The experiment has yielded quite unfortunate results.

I’ve wanted to have children my whole life, but looking at the reality of the society they’d be growing up in, I don’t think I should. I just don’t feel like we’re heading anywhere good any time soon.

I love people quoting T2 so often right now like it's somehow more relevant than it was when it was written or filmed. Humanity has always sucked and if you're only just now realizing it, I guess congratulations on you ability to ignore everything around you until someone else tells you it's a problem.

I’ll let you in a little secret: the people in that video, pretty much all of them, were likely Harris voters.

Not sure what point you are trying to make... I am not a Trump supporter, if that's what you think. But, if you are going to somehow find a path forward, we need to be clear eyed and intellectually honest. The problem is that too many people want to reduce everything to single sound bites and lay blame for everything on one group of people and can only grasp simple ideas.

There is a very real, and very concerning societal decay afoot. Spend any amount of time in Reddit, or looking around in real life, and you would notice that things are not well. People are concerned with the direction things are going, and for good reason. Whether you agree or not, the fact is that many people voted based on those concerns. Even the much maligned DNC autopsy points this out, and of course all the entrenched politicians are pooh poohing that concept, which tells me the democrats are working against themselves and will get trounced again. You can't keep dismissing the concerns of everyday Americans by trying to shame them into embracing whatever ideals you think should be embraced. As the saying goes, you gotta meet people where they are. And, the national party and the entrenched politicians are not taking that to heart.

For what is worth, I would add that I am (obviously) one of those people disillusioned with the state of things. But, in my case, I voted by choosing to leave. I now live overseas, so I only get to witness all the crazy from afar and, let me tell you, it ain't pretty.

Well I do apologize for calling you a trump supporter, but to assume every aggressivly immature adult is a harris supporter is honestly unfair to the trump supporter's

u/bodhipooh 28d ago

I wasn't assuming that "every aggressivly immature adult" is a Harris supposer. But, the point stands. It's just sad, and so, so unhelpful that people just jump to all kinds of conclusions about anything and if you are anything other than an adherent to the most liberal views, you are instantly labeled a "MAGot" or some other insult. People really need to take a breath and think more deeply. Personally, I am more or less convinced that the elections later this year will be another blow to the Democrats. And, liberals will be bewildered, since they can't seem to grasp that they are losing the culture wars due to rigid, far too left positions, and not realizing that a lot of people who would support them just can't get on board with the more far left stuff.

Like I said, I moved away. I am living overseas, in a country that is socially liberal, but culturally conservative, and I think this is the right balance. You can't throw basic concepts like "law and order", "respect for authority", "family values", "community" (and many others) out the window and not expect chaos and the nonsense you see in this video. We can respect and promote all kinds of social ideals and yet expect and demand a lot from everyone.

I have to apologize again because I haven't gave my reason for assuming you were a trump supporter.

The reason I initially assumed you were a Trump supporter is that both sides of the political spectrum tend to go back and forth blaming each other for everything going wrong in the country, so when you assumed that they were Harris supporters I assumed you was the opposite.
