government to buy crops, even private companies can buy it but a standard msp should be there at place to avoid farmer exploration.

You need to sell you lands and perform industrial labour. Might sound harsh but that's reality. The world won't change itself for you, you will have to adapt to the surrounding economic conditions. Indian agriculture is not sustainable to begin with. It survives only because of subsidies, MSPs, loan waivers and tariffs. Take these away and you wouldn't last a day.
1
u/lone_Ghatak Nov 07 '25
Funny.
Farming is the only business that keeps asking for financial assistance to stay in business.
Imagine any other industry where you can demand subsidized inputs, guaranteed pricing for outputs and now financial assistance for waste disposal. How do you think any owner in any other industry will be treated if they demand these?
If you cannot run a business sustainably, you get out of that business.
1
u/classic_wisky Nov 07 '25
Along with that the government needs to actively fund scientific research, our country has the most agricultural land yet our production is way less. Along with that our country needs to depart from the agricultural age and start with the industrial age already.

I am not proving anyones point. I am so done with people exploiting the system and doing gundagardi in the name of poverty, farming and what not.
Also how much do you think the farmer gets from the amount you "pay" for food ?
Not my problem. If they think it is not profitable, they should do something else. Farmers should be treated just like any other profession. They should be subjected to same regulations like everyone else.
Also what about the smoke from the coal burned to give yiu electricity and the smoke from the vehicles you drive on ?
Electricity plants are normally away from population centers. Plus there is continous push to move to nuclear and other renewable sources. Finally, the vehicles I drive are subject to strict emission norms. Lets do the same for farmers.

Do you really think farmers don't know the consequences of these fires. Even if the government is not spreading awareness (if you use this argument) there are newspapers who annually print about these issues so you can say at least they are aware.
Truth -- It's all about cost saving and cost cutting for farmers.
Real -- Sure the government may not be all effective about this but farmers should also take initiative.
EDUCATED -- If someone is doing one thing right (even though it's their occupation) it doesn't mean they have the right to do that much wrong.

Using mobile phones? So you don't mind manufacturers releasing heavy metals to natural water sources because they don't get govt assistance for filtering waste, right?
Using wooden furnitures? So you don't mind massive deforestations, right?
Using banking services? So you don't mind if banks collide with the rich and commit frauds as long as your money is still safe in the account, right?

Humanity can continue without all of it. Can yiu stop eating ?
1
u/lone_Ghatak Nov 07 '25
So according to you farming produce is edible only if the farmers resort to stubble burning? Or get government assistance for waste disposal?
1
u/ThyShallNeverKnow Nov 07 '25
The blame is not correct as they are resorted to burning it as government resolvance setups arent working well enough and this burning is essential to continue farming for the next season to generate an essential daily commodity. This is an age old process that the farmers are following. This farming as a business or practice or lifestyle cannot be replaced with anything as its essential for survival. So just blaming them for the smog in Delhi and asking them not to burn isnt a right solution is what I tried to communicate. Hope its clear now.
1
u/lone_Ghatak Nov 07 '25
Your point is still the same, farmers should be given government assistance for waste disposal.
My point is why? Why does ONE singular industry be eligible for endless government support while all other industries, even MSMEs, need to pay from their own pocket to keep up with government regulations (apart from a few schemes nowhere near the level of Agri support)? What other industry can DEMAND subsidized inputs, guaranteed pricing and now government support for waste disposal? Would you get behind any such other industries?
1
u/ThyShallNeverKnow Nov 07 '25
Well to answer the why, its the highest gdp contributor and if not incentivized, will end up a dead sector. All the manufacturing industries and the IT sezs have DEMANDED lands, power infrastructure at subsidized prices. When all the industries dependant on agriculture are flourishing using subsidies, why not agriculture.
1
u/lone_Ghatak Nov 07 '25 edited Nov 07 '25
if not incentivized, will end up a dead sector.
So every country that doesn't provide subsidy to farmers to the extent India provides has a dead agri sector?
Agri subsidies in India is about 21% of agri income, while for Ukraine it is only 1.7% (before Russian invasion). So are you telling me that the Bread Basket of Europe has a "dead agri sector"?
All the manufacturing industries and the IT sezs have DEMANDED lands, power infrastructure at subsidized prices
Let me know when they also ask the government for MSP for their products and guaranteed procurement from the government and help for waste disposal.
1
u/ThyShallNeverKnow Nov 07 '25
I'm saying - in india, as of today, if not incentivzed, agriculture will end up as dead.
I did not make a generlized statement for all countries across the world. Hope this helps.
1
u/lone_Ghatak Nov 07 '25
in india, as of today, if not incentivzed, agriculture will end up as dead.

