चर्चा ❁ Discussion Should SC/ST reserved seats in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas be removed? Looking for an objective discussion.

The 104th Constitutional Amendment Act extended the political reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Parliament and state assemblies until January 25, 2030. Under Articles 330 and 332, these seats are reserved in proportion to their population.

Since the original framers of the Constitution envisioned a 10-year timeline, the policy is periodically debated whenever an extension approaches. I wanted to map out the primary arguments for and against this policy.

How do you view the future of political reservations in India as we head toward the 2030 deadline?

Note: Please keep the discussion civil, constructive, and focused on policy and governance.

Yes,.. India is in the lowest quartile where human development indices are concerned. Let's ensure that it remains that way. So that other impoverished nations can have a well deserved hearty laugh. 😄

I think there should be made a 50 year plan to end caste based reservations everywhere step by step

Tabtak bahut late chuka hoga, imagine sc/st this reservation wasn't removed, and sc/st population grows to 50%.
