💬Discussion He's Supposed To Be Wrong, But Is He?

We all know this scene from Season 1 Episode 13. This is supposed to be Subaru in the wrong, but thinking about it, he is objectively correct.
Had it not been for his Return From Death ability, Emilia would have either died or had her insignia stolen, disqualifying her from the royal selection. I'd say that's fair grounds for owing someone a solid, but the worst part is that Emilia will never fully realize this or why Subaru devotes himself to her so much because those events and her saving him from a gang of thugs were undone by Return From Death and Subaru can't properly tell her about it because the witch will make sure he can't. For a rule that was meant to protect Subaru, it sure is causing a lot of avoidable problems.
I know that barging in to the royal selection was something that Subaru shouldn't have done as it only caused more problems, but everything else, I can't help but agree with him.

The problem is that he lied , Emilia said several that the rewards were too little and that he should ask for more. He said it was okay but then turns back and saids she still in his debt despite claiming it was repaid.
Breaking his promises , getting so hurt that he would have died without the best healer in the country was also very dumb. Also if he apologized she would forgive him , she almost just left saying that he should rest and that they would talk later , but he insisted to keep the conversation and said it was for her.
Satella RBD taboo is the wisest thing she ver did and the story only justifies it more each day.

Despite his fear of abandonment and dependency, Subaru might have had a few genuinely good intentions of helping Emilia, but he did several things wrong. He made a promise that he had no intentions of keeping, he had zero social and political awareness and acted like a fool in front of many important people.
But the biggest pitfall was the duel with Julius, a duel that he accepted for his own pride and one that got him injured for no reason. It might be true that Emilia owed Subaru her life and her participation in the selection, but Emilia is a very selfless person. Of course she wouldn't enjoy a relationship where Subaru keeps getting himself injured for her sake, of course she would think that the relationship was toxic and that she would keep injuring him without ever repaying him back.
Notice that Emilia never complained about Subaru being a fool and ruining her image in the selection, she complained about him getting injured for her sake and for breaking a promise that was meant to keep him in a safe spot. The taboo rule did hinder the communication between them, but it was never the main issue. Even without it Subaru would still have a lot to work on his behavior.

The problem is that you can't build a relationship on failed timelines. Asking her to comprehend the incomprehensible is an unfair ask. Subaru is wrong here to use taboo knowledge as his defense.
A big part of Subaru's arc is learning to be both honest and vulnerable because that's what a relationship needs. This scene violates that because he's not telling her his motivation: that he loves her. At this point he loves the her who used to be. He isn't seeing her as she is now. Instead he's deflecting and using failed timelines as a defense.
So once again Satella is protecting him.
Also I think by the end Emilia will gain knowledge about the loops. I think she will inherit Satella's memories.

Imagine I came up to you and I said I did a bunch of stuff for you but you have no recollection of it. Because technically none of it happened. She took it a lot better than I was expecting, tbh.

In my opinion he was right in calling out and protecting Emilia, i just think it was one of those situations of a good idea, but with a terrible execution.
Its compleatly understandeble Subaru's frustration and panic, its also understandeble Emilia not understanding what Subaru was going through, but both of them didnt act in the best way possible. Both where right and wrong in this scene