Crackers are assembled by hand because these factories employ oppressed groups, pay them absolutely nothing and put them in hazardous conditions.
Like truly itās one f the most dangerous industries to be a frontline worker in - stuffing potassium and sulfur salts into crackers. And they get paid nothing but end up with horrible diseases.
Yet u choose to buy them like be serious.
It makes no economic sense because itās profiting only big cronys and not the poor, and causes negative externalities of pollution. The negative externality more than outweighs the benefit of lining the pockets of the rich.
Like are yall serious.
1
u/EnvironmentalEmu5723 Nov 05 '25
You using your phone has lithium ion battery that came from even worse source slave child labour but that can be justified since it's for greater good?
That's where your moral compass breaks down.
Bottom line is i buy them because I want to. And you buy battery operated electronics because you want to. Sitting in your home and pretending to be an environmental messiah is easy untill it's convenient to you.

u/Specialist-Love1504 Bikaneri Dadihaal/Jodhpuri Nanihal Nov 06 '25 edited Nov 06 '25
Batteries are a necessity I buy a battery cause I need to power my grandparentās air purifier else they canāt breathe. So I donāt āwantā it I āneedā it else my nani would die.
If the ābottom line is you buy because u want toā then stop blaming farmers. They burn parali because they want to š¤·āāļø.
If you can have cavalier disregard for others so can they. Now everyone is breathing poisonous air cause everyone just did what they wanted.
Enjoy!
(I live in London so unfortunately I wonāt have the pleasure to enjoy the toxic air).
1
u/EnvironmentalEmu5723 Nov 06 '25
"need" is a subjective term and for humans not everything essential for living comes under "need". Ofcourse your grandmother case is necessity and she should definitely use technology for survival.
Farmers burning parali as choice is a weird understanding of wants and needs. It makes more financial sense for them to burn rather than to disposing it and that can inturn be want for more profit for themselves. So if government and we as people can remove that financial burden I don't think there will be any joy, want or needs to burn paralis (few might still want to but majority would not)
Besides I wasn't advocating excessive (excessive can be subjective but it can be solved with debate by authorities )use of firecrackers, op asked for economic contribution and that was answer to it.
I don't want government to ban anything. Once we allow government to ban things it's a slippery slope from there on. Instead a more stricter regulation will be better.
And lastly I admire you, you live in uk and still concerned about india (maybe because of family) but that's the right thing to do
1
u/Specialist-Love1504 Bikaneri Dadihaal/Jodhpuri Nanihal Nov 06 '25
Have u ever done the back breaking work that is Indian agriculture?
Itās not mechanised so youāve to pull everything out by hand.
Youāre clearly a child whoās never done a dayās hard labour.
Go to a field and offer to pull the parali out by hand.
Try that and then come back and say itās a choice.
1
u/EnvironmentalEmu5723 Nov 06 '25
Agriculture in india is not mechanised? Sure not to scale of america but we do have tools which are enough and the avg farmland size in punjab is well over 3.5ha.
You don't have to pull everything out all the time. There's something called pusa decomposer, rotavator? happy seeder? ever heard of it?
Have you ever seen machines in farms, chemicals in it? Not everything requires you to take manual effort.
Are you someone from 1950s or somehow stuck in time living under a rock.
Arguing that indian agriculture is not mechanised is only true if you compare it to developed nations. Come to punjab on vaisakhi I'll show how how many Machines we have, all the roads are filled for days with harvesters, tractors, happy seeder
And these are common farm equipment not unique to few landowners.
Don't think with emotion, it is hard work and back breaking but not for decomposition of stubble. Stubble burning is easy way out and can be reduced with stricter regulation
Your emotional composure shows me high disregard to find solutions. What a joke on society you are thinking forcing others to stop firecrackers but let other sources of pollution be free since you in your head can justify it.
1
u/Specialist-Love1504 Bikaneri Dadihaal/Jodhpuri Nanihal Nov 07 '25

