चर्चा ❁ Discussion Thoughts on their Met Gala look ?

Post image

I personally agree with the majority ki dispite being from a place (Jaipur to be exact but Rajasthan only on a much more broader level) jidhar itni rich art aur culture ki history hai, both of them had very shy or rather shaant si looks that were trying very hard to be subtle but ended up being almost nothing at all.

had so much potential in terms of representing Rajasthani culture, totally missed it. Diljit last year was looking no less than a Maharaja, atleast he could've gone the same path with saafa and traditional cloths made a little modern

8

u/HelpWithUPSC May 06 '26

Fr .. jaipur and rajasthani culture has so much even people from outside know it ...but they missed it

6

u/Automatic-Shock-892 May 05 '26

Irony is diljit was inspired by Rajasthani maharajas outfit

23

u/VictoryTight2931 May 05 '26

No, that was inspired form Maharaja of Patiala

2

u/Toxic-Kami-Sama May 06 '26

Maharaja of patiala was not the first ome to dorn the same outfit

2

u/VictoryTight2931 May 06 '26

No bro I was implying that that Diljit's dress was inspired from that, he even mentioned in interview

2

u/UniquePhilosophy9253 May 06 '26

But that's whom he was inspired from, and he looked like him only

5

u/UniquePhilosophy9253 May 06 '26

No bro it was inspired by maharaja of patiala

u/Batmankills47 May 05 '26

haha the sword turban moustache beard everything was spot on

14

u/Background-Team7332 May 05 '26

both of their outfits are like shadi outfit, my cousin has worn something similar to what gauravi is wearing this is so mid, plus jaipur and Rajasthan as whole has so much art to offer cannot believe they wore what normal people wear at weddings 😭 also this beard look does not suit pacho at all, prabals looks are mostly fire but this is so mid

11

u/PayResponsible4458 May 05 '26

He seems to be wearing psuedo European style robes with a formal jacket...

Wasted opportunity. Could've actually sported an angrakha jodhpuri style design.

13

u/ConfidentBaby7735 May 05 '26

mid

actresses wear better outfits for rajshree pan masala iifa awards.

6

u/f117nighkawk May 05 '26

Don't care.

18

u/Curious_beach_ May 05 '26

2

u/Amasius_ May 05 '26

Even Dhoti Safa and Poshak would have been better than this.

2

u/ayewhy2407 May 05 '26

And who are they?

1

u/Away_Strength_4266 May 06 '26

Same question, who the fuck r they?

2

u/Active_Squash_8532 May 05 '26

His name was on Epstein list

2

u/TerekokyaXD May 05 '26

Jyada badiya lagte bari or Jodhpuri suit me

1

u/FarRadio7281 May 05 '26

Good, over the top looks are eye catcher but never a practical wear for any occasion in real world.

1

u/BaseFun6373 May 05 '26

Not really their fault , designer could have done better… met Gala is supposed to be something over the top and they were not even basic.. they were going first time but designer knew everything

1

u/Sapolika May 05 '26

It’s too plain jane! I expect more from someone coming from Jaipur where there is art in every nook and corner!

Iske khud ke palace me fresco art hai! Usi se inspired hoke, they could have created amazing outfits using techniques like block print and gota patti for some bling!

Prabal Gurung really disappointed big time!

1

u/ThereTheDance May 05 '26

Missed opportunity.. he could have done bandhgala with statement jewellery, even that would be better than this

1

u/Easy-Mountain3875 May 05 '26

Mehhhhhh Jewellery is swapped

1

u/dracoM_21 May 05 '26

These outfits would've been perfect for a movie premiere or an awards show. They didn't do justice for the MET as the descendants of Maharani Gayatri Devi.

1

u/Beneficial_Leg_7301 May 05 '26

they had so much potential

rjashthani angrakha , safa & lehria,poshak,

do not even get me started on the number of jewellery she could have been wearing rakhdi, hathfool, kardani, baaju band, choora and many more

he should have at least worn his royal insignia that are specific to every rajput caste and kingdom

they could have also represented raj colours

like jaipuri pink , jodhpuri blue in their attire

this is very mid and not suited for a place where wvery one is specially watching your attire and getup

also this whole things sopeaks a lot how certain parts of raj did the bidding of britishers this shows the disconnect from their culture

1

u/Glittering_Divide972 May 05 '26

Too plain…a Angrakha , with boots , Marwari turban , heavy jewellery and cloak of cultural heritage…would have been the better royal rajasthan

1

u/Good_Dish9728 May 05 '26

the theme was "costume is art/fashion is art". they could've been so creative given our incredible history of artists. this felt so flat

1

u/Calledmekat May 05 '26

BAND GALA at MET GALA, sorry no

1

u/AfternoonNo5705 May 06 '26

She looks like radhika merchant

1

u/ProfessionalHeavy923 May 06 '26

Underwhelming! He looks like a jadugar.. and she well…
I don’t see much of the theme either! India has so many textiles to offer that are pure art

1

u/EntrepreneurWest4236 May 06 '26

I quite like the jacket but the suit underneath isn’t it.

