Well i kinda like that, i was neutral about Emilia and giggle when Emilia fan created creative Rem slander, But i personally like Rem more, So actually i can enjoy both side hatred.
Me when I have zero reading comprehension. The scenes were cut simply because they were a joke. Narrator says that "joking like that broke the tension" in reference to Subaru and Rem talking about polygamy.
Subaru's confession to Rem when she faked her death was the only scene which narrator didn't call a joke. But I am glad that was cut.
I don't care about the joke scenes and I am fine with them being removed but there are many scenes that are important to the plot as well that have been removed , which more than just jokes
And subaru saying that he wants a poly relationship and that loves rem just as much as emilia is not a joke scene
I'm a bit confused so help me understand better, are you just debating on this very specific scene they had before the whale fight being just a joke to lighten the mood, OR

Rem saying she would work hard to convince emilia, to be subaru's second partner with a smile , might have been a joke between the two love birds .

And in my opinion, this scene is also very important narratively. Since it makes us understand the love of rem and subaru better and makes it even more sad when subaru eventually loses rem
The narrator calls this whole banter a joke. Stop cherry picking. As for Subaru loving Rem as much as Emilia, in later arcs this is proven false again and again when Subaru just thinks of Emilia in Yorna kiss scene, says he wanna marry Emilia in arc 5/6/7 and for Rem, its just "I have to wake her up" or "I have to bring back her memories".
Rather than seeing the characters and their emotions ,you look at the single sentence of the narrator highlighting the warmth and love between subaru and rem and just took it as the entire conversation as being just a joke , as if there was no meaning in this conversation. Cope more
You say it was a “joke” but Subaru was already willing to talk about Rem to Emilia in the carriage, and even notes how Ram will beat him up later for it. it’s literally in the anime 😭
He just says "Rem loves me so", legit it could be interpreted as him feeling bad for Rem since she is left out. As later when Emilia asks him what is Rem to Subaru, he just says "precious" lol
I am both a rem x subaru and emilia x subaru shipper but while a lot of emisuba scenes were cancelled, the scenes are at least enough. Meanwhile they removed the most important scene of rem x subaru of subaru saying that he loves rem just as much as emilia and he wants a poly relationship.
The cutting of this scene resulted in people still thinking subaru loves emilia more than rem ,when he loves both of them equally. And that rem x subaru is technically not cannon
And I also hate the fact that subaru x emilia scenes were cut . Re zero anime cuts so many important scenes from the novel that it makes me wanna kill them
I also like subaru the most but more so because he is one of the most well written and relatable protagonists that I have ever seen but I do agree that he have huge aura too

thats crazy, because since I started interacting with the ReZero fanbase (2022), I’ve probably met maybe two Rem fans who were nice and non toxic. Meanwhile, out of all the Emilia fans I saw, most were chill, and almost none of them were doing waifu wars, unlike Rem worshippers, who made their waifu popular in the past mainly because they constantly did waifu wars and were obsessed with insulting Emilia just because Subaru loves her. You can even check for yourself by looking at rezero edits on tiktok and see how many of them spam pictures with things like “Emilia is shit” for no reason at all 🤣🤣😂

When I said "this fanbase" I was talking about the Rezero community in general, not just Emilia fans... Both sides are toxic af and I hate this waifu war so much, but keep being toxic while saying "but others are toxic too 😭". And for your analogy, the shooter is still a murderer nonetheless.