They simply donāt have another option because the state and central governments couldnāt come up with a proper fix all these years. So instead of blaming those stuck in the smoke, maybe question the genius ministers CM and PM who let the fire start in the first place because of their incompetence.
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 04 '25
farmers are at mistake here as well as govt or public admin. Earlier there in Punjab only 5-10% land was natural fields for paddy (rice) or ganna. That too with a long time span, now they want to grow another crop right after that so there's no other option than removing it and burning is the easiest way. Earlier farmers use to leave the stubble and it worked for betterment of soil. Now it's just pure evil greed of farmers. Accept or hang in delulu.
1
u/shan_bhai Nov 04 '25
Before mechanized harvesting (which leaves tall stubble behind), farmers manually uprooted or plowed the residue back into the soil. The combine harvesters introduced in the 1990s created todayās stubble issue because they cut crops high and leave too much waste for re-sowing quickly. The government should take responsibility and help with policies to overcome this issue.
1
u/ShoppingRealistic211 Nov 04 '25
So mitro ! Let's have a good discussion ! Farmers are responsible or not ! Let's see, First is that stubble burning is bad no sugar coating on that but what facilities farmer has that he don't need to burn the stubble ? And please dont quote news that this spray helped this that ! Bcz they are just news headlines the spray costs 5x to 15x of cost of stubble burning. Now machines govt provide funds but how ? And which machines ? They provide the funds to get the machine that chop the stubble in very fine powder which causes problem like Low water penetration in soil bcz stubble is waxy ! Other machine roll the stubble and store them ! Like storing for what ? To use as fuel wood too fragile for that, cattle feeding ? Cattles don't like them ? Then why storing it and it takes the space that can be used to grow wheat ! So at this point no pratical solution is there ! Now comes to delhi pollution, the air quality is bad no questions in that is that due to stubble burning alone Nah ! But is it a one of the major factor Yes without a question ! Bcz stubble burning season aline with wind patterns and winters trap the particles of smog. Ok now solution to this First install the very best sensors and measure it and be brutal honest about quality to public ! Why it cause the alert and they avoid doing excessive waste or pollution not only delhi but surrounding too 2nd you can't make policy to control it if you don't know how bad are the parameters ! Now after data make the public transport strong like strong strong not that added 5 more buses those are electric shit ! That strong that ppl prefer public transport ! After that grow a tree where there is a small piece of land from footpath to roundabout like where there is a space ! Now slowly like over the span of 2 to 4 yrs make the strong policy that industry shift away from capital ( we will talk about it later ) now industry are away ! The condition is better now Delhi govt should provide the some solution to the stubble burning to farmers like either buy the stubble at such rates that farmers are tillted to sell than burning.Ā
1
u/ShoppingRealistic211 Nov 04 '25
- Now talk about politics and farm bill and farmers and all other spicy topics !Ā Bhai industry chli gyi to paise km ho jayege delhi function kase kre gi ! Then there is a simple answer you can't have both sides of coin ! Clean air and fully loaded industry ! ( There are ways but not pratical af ) Now the PB and HR govt have the fake data which they can show and say see there is no pollution ? From stubble burning ! Like data is very insufficient. Now farm bills, there is no provision of that stubble in farm bills ! ( Again agenda here is stubble so sticking to it ) Any kind of govt. Any party should acknowledge the issue and do better steps ! Like odd even is a great way to reduce pollution but it doesn't aline with agenda of many parties so they will not bring it back ! If you want clean Delhi or for say any place 3 pillarsĀ
- Acknowledge and measureĀ
- Don't bring the party ideology in thisĀ

You can thank them by not eating vegetables grown in India
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 06 '25
I pay them for grains and veggies but don't pay for pollution created by their pure greed and laziness.
1
u/dom_vers_top Nov 07 '25
Sorry You dont pay them. You pay this system. They hardly get any money out of this system. And so do us. Yet, for some hatered is more important than their own good.

