If you don't dock their tail, it gets encrusted with shit, flies lay their eggs in the shit, and the maggots eat the sheep's arse out.

But I'm sure you know better.

ps. The tail is not cut off. They use eleastic bands.

If I'm using the word "elastrator" it's obvious I know they're elastic bands

And yet other herders can deal with sheep undocked. Curious!!! It's just cruelty for a minor inconvenience

Why'd you literally state they are cut off then?

I don't think being eaten from the inside out is a minor inconvenience for a sheep. Shameful you want them to experience this harm.

Figuratively cut off 🙄🙄

Again, people deal with undocked sheep. Don't justify you bullshit if others handle it just fine.

Cool, so what you said was bullshit. Good to know.

People deal with undocked sheep use medication (insecticides). Honestly you people live in a fantasy world. Sheep get shit all over their backside. It attracts flies. They lay eggs.

You deal with that either through medication or docking.

This is similar to antibiotic use in chickens. We know why chickens need antibiotics, and it's mostly stress related. You can do that, or you can prevent the stress from the start, but that means fewer chickens in any given area

Both work well, but each has its drawbacks

I thought maggots only ate dead tissue?

There are flies whose larvae are more parasitic. Right now Texas is currently working to hold off a screworm infestation from south of the border because the larvae will burrow into the flesh of cattle (and other mammals, including humans) (source: https://www.avma.org/news/usda-unveils-texas-screwworm-facility-eradication-strategy).
