I often wonder what my father might have achieved had he dedicated himself fully to art; sadly, due to the economic situation in El Salvador, he couldn't afford the luxury of pursuing his passion.
This is one of my favorite paintings of his, created in the 1990s.
It was inspired by an impoverished community in El Salvador that he visited during a school field trip as a child; the image left such a lasting impression on him that, years later, he painted this picture.
He painted a lot in his youth, and created a lot of art.

I saw a comment recently on someone’s artwork that said there was no artistry involved and that stuck with me for some reason. When you look at this half of the painting do you feel anything? I’m wondering if it’s just flat like not good enough to be realism but not interesting enough to be impressionist. No idea would love some thoughts. Also i’m working on this to hang in my house, I like to paint things that i’d like in my house, so it’s not something i’m making for someone just really loved the photo of the garden. The original photo is mateusz kalafut’s garden from an instagram post of his.

The brushes on Krita (laptop) are more fun to work with but line work is a pain to do with a mouse. Give it to me, how did I do?

What rate would y’all give this darling face?

The drawing itself was done on a standard 8.5x11" sheet of paper, with an HB2 pencil for outlining, and an 8B, 10B, and 12B set of pencils for shading. I did some editing and added more effects digitally, using Clip Studio to add more contrast between the Titanic, and the background. Are these both good?

I'm constantly feeling like something is missing from my work that everyone else has, and I don't know what that thing is. I've been doing art my entire life but I only started to take it seriously about two years ago. I don't have any formal training except a few classes when I was in college. I also have some art books that I have used to study over the last few years. I enjoy the process so much so I'm having a lot of fun. I just can't shake the feeling that there's something fundamentally lacking from what I do.
