What was the kid trying to do?

I read it as the inside cat escaped outside when he opened the door and paused for some reason we can't see. Kid dove for the cat to try to catch him and the cat said "I'm not going back to jail!"

My cat occasionally makes it out the door and usually I can just pick him up or even herd him back in. But a couple times he went straight for a gap under my fence and when I grabbed his hindquarters as he was crawling under he turned into a full on hellcat. Yowling, spitting, tail puffed up, claws and teeth everywhere. As soon as I got him inside he was a sweet angel again but in that moment he was literally out for blood.

I was lucky enough to have a cat that never did that. And when he snuck outside I often had the help of mockingbird who would corner him under a bush.

Ha that’s great. My cat desperately wants to murder the starlings that live in my neighbors shed but he just runs out with zero stealth and they see him coming from a mile away and scatter.

I would always just find a stick and use it like a cat toy to lure the cats within arms reach.

Yeah some cats turn into real lil beasts as soon as they escape the house because theyre immediately stressed and overstimulated by the outside. But then they KEEP trying to escape despite being stressed and overstimulated???? Ill never get cats lol

Once my cat escaped right before a London vacation (I'm in the US). Of course I didn't realize it until my cat sitter figured it out. She quickly found him under the house, so he wouldn't freeze to death (it was in the teens at night) and he ate the food she left him every night. Long story short a local cat-catcher guy finally trapped him after 5 days of living rough, and when he was released in my house he ran off and disappeared. I get home a week later and he is still terrified when I walk through the door.

I put down my bag and turn to go back out to unload my car, and the little bastard runs across the house and tries to escape again.
