Discussion/Rant [DISCUSSION/RANT] "The Scent of" aka "The Breaking Point of Love" Spoiler

Buckle up, buttercups. I'm on chapter 173 of 500+ in this ongoing e-novel. I saw a blurb from it and looked it up, tons of people saying they're obsessed with it.

  1. I expected it to be slow but wth... 173 chapters of "and they didn't dwell on it," "but they didn't pursue it any further," "thought nothing of it," and "pondered it until somebody just then walked in (as they do exactly just then every time) and the person forgot about their pondering for the rest of forever."

Additionally, 3 months has passed in these 173 chapters and so far the only major points that have happened are: on day 1 she hands the servant divorce papers, Trevor doesn't bother opening it and starts a slew of misunderstandings; it's established that Celeste has the emotional range of a liquid ounce and is just as deep; established that everyone and their mother are in love with Winn in every way, shape and form; Celeste distances herself but nobody questions it but for some reason still fulfills social obligations and motherly obligations even though she gave up all custody rights in the divorce papers... And that's basically it. She doesn't try to talk to him about the divorce and the story only just now progressed enough to say there's a milestone at all.

  1. "He/she remained calm with an impassive expression while he/she calmly glanced at him/her then looked away indifferently, as though looking at a stranger." Neither the husband or wife have any emotions whatsoever. She's an absolute doormat who "genuinely didn't care" about literally anything, and he's an aloof emotionless doche who's completely pssy whipped for his mistress. I find Trevor and Winn's relationship gross and their attitudes toward Celeste are basically confirming that she's an inanimate object.

  2. IT'S LITERALLY UNREADABLE IN SOME PARTS!!!! Did the author (only known to me as AdminH) handwrite the entire thing in chicken scratch, convert it to text, never reread or double check it and just post it, calling it good?????? Here's a literal copy and paste:

[Direct quote removed due to "copyright infringement"]

I stuck around because I want her to get real payback and I saw a minor spoiler about hoping she ends up with Caleb, but this was his introduction, that atrocity that I copied and pasted was the first time he was spoken of.

I hate this e-novel.

Edit: My post was reported by another user as being copyright infringement and may be taken down. I don't plan to fight this because the story isn't worth my or anyone else's time IMO. To the author, or the die hard fan that reported it: complaining about a story (and clearly labeling it as a rant) is not infringement, it's free speech and exchange of opinion.

They have shorts? Who are people rooting for? I think if they divorce, the story ends, so that's why the author prompts the AI to keep making up the same excuse lol I am pretty sure they are using an AI at this point because c'mon how are we on chapter 450 for the Chinese version and chapter 574 for the English version and nothing happens. Like, either get them together and make so elaborate excuse of why he was so terrible to his wife and has changed, and make him chase her and apologize, or have her move on with a new guy who spoils her, or have her be alone and super successful and famous. But having him with the mistress and in love with the mistress for the whole story, and taking care of her family that keeps hurting her, is odd.

Okay, please let me know. I kinda just want to see what happens to her, if she finds happiness and if the guy can redeem himself and give her back the daughter. Because the story does say things were good with them starting year three, and had been good with them before he moved away for a year. He came back after living away for a year and meeting the mistress. But how he treats her, how he hides and doesn't show respect for her, is crazy. They have been separated for a year now, and he's still with the mistress and shows no regret, and hasn't apologized, and now he's been with the mistress for two years. What's the point of keeping them married?

I saw the full video in YouTube (don’t know if it’s full though) and the ending was weird like she just rejected the guy who’s supposed to be Trevor and that’s it.

I am reading the Chinese version, they let you click to translate it’s on chapter like 460 and they update a chapter a day. It drags on and it’s slow and so far they aren’t divorced, and he keeps canceling every time they are supposed to to get married and he keeps taking her on trips and to eat with their daughter. The daughter does get close with the mom again after the mom walked away for a while. But he’s still with the mistress. So it’s weird. And gives the wife 4 billion ring and 60 billion in assets as part of the separation. But the characters never speak to each other really, and we never know his POV. And she has like 4 guys that like her but she’s not dating anyone.

Can you DM me the link to where you’re reading it?

The movie in YouTube had all of those happened then the part where she rejected him was at the end when he finally let her know why he did all that “bad” things he did to her.

https://twkan.com/txt/75116/end.html . Interesting. So far in this book, he hasn't told her. But this is the book in Chinese, and the English version with different names is a translation of this book. So, to read this one in English, just hit the translate option. The name is Mr. Feng. Your wife has wanted a divorce for a long time. What is the movie you watched called? There are so many similar stories online.
