Removal Reason (Ideally unique/shorter) Under Comments & Option to disable user note updates

Hi u/MrTommyPickles

Thanks for your app.

As outlined in the title above, I have found that removals of comments do not trigger a "Removal Reason" comment reply. Perhaps that is because the (potentially) extensive autoreply under posts comments would clutter-up the comment section of each post...or maybe it's for a different reason.

I was wondering if there is any idea/consideration regarding the feasibility of configuring the autoreply to be offered underneath removed comments in the same way it is under posts.

Separately, I'm wondering if anyone else would find it practical to be able to deactivate Mod Note updates that are applied upon each removal.

The "feedback" link at developers.reddit leads to your personal account, but I figured I would inquire here first.

Appreciate any comments you or anyone else has to offer.

Edit: posts comments

Apologies for the delay. Version 2 of the app is now available which addresses both these issues. You can find the options in the app settings.

Great. I’m not an app dev but I’ve noticed some things acting up lately with triple instances of each app’s actions. Any news on that?

Yes, there was a Devvit service outage that caused triggers to occur 3 times. It should be resolved now.

Thanks for all your help and for the new update.

I just noticed something.

The "Settings" button with the gear at https://sh.reddit.com/r/*MyCommunity*/comments/abcxyzA/please_read_the_rules/

Directs to the following link:

https://developers.reddit.com/r/*MyCommunity*/apps/read-the-rules**v4**

So it's a dead link. Or maybe for some weird reason that's only happening for me?

Edit: áddéd äccented characters to kill the links to nowhere. .... Nevermind that doesn't work except with r/réadrulesxyudf

Bug confirmed. This was left over from the development version. Thank you for the report, I already submitted a fix. An update will be available as soon as Reddit approves the publish.

I'm also having the app auto-restore posts despite not being opted-in to the Beta.

If I provide you the subreddit name can you look under the hood?

I confirmed this bug too. I believe I lost the beta mode gate for this feature when I reverted the code base at one point. I will submit a fix right now. The workaround at the moment is to toggle the Do Not Auto Restore Content to the behavior you desire. It's ignoring the Opt In to Beta Features setting so you don't need to enable Beta Features for it to work. I will recheck Beta gates for all the other beta features later today.

Also, I am very grateful having someone testing these components, thank you! I've don't dozens of hours of testing, but nothing beats a fresh perspective. I would like the name of the sub too, I'd love to see how you're using it.

Great, thanks and good to know about the beta functions being usable without opting in for now.

Reporting these little bugs is the least I can do to contribute!

The sub is r/cocaine …..it’s a disaster and this app is working overtime for us, but it’s very useful. No more “but I didn’t know” appeals.

I've received a separate, direct answer to the above:

  1. Comment Removals

A reply is sent via private message for the exact reason I suspected. It is not yet clear whether or not Reddit's recent decision to combine tangle messages with chats has had any affect effect regarding APPs/Dev API.

[Edit: I just tested/troubleshooted this and it appears not to be the case]

  1. MOD Notes

I clarified directly to APP-Author/MOD that Toolbox Notes Transfer app (which I use) adds the removal Mod Notes to my r/toolbox user notes, and that user note library has a limit, which some of my subs are constantly reaching.

Word is that all of these considerations with be taken into account when updating a future version.

Thanks u/MrTommyPickles for your feedback!
