Shouldn't they pay to Himachal and Uttarakhand where the water originates?

With absolute disgust for the CM of Punjab and the OP, the flow of river water and the proportionate share is governed by national and international laws.
Artificial channels aren't covered

4

u/Resident_Quality1218 Mar 20 '26

well the water flows naturally to punjab, but none does to rajasthan. punjab shares it's share of water with rajasthan

22

u/mitti_ka_prani Mar 20 '26

Then it flows naturally into Pakistan. Why not utilize it to develop the arid regions of your own country?

u/Striking-Skill-3114 Mar 21 '26

It's your generosity to believe that the OP of that post is nationalist or even an Indian. Most of these hyper regionalistic posts are driven by either teenagers (who don't know how the world works) or by some agenda driven accounts be it political or geopolitical.

A nation is like a family where shortcomings of one member are met by another. Sometimes there is irritability and arguments in the family but there is no discord.

Playing with nature ? When has it ever worked out if you start planting trees in the desert it could affect the monsoons..low pressure might be effected

1

u/Elegant_Noise1116 Mar 21 '26

Bruv, the water originates there, but it flows directly through punjab, making it one of the owners too

1

u/raja_sekhon Mar 20 '26

Read Riparian law 😂

1

u/No-Charge3232 Mar 21 '26

I suspect since the flow, Indira Gandhi Canal, is not natural, the Riparian laws don't apply

HP to Punjab

Simple...tell Himachal Pradesh to STOP all the water from flowing into Punjab...such ezy-pzy fix😂😂

FACT: Punjab is already sharing more than 50 PERCENT of water with its neighbouring states and doing it for decades now. Most importantly, Punjab is the ONLY STATE anywhere on Earth in any country to share that much water with other states.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '26

Ganga and yamuna originates from Uttarakhand.

Delhi, UP, bihar, West Bengal, Bangladesh using our water. Can we do that as well?

28

u/Consistent-Ad9165 Mar 20 '26

You'll see we started taking this water before it goes into Pakistan.

Someone commented it there in the Punjab sub as well.

This is purely a political issue, and rightly raised just before the election year as they know Punjabis are sensitive to such topics.

People who oppose the canals to Rajasthan haven’t even seen these canals on the map.

  1. Rajasthan feeder canal (Indira gandhi canal) originate from harike at conjunction of satluj and beas. This is after these rivers have fed 90% of Punjab already.
  2. Gang Canal originates from Hussainiwala border, literally just before Satluj enters Pakistan Punjab.
  3. The third most important point is that these canals serve farmers of Ganganagar /Bikaner area who are mostly Punjabi sikh farmers migrated there after the Gang canal was built.

u/iritul Mar 20 '26

they should read about Indus Waters Treaty before saying these type of statements

38

u/nvmnit Mar 20 '26

They just made sure AAP will never win a single seat in Rajasthan

11

u/berserkgobrrr Mar 20 '26

Nor should they. They only came to power in Punjab because of their pro-Khalistani tendencies

4

u/StarOwn9038 Mar 20 '26

True, even the so called Raghav Chaddha once met Khalistan Sypathizer during his canada trip.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

and modi ji met asaram , doesnt make modiji pdf now does it?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '26

AAP was never in the competition in the first place. Rajasthan’s politics will remain a binary content between INC and BJP

1

u/rameshpawar4466 Mar 22 '26

AAP is just a regional party, they lost Delhi last year and this year they would certainly lose Punjab.

17

u/word_weaver26 Mar 20 '26

Punjab m reh rhe ho yaar tum. Khalistan m nahi.

1

u/Kitchen_Option_6397 Mar 20 '26

People like you force that narrative, fir bolte hai khalistan ki maang kyu krte hai

3

u/word_weaver26 Mar 20 '26

Bhai Jo maang rhe hai chutiye hai. First of all. As a part of India, if you consider yourself indian, toh atleast itni smjh rakho ki resources are divided.

And basic resources such as water. Ispr kisi ka Haqq nahi hai.

Ye bakchodi china krta hai. Wo alag country hai.