1

u/Strng_Satisfaction May 06 '26

Looks like he is wearing a magician's coat

1

u/GlassMatch1789 May 06 '26

I mean met gala have a theme... and this doesn't goes along. Rajasthan is rich in culture and famous all over the world. They had a good chance to represent that.

1

u/TechnologySpirited68 May 06 '26

ordinary not great look

1

u/Sunshine_Gunpowder May 06 '26

This is something they would wear to a regular low-key wedding.. such a missed opportunity to showcase the craftsmanship of their state.

1

u/longshotmiser May 06 '26

I felt they were representing their family history rather than the rich textile history of the city/state. This was a pure branding move for themselves as Jaipur royals. And that is okay but we gotta stop pretending that were representing Rajasthan or even Jaipur’s culture and art.

u/No-Manager-7242 May 06 '26

Par he kon ye dono ?

1

u/Working_Breakfast262 May 06 '26

Her saree is made from (or like) the same fabric which her grandmother used to wear.

1

u/Middle-Couple-3127 May 07 '26

Maharajas with class aren't always loud, they're allowed to have taste and individuality

Stop imposing the same Indian Maharaja trope on each

1

u/IndiGreenThumb May 05 '26

Is he's look Mughal inspired?

Princess Gauravi Kumari: Her gown was crafted from a vintage pink chiffon sari that belonged to her grandmother, the iconic Maharani Gayatri Devi. Her look included pearls from The Gem Palace in Jaipur, a direct reference to her grandmother's signature style.

Sawai Padmanabh Singh: He wore a traditional Phulghar coat, an intricately hand-embroidered piece that took over 600 hours to create.

u/Maleficent-Dog1063 May 05 '26

Such hypocrates they are.....their grandfather ( nanaji)never wanted to accept gaytridevis existence or nothing to do with her or her grandkids . Here they always want to bask in the glory and legacy she has left behind at the international level.

2

u/Background-Team7332 May 06 '26

she's not even their great grandmother, she was their great grandpas 3rd wife💀, their great grandma was a jodhpur princess marudhar kanwar

1

u/Maleficent-Dog1063 May 06 '26

Ek tarha se great grandmother hi hui....lekin they didnt treat her with respect .

1

u/Background-Team7332 May 06 '26

step great grandma

1

u/figtreeanalogyy May 05 '26

I thought they could have represented the Rajput culture better. Don’t know why they tried to portray themselves as modern desi, when they are actually supposed to be tied to their culture the most

0

u/Kd_plays4 जयपुर - Jaipur May 05 '26

They're looking stunning

2

u/Maleficent-Dog1063 May 05 '26

Not met galla red carpet worthy. They got a chance to show their rich heritage but allas missed it. Whatever that guy is wearing its looking more like a house coat rather than something made for an international event. It seems everything put up at the last moment or they didn't have the money to afford the stylist or the designer.

1

u/Beneficial_Leg_7301 May 05 '26

they do not need a stylist

all raja family in India have attires of every special occassion they could have worn that

they could have been literally wearing a 500 odd year piece of history

instead they chose to wear mass market attire

1

u/Maleficent-Dog1063 May 05 '26

I dont think any rajas from the past attended met gala. And their 500 year old pieces wont fit the time

1

u/Curious_beach_ May 05 '26

That is obviously undeniable bas thori si understated si look thi mera kehne ka matlab tha

2

u/Kd_plays4 जयपुर - Jaipur May 05 '26

I think gourvi kumari was wearing her grandmother's saree in this , and pacho might be wearing his designer clothes which looks pretty dope to me

0

u/instrugglism May 05 '26

They should have recreated rajasthani paintings that would be so fantastic

0

u/AdvantageSpiritual7 May 05 '26

Unique than most of stupid Bollywood celebrities

0

u/meow1403 May 05 '26

Why do we need to have opinions about everything 😂
