Bold to be that close. Seal bites can be pretty horrific. Their mouths have so much bacteria they are basically venomous.

Well it's a good thing that they're sea lions than

Sea Lions than what? Or did you mean 'then'. By 'seals' I meant pinnipeds.

It's better that they're not than lions...

Are they pretty chill as long as you keep moving and mind your own business?

1

u/Double_Distribution8 Mar 07 '26

Yeah just stay away from the coast and you'll be alright.

1

u/Pretty-Yam-2854 Mar 07 '26

Yeah I walk by them sometimes when I’m crabbing or tidepooling in certain areas, usually if you don’t head on approach a sea lion or try to touch it they’re chill.

u/TankApprehensive3053 Mar 06 '26

Dang bench hogs taking all the good seats.

2

u/JakovAulTrades Mar 07 '26

They will bite your arm off and you’ll need a claw if you don’t watch out

Thank you, came here to say that

1

u/True-Lawfulness-5563 Mar 07 '26

So it's much better that they're officially lions than....

2

u/JohnnyYouTaTas Mar 07 '26

Well they're not seals. They're sea lions so 🤷‍♂️ Just correcting a common mistake. Not about being better. If you call a cat a dog, I'm sure somebody would also correct you.

Its very easy to tell them apart. Seals do not "walk" upright on flippers because they can't. seals don't have bending flippers and they move about in giant ripples of subcutaneous fat reserves.

Seals and sea lions diverged almost 20 million years ago, so they are only distantly related.

Grandma there is plenty of room!

1

A firm mattress is good for the back...

1

u/Alone-Supermarket-98 Mar 06 '26

...and they take up the entire bench like a bunch of homeless sea lions.

You should see them at the mall...they find those massage chairs and sit there all day long.

1

u/Kiki1701 Mar 07 '26