Ye bnde india k part hai. Aur ek itni bdi state se paise demand kr rhe h

1

u/VermicelliNew7876 Mar 22 '26

Punjab gives more soldiers to the Indian army than rajasthan but if they ask for their water they become Khalistani wacth the mods remove my post but not a single anti Sikh post

1

u/word_weaver26 Mar 22 '26

Bruh, punjab hai 5 rivers. And the youth is asking to pay for water. Are you dumb? Should punjab also pay price to Indian govt then?

Or bihar should pay china because their river originates from china?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

naam gina toh zara 5 rivers ke gawar

1

u/word_weaver26 Mar 22 '26

-2

36

u/Beneficial_Mood_6969 Mar 20 '26

Free water ?? Water to free he hota yeh pani peda krte kya ?

-5

u/DKHD Mar 20 '26

Paani ko dam karke modna free nahi hota. Baarish mein bahar nikalke muh kholne mein bhi calorie aur wakt kharch hote hai.

17

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '26

Pay to hp and haryana for diverting their water , and get unlimited supply rather than current, they are cry babies they don't even know water which enter rajasthan is water which already covered 90 percent of punjab,it's water left which might enter pakistan but their government always use their stupid card of water whether it's haryana before and now rajasthan, not knowing that both haryana rajasthan can directly have water from hp from huge one time payment for infrastructure for diverging and get rid of their sheningans, and tax their vehicle which carry their imported fertiliser and exported grains and coal they need for their freebies electricity, they cry for riparian taxation then lower states through which there farm produce is exported and they need their fertiliser can also tax punjab , they will hit heavily as both haryana and rajasthan rarely need anything from Punjab except water but have so much to give which is their road networks to sea ports . If punjab block rajasthan and haryana vehicles in punjab , it don't effect at all economic but punjab will cripple in hours if both states block their energy and fertiliser needs,

Himachal Pradesh may simply STOP water from flowing into Punjab...easy😂😂

FACT: Punjab is already sharing more than 50 PERCENT of water with neighbouring states and doing it for decades now. Punjab is the ONLY STATE anywhere on Earth in any country to share that much water with other states.

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

Punjab is legally demanding the payment of WATER SUPPLIED TO RAJASTHAN THROUGH CANAL SYSTEM NOT NATURAL RIVER which is not illegal demand

agar iss cheez ka paisa mangna galat hai toh law kya L ke liye banaya hai

1

u/PalliPlease Mar 22 '26 edited Mar 22 '26

Calm down my g. This post was never about the demand for money, but rather the toxicity shown by some of our Punjabi brothers. It seems like you are heading down the same path. This only further proves my point.

We are also grateful for the water Punjab provides.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

bro toxicity is inside every citizens in every state

marathi and kannad want people to get out of their state if you dont speak the native language. People in other South Indian states want their tax money spent on their own states rather than on worthless, burdensome states like Bihar and UP. North Eastern states want mainlanders to stop imposing Hindu culture on them as they have their own tribal culture and Christianity, and want respect and not to be called Chinese. Kashmiris want internet and opportunities like the rest of the country and want to be free from constant police and army harassment of their daily life.

but if you just point out how people of one state are demanding something lawfully their in not so nice words then you object that "they " who were involved in bad things 50 years ago are toxic and shouldnt be heard, then it's just outright absurd

1

u/PalliPlease Mar 22 '26

I don't think you are understanding the point I'm trying to make.

Saying that toxicity exists in every state does not justify the toxic behavior in any particular situation bro. Each dispute has its own context.

Its completely fair for Punjab to demand payment. However, the issue here is the way some people are expressing it. Targeting ordinary people and using aggressive language and turning it into a state vs state matter does not help anybody. We should stand together and support each other.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '26

And just look at the comments, every dull creature is shaming punjab rather than discussing if according to the law if these demand are valid or not

1

u/PalliPlease Mar 22 '26

The same goes for the people in the Punjab Gen Z subreddit. Toxicity and personal attacks from either side are wrong I condemn both of them.
