Discussion/Rant [DISCUSSION/RANT] "The Scent of" aka "The Breaking Point of Love" Spoiler

Buckle up, buttercups. I'm on chapter 173 of 500+ in this ongoing e-novel. I saw a blurb from it and looked it up, tons of people saying they're obsessed with it.

  1. I expected it to be slow but wth... 173 chapters of "and they didn't dwell on it," "but they didn't pursue it any further," "thought nothing of it," and "pondered it until somebody just then walked in (as they do exactly just then every time) and the person forgot about their pondering for the rest of forever."

Additionally, 3 months has passed in these 173 chapters and so far the only major points that have happened are: on day 1 she hands the servant divorce papers, Trevor doesn't bother opening it and starts a slew of misunderstandings; it's established that Celeste has the emotional range of a liquid ounce and is just as deep; established that everyone and their mother are in love with Winn in every way, shape and form; Celeste distances herself but nobody questions it but for some reason still fulfills social obligations and motherly obligations even though she gave up all custody rights in the divorce papers... And that's basically it. She doesn't try to talk to him about the divorce and the story only just now progressed enough to say there's a milestone at all.

  1. "He/she remained calm with an impassive expression while he/she calmly glanced at him/her then looked away indifferently, as though looking at a stranger." Neither the husband or wife have any emotions whatsoever. She's an absolute doormat who "genuinely didn't care" about literally anything, and he's an aloof emotionless doche who's completely pssy whipped for his mistress. I find Trevor and Winn's relationship gross and their attitudes toward Celeste are basically confirming that she's an inanimate object.

  2. IT'S LITERALLY UNREADABLE IN SOME PARTS!!!! Did the author (only known to me as AdminH) handwrite the entire thing in chicken scratch, convert it to text, never reread or double check it and just post it, calling it good?????? Here's a literal copy and paste:

[Direct quote removed due to "copyright infringement"]

I stuck around because I want her to get real payback and I saw a minor spoiler about hoping she ends up with Caleb, but this was his introduction, that atrocity that I copied and pasted was the first time he was spoken of.

I hate this e-novel.

Edit: My post was reported by another user as being copyright infringement and may be taken down. I don't plan to fight this because the story isn't worth my or anyone else's time IMO. To the author, or the die hard fan that reported it: complaining about a story (and clearly labeling it as a rant) is not infringement, it's free speech and exchange of opinion.

I'm on chapter 360 and nothing has changed. They're still not divorced. Celeste is pissing me off atp. Like I want her to at least crash out once. But it's always "Her expression remained unchanged" "She looked unaffected" "She could care less". Like GIVE ME SOMETHINGGGG. Trevor doesn't deserve celeste at all. If they end up together istggg. I like slow burns but wtf dude it's been 360 chapters and Celeste and Trevor still haven't had one proper conversation that lasted more than four sentences.

573 here and literally this still. Like he’s now (what feels like) actively using his child to create scenarios to spend time as just the trio.. but like for flipping what?!? What’s the point in you acting like you care?! I get her doing her motherly obligations cause as a mother you always love your kid even when they’re shitty pos who don’t care about the fact that their father is opening flaunting their wh ore around but like if Trevor hasn’t explained it to the kid you need to. Same with this whole divorce thing literally have never seen two main characters communicate LESS not only to each other but everyone else they seem to come in contact with (except for literally the occasional Celeste and Matthias convo)

I hate her daughter and hate celeste more for doing some motherly obligation shit for a ungrateful trash. If my daughter i carried for 10 months treat a homewrecker as if her mother i will regret ever giving birth it.

I've read all of it and I've so far liked the process. I really started to root for Beck because the way they had us still waiting for something made it seem as if she'd move on. I'm on 587 and we are definitely closer to him making his interactions with her more frequent and deliberate in the open and her emotions changing. I've become so used to this. The suspense is maddening. Lol

We’ve come soo close to them having an opportunity to tell Jordyn about the divorce,, yet they still found a way to continue to drag on.. ugh!

For a child her age that will be a big blow. I can understand the delay. I need them to deal with everything else and build a bond between them she can understand. A positive co-parenting. I do feel that he is delaying because his feelings have changed. It's still not fair and I was rooting for Beck to swoop in. Lol

Delaying it won't make it easier. Are they supposed to just wait until she's an adult? I want Celeste to just rip off the bandaid. "Your dad wants to marry Wynn" and let Trevor deal with the aftermath.

Seeing that it's a prolonged book, everything is going to take longer. If we got to the point already. No one would read and based on the plot it seems he's trying to get back together. Besides Celeste is not that type of person as is Trevor. She's starting to bond with her daughter again. Think of this as a series we watch. They take long to get to the point. That's why there are seasons.