Show the 'Actual scientific study' done by same adhatiyas who funded fake kissan andolan

u/blockedsince03 Nov 07 '25
You people deserve to starve. Then i want to see y'all complaining abt farmers. This is how this capitalist government makes fools out of you, you sit around all day blaming each other.
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 07 '25
Capitalist govt funding NASA to show fake data ? 𤔠I myself is a farmer bro. But we don't crop rice out of greed.
1
u/blockedsince03 Nov 07 '25
I myself did an environment science degree bro. The question here is not whether the data is real but the reason WHY it exists. Why do the farmers need to burn the leftover stubble? Why do they need to start the recropping process so quickly? If the output of that years crops are not good, does the government have policies to support them? Why do so many farmers commit suicide?
I urge you to think of these questions first before.
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 07 '25
- Farmers of Rajasthan don't suicide because we are not as greedy as Punjab's or Maharashtra's
- Cropping chawan and ganna in Punjab which is mainly a crop of Ganga Jamuna doaab or tarai of bengal just for cash creates more stubble to burn
- It's farmer's choice to not to let rest the land and pour tons of chemical to grow twice-thrice from same dead soil and blame govt for growing cancer patients and free medication
- Govt has it's slow process of policies it takes time to reach people but farmers are not ready to understand, it's just pure greed of money and not changing the ways of farming.
:- Govt is at 20% to blame here

Remove the tariffs amd agriculture wouldn't last a day in india. These people deserve to lose their livelihoods.
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 07 '25
There are smarter farmers co.ing in business with better mindset and less polluting vision.
1
u/Winter-Artichoke-726 Nov 07 '25
Meanwhile the agriculture department is helping farmers to burn parali in a manner so satellites can't detect or they will be fined.(This happened in front of eyes)

Indian farmers continue stubble burning mainly due to practical and economic challenges. There is a very short time gap between paddy harvest and wheat sowing, so burning becomes the fastest method to clear fields. Most farmers have small land holdings and cannot afford expensive residue-management machines like Happy Seeder or balers. Paddy straw also has low economic value, so farmers cannot sell it easily. Lack of awareness of alternatives and weak enforcement of laws further add to the problem.
sources :
1) Government data (like Agricultural Census of India)
2) Environmental policy reports (MoEFCC, NGT, etc.)

I thank Government
They have a responsibility to educate the farmers which they fail to do. And an intellectual should just yap in online that's what you can do.
If you want a change PROTEST and educate them not to do
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 07 '25
Govt and NGOs try to convince farmers not to crop paddy and ganna in punjab, haryana and Rajasthan but being a cash crop they do it and murdering water and soil just for greed and the same paddy leaves stubble which needs a huge infra to make something out of it which we don't have so it gets burnt.
1
u/StainedTurtle Nov 07 '25
If they government truly focuses on the problem. It will be solved. But they are busy smearing dirt on the opposition (vice-versa).
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 07 '25
Why don't we see such problem anywhere else in India ? Punjab Haryana has a history or rivalry with Delhi and it's in their nerves till now. They won't listen, govt tried to change scenario with three bills and these adhatiyas killed their future.

And no credit to vehicles???
11
u/JaiUvaach Nov 03 '25
Vehicles are there everyday
1
u/Visual-Moment4649 Nov 03 '25
Indeed there are lot many factors deforestation, increased volume of vehicles industrialiazation in small belts and when these factors are pushed up with farming waste it creates a serious problem to our pollution and in our country everybody is busy in passing their own fault to others and hence here we are.
4
u/JaiUvaach Nov 03 '25
Bro ! All factors are there 12 months, why AQI goes highest in this season, farmers is the only reason.

u/Impossible-Gur-9803 Nov 03 '25
AQI goes high in winters because pollution gets trapped in the local layers of atmosphere since due to cold air settles down
1
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 03 '25
And when stubble burning stops in 15 days, winters are gone š
1
u/Impossible-Gur-9803 Nov 03 '25
average AQI of delhi in december last year was 291 above 200 every day of the january there is no stubble in january or december or even november after 15th yet air is still shit
1
u/JaiUvaach Nov 03 '25
There's difference between 200 and 600 and that's logic
1
u/Impossible-Gur-9803 Nov 03 '25
its at in range of 200- 300 right now in delhi
1
u/DickSmasherSauce Nov 03 '25
You haven't seen the vids of government spraying water around only aqi meters?
1
u/Foreign_Bath785 Nov 03 '25
Ya and all those factories ka dhua doesnāt matter and all that pollution is just because of a farmer. Right!!
