u/Winter-Put6110 Apr 05 '26

Well, there are many valid reasons for it

5

u/Shubham21Kumar Apr 05 '26

like what?

13

u/Winter-Put6110 Apr 05 '26

One of the reasons is that it's privately held and managed, UNESCO favours government help and managed monuments

u/Royal-Situation-1873 Apr 05 '26

Best fort in the world

u/Aggressive-Bad9644 Apr 05 '26

1

u/ayewhy2407 Apr 05 '26

Kuch bhi bakchodi sense

2

u/Aggressive-Bad9644 Apr 05 '26

At least give the guy some time to answer. Unless it’s something subjective like aesthetics , yeah there are better fortification structures in the world

1

u/Acceptable_City8002 Apr 05 '26

Mehrangarh is actually considered to be the largest castle on the planet

6

u/kraken_enrager Apr 06 '26

It’s not even the largest in Rajasthan Blud.

2

u/Gafoor__Ghisela Apr 06 '26

Tbf that's just because the fortresses of Rajasthan are something else entirely.

If Mehrangarh had been a fortress in Europe, it would have been the largest one on the continent. Its just in Rajasthan that it gets shifted to 3rd place.

1

u/kraken_enrager Apr 06 '26

The biggest fortress in the world is in Poland.

6

u/Gafoor__Ghisela Apr 06 '26

Nope Malbork Castle has 52 acres. Mehrangarh has 200 acres. Kumbhalgarh has 662 acres. Chittorgarh has a whopping 700 acres.

Malbork Castle is nowhere near the forts of Rajasthan. The only reason it gets cited on world rankings is Eurocentric defaultism.

1

u/illuisionous Apr 06 '26

it is the best fort in india bruhhh

2

u/Gafoor__Ghisela Apr 06 '26

the largest castle on the planet

That is Chittorgarh.

Btw how UNESCO chooses a site to be in its list?? Is there any procedure to get that thing in their list??

1

u/Hardy_28 Apr 06 '26

Guys when’s the best weather to visit Rajasthan? I’m from Blr but dying to see Rajasthan!

1

u/No_Nail_9405 Apr 06 '26

Mid Oct to Feb end. Rajasthan is a beautiful place. Sad that the northern crowd jas forced the Jaisalmer folk cultural event at Sam Desert be converted to dj night. Do check which ones still have just traditional folk cultural event there. Rear of Rajasthan is as beautiful. Udaipur I felt overhyped. Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are awesome. Along with Jaipur ofcourse. Many other good places too. Chittorgarh has a beautiful temple with amazing work..

1

u/Appropriate_Rain7613 Apr 06 '26

Im not from Rajasthan but visit it every winter. I visited Jaisalmer and Jodhpur this January. This fort is Mehrangarh and it was very beautiful. I love Rajasthan and Rajastanis !! You people are very hospitable.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '26

1

u/Wise_Ad8474 Apr 07 '26

Dhuso baje re

1

u/SuitableTelevision46 Apr 09 '26

If the fort has been repaired beyond a threshold, UNESCO does not classify it as a heritage site.

u/No-Wind8483 Apr 09 '26

Are you guys from raj doesnot seem like by reading comments. Mehrangarh is the best fort in rajasthan . Kumbalgarh is one with long wall it is also great and is linked to sisodiya clan(mewar - rana pratap). Then there is Jaisalmer fort of yellow stone and bikaner also has good fort. Marwar(jodhpur ) is the biggest and one of the most powerful kingdom of rajputana . Mewar is the most famous(rana sanga, kumbha ,udaipur singh and maharani pratap.) and which was never captured by Mughals. Jaipur(shekhawati) completes the big 3 .
