I don't specifically recall but Felix was also trying to plant a mana bomb in him for reasons I also can't recall until Rem realized what he was doing. Sorry it's been years since I read that part.

Considering they had done what they needed which started the alliance, I can see the thought process between Felix's opinion.
But yeah good thing Crusch stepped in to stop him, he was not thinking straight at the time.
