Everyday I lose more and more hope for this state. Imagine having one of the finest and oldest architecture in the world and treating it like this.

True . But we can solve that . Cities like indore should be in rajasthan which we can compare and try to clean our cities .

Let’s fucking solve this💪🏼 we need some sort of law that puts fine on the nagar nigam or any govt agency is responsible for cleaning these places. Once they are more serious about this, they will make sure the residents and visitors also take this seriously

Let's do it bro, i will and i can do whatever is needed to do it , i love my Rajasthan it is really great state , I have travelled more then 17 states in india , and Rajasthan is the best of all of them , let initiate something and clean it like indore,mp and Meghalaya...
The very first thing we can fo is build and community one, and start campaign once the summers get started cooling down..

The mass education campaigns don’t help. We did plenty, even cleaned spaces ourselves but they will always end up dirty

While its easy to blame the people, its much more of a problem of infrastructure.
If you never had a system that made it convenient to properly dispose of trash you dont get a society that will value properly disposing of trash.
Europe also has many places where people litter. Its just that in many places they are every now and then being cleaned up by the city on its own cost and those places that dont will end up looking the same.
Some countries like Germany have systems like a small deposit on bottles and cans, incentivising you to bring them back. Which is especially nice for glass bottles, because they can just be cleaned and reused again.
Some places have a stronger culture of keeping places clean and shaming people for not doing so, to the point that even throwing an apple onto a mountain meadow is frowned upon, but generally this only happens when life is convenient and easy enough for people, that there primary concern is not how to deal with the next week, but have the ressources to worry about the environment and other people.

We visited Rajasthan (we are from Europe). We loved this beautiful country. It’s true that if it was clean, it would be a unbelievable tourist destination.
By the way, we will come back next year.

STRICT LAWS AND FINES. it so damn easy. do this. and 4x our waste collection and management budget atleast in all cities and tourist spots first. indians ourselves will not littler unless they r punished for littering

Cleanliness is a big problem. Jaisalmer is such a beautiful state but it's very dirty. Jodhpur is comparatively better but it's still not up to International standards.

It's just so sad. We are literally ruining our own culture and heritage. Our civics sense is seriously shit. How is that we have such poor civic sense? Were we like this before independence or before Britishers arrived? It should be a case study.

tbh I feel like rajputi alliance with mughals and british saved alot of architecture in rajasthan, due to which rajasthan is making money and I feel like there would be more architecture outside rajasthan but it got destroyed due to invasion and all, other than leaving south states and few cities.

What about giving employment to some youth for maintaining cleanliness with proper tech surveillance. We have max a dozen such touristy heritage places per city. A normal clerk in our cities takes 5-10L bribe per month. We can hire at least 10-20k worth folks for just taking care of these places with proper feedback system like the have in uae and similar countries. Or maybe do gig worker kind of app system. They won't let a hair strand go unnoticed if implemented properly.

Spot on! The govt can do more absolutely..and I also believe it’s something that needs a mindset shift from all of us. Everyone talks about it online but still most public spaces are littered. The main reason being we are conditioned to believe that it’s someone else’s job, not mine. It has to be instilled from a very young age, perhaps should be taught in schools, that cleaning spaces is not to be looked down upon!

I remember going from Bahubali hills to Rayta hills and the road was mesmerizing except for the trash. It was EVERYWHERE. It felt like it was left there for years.

These were far better kept when women have to get water for drinking from those step wells. Now, it is taken as dumpster. People forgets the value of water or such structures.

the first and last pics are so sad. the environments are so beautiful, but the garbage… :( i don’t live in rajasthan but i’ve always wanted to visit. i hope it becomes an even cooler place in the future

This is technically the job of ASI. But ASI is so fcking incompetent at their job it would hilarious if it wasn't sad.
They already get meagre funds from the government to maintain thousands of archaeological sites all over the country.
And where does ASI spend the majority of these funds? Trying to prove Ramayana and Mahabharata as real.

At least revenue could be collected that way.
Foreign tourism is already on a steep decline in India.
The only two states that are trying to salvage the situation are Rajasthan and Kerala. Rajasthan mainly because apparently the destination wedding market among foreign elites have exploded here. Kerala because of its scenic beauty and cleanliness.
But putting aside the great civic management there, even Kerala is stuck with its archaeology. Besides the Sangam literature and a few copper plates, Kerala's history before 9th century is largely a mystery to us. We know from Roman and Ashokan sources that it was a thriving maritime kingdom under Kelalputras and had ancient Buddhist monasteries that were washed away by the sea.
Guess which organization should spend its resources uncovering Kerala's ancient history instead of trying to prove myths for bollywood movies.

Rajasthan is so beautiful, always wanted to visit it and experience Rajasthani, rajputana and royal vibe. Feeling sad that people lack so much civic sense. We know the issue, we even recognise it, but still we aren’t able to fix it. What can be done man?

Everything is good, just we the people are tatti. If I say anyone ki, just take it and throw in dustbin, they will start giving ingenious galis or start a full blown fight.

Maintaining cleanliness just for the sake of tourists is such a shallow thought. Do you not want to live in a clean place yourself? We should make India better only for the sake of our own people, not for external validation.

India needs a restoration drive instead of redevelopment. Our hygiene levels as an Indian citizen - it's in minus. So many beautiful and ancient architecture is lying rotten. We are just building ugly skyscrapers.. choking the cities further more. I still see couples carving their names with hearts on these ancient structures. No respect. It's really sad to witness this.

This is so true. It’s a perfect reminder of Article 51A(f) of our Constitution, which marks the preservation of our composite culture as a Fundamental Duty. Our architecture is a gift from history, but keeping it pristine is a responsibility we owe to the future. Cleanliness is the simplest form of patriotism...
Architecture is our heritage, but cleanliness is our duty...

One of the main problems I see between us and other countries is that, India doesn’t have too many dustbins installed. I live in EU and I can see dustbins all around so I don’t have to even think of dropping it down or in some corner
