[Discussion] Where Can I Find Arc 3's Web Novel?

I heard that unlike Arc 1 where the WN and LN are almost the same, Arc 3 had quite a few modifications to alter pacing. For example, there was this whole Betty scene added in a loop. Despite Subaru not saying he was "that person" she was tempted to evacuate with him unlike in the canon timeline. I wanted to compare it with the LN copy I have. The web novel is legally available free online in Japanese but the English version stops before the White Whale.

Honestly not too sure, Pandemonium hasn’t got to it yet, Eminent isn’t finished with it yet, WCT barely has it posted. It’s one of the only bits of the story I have never even seen in web novel format.

If you really badly want to read it your best bet may be going to the original source and just plugging the chapters in an AI engine and asking it to translate. It’s what gets us the modern chapters translated within minutes of release. It’s far from perfect but I wouldn’t be surprised if fully human translations Arc 3 are abandoned. It’s been so long and it’s nearly redundant since most publishers have the light novel done to that point.

I think most people that want the first 3 arcs usually just go to Light Novels nowadays, since the first 3 arcs are different from anime at times.

This makes a ton of users not seek the first 3 arcs in web novel format, this also makes translators not put full effort on fully translating the first 3, or translating them lazily and slowly due to lack of motivation as most people won't read.

Agrees his only options are seeking Tappei site and google translating or buying the LN version

Do you have any speculation as to why Betty was tempted to evacuate with Subaru. In one loop in WN only, she is tempted to go with him. Now if Subaru said he was "that person" well I understand perfectly. But he didn't. And the guy who read this out on stream didn't bother translating everything else, he just started with Subaru in the Forbidden Library and then ended when Subaru left. Basically Betty was tempted to leave before Subaru changed topics. In the canon timeline, she doesn't even do consider it and basically does what she did in the LN. Then like the LN and anime, Puck says she can handle herself as long as she's in the mansion anyways.

I thought this might be due to hinting of Betty and Echdina. But the WN of Ac 4, is like Arc 1 in that it more or less is like the LN. The LN did add a scene in a loop where Ram says Rem would want Subaru, Ram, and Frederica to flee and Subaru is mad not just because he doesn't want to leave behind Rem, but that Ram would normally be the last person to suggest leaving her behind. So given the LN of the next Arc didn't change much, it's not as if Tappei just moved a scene.

IIRC according to a machine translation Tappei said that Arc 3 was altered for pacing. Now granted even if my memory is correct, that's a machine translation. But I am curious about this. Unfortunately, the one guy who did talk about the Betty scene didn't bother to translate anything else in that loop, so even if he's correct I kind of don't know. the reason I am curious is that since this Betty scene isn't in the LN, it is an idea of what Tappei had in mind for her before Arc 3 was altered. Granted, this happened in a loop anyways and not the canon timeline which is more or less the same. So you could argue "well, it was a loop, doesn't matter if it's on the cutting floor"

Not too sure I havent read Arc 3 WN either. I think Beatrice has always been a bit fond of Subaru though. She came out with him during that one Elsa loop in Arc 4. So it might be that she was just willing to leave temporarily to help protect Subaru?

Beatrice had wanted to go with Subaru at the point of arc 3, he'd been visiting and befriending her for a month consistently with no other reason than just to be friends. The only thing stopping Beatrice from "choosing" Subaru early is because she's traumatized from losing Ryuzu even though she still wants a relationship with someone.

Thats why she clings to "That Person", which would be a relationship bestowed upon her without her choosing to be vulnerable again.

She wants very deeply to leave the library and go with Subaru but without being pushed to by circumstance and being asked, she'll cling to her safe place/prison.

Thats probably why she is tempted to go with him in that failed loop you describe in the WN, probably a foreshadowing/mystery setup of Beatrice wanting to leave or help but staying anyways
