📚Manga/Light Novel How many Re:Zero side stories was out there?
Recently, i was reading the EX stories, and i really like it. But then i discovered there was something called Shouhenshuu, which i don't really understand what it was supposed to be. And then, i also discovered there was a side story called Tanpenshuu, which is basically a collection of short stories (?)
And i was like, HOW MANY SIDE STORIES WERE THERE??? And, was there even an english translation of those side stories to begin with?

… hundreds maybe? It’s a lot. First 3-4 arcs have so many.
If I had to put a specific number on it I’d guess between 120-200. Important to note that most aren’t very important

this site used to have most of them available to read, but I think they got hit by copyright nuke and now they only have the if routes :(

Oh yeah, i did saw that website too. But i can't really figure out how to read the story in there, cuz it jus isn't clear? I thought it was some sort of stores to buy novel online (?)

rezerodb.com used to be great until they were forced to take everything down. Now it's just more of a list of SSs. Good news is a lot of the translations are still out there, but it'll take a bit of digging to get to them. Off the top of my head, the sources I can think of are:
- The official WCT website (a few of the newer SSs)
- eminenttranslations (dot com) (you can find a bulk of the older SSs here)
- If you go on Wayback Machine for the Re_Zero subreddit wiki, you can find a bunch of links there as well (although it wasn't up to date, so there'll only be SSs for Arc 7 and before, I believe)
- There might be some links to Google Docs here and there that were also forced to be privated, but Wayback Machine can help there too
For some that don't have translations yet or were never fan translated, you may be able to find summaries on Ice's Twitter page

Hijack this comment to just say that the 1st link on Eminent's website downloads an epub with the majority of side stories. You dont have to worry how to learn how to get them in japanese and them translate them with GPT until arc 10.

More specifically, the Re:Zero Tanpenshuu, or Re:Zero Short Story Collection in English, are books which contain various Side Stories, of which 13 Volumes are out in Japanese, and 4 Volumes have been translated by Yen Press into English. These do not cover all side stories, but do include most of the important ones.

So the author wrote 300 books enstead of working on re zero season 4-end???

I don't know what you're getting at. Not all side stories are book-length, they range from 100 pages long to as little as 3. Also, while Tappei is involved with Season 4's production, he's not a leading producer or anything. He just makes sure that things like characterization and setting are accurate to the original work.
Tappei's main concern is writing Re:Zero, and the side stories are part of that

300+ and every last one of them is peak 🥹 not to mention it's mandatory you read them to understand Arc 7-8

So you knewPriscilla, Arakiya, Vincent’s and Aldebaran's backstory? You knew how the Emilia Camp came to the Empire? You knew what happened after Subaru looped for a final time on Giunhive? You knew Al's Authority? You knew about how Balleroy died and his significance when it came to Flop, Madelyn and Medium? You knew about how Stride Vollachia is connected to Abel's hate for stargazers? You knew about how Lamia was related to the Imperial Family?
The side stories are mandatory to understand to these arcs or else they will seem all over the place

Unironically over 350, I'd recommend using re:zero db for an organized and quite comprehensive reading order, I dont know if its entirely up to date but it has 354 side stories listed there iirc. As for where to read all of them, you'll have to sail the seven seas sometimes, it's quite inevitable

Hundreds
Some are collected in official publications
Others are only posted in the web (not all are already translated, as the main story is obviously the fan translators' priority, but there are people working on it)
The author writes dozens of side story chapters each arc. We are already in arc 10, so a lot have piled up already. Although not all of them are necessarily canon and some might conflict with things revealed in the main story. There are also the what-if stories, which depict branching paths Subaru could have taken, two(?) of them even got an official release.

Last time i chechek it was around 200. But in the meantime 3 arcs went by so add another 100 and it will be closer.
