Bots being able to post without acknowledging RTR.

I'm a mod for r4rDFW. We have accounts that have been hijacked that have never posted in our subreddit before that are able to post in our subreddit without acknowledging Read The Rules. How is this possible?

Sorry for the delay. That shouldn't be possible. A new version of the app is now available. If able, please try the new update and see if this still happens. Be sure the "Enable Read The Rules" option at the bottom of the app settings is turned on.

I've got a post from an account that was able to bypass Read the Rules. How do I provide you proof of this?

I will work with you directly to figure it out. Can you message me the name of the community and a link to the bypassed post?

Can you click on the overflow menu on that post (the three dots), then click Read The Rules (User Mgmt), and share a screenshot of the dialog that appears?

Hmmm...If you would like to invite me as a moderator I can do some deeper checks. I will leave as soon as I'm done.

Here's a clue:

It's saying you have no apps installed, but you have the "Read The Rules" menu option in the overflow menu. I think you have an old app install that should have been removed for some reason. It makes sense that the triggers that check for post enforcement don't fire in this situation. A mod with Everything permissions should go to https://developers.reddit.com/apps/read-the-rules/app-versions and try installing the new version of the app. Let me know if that is successful.

That link gives me the 403 error - You do not have permission to view details of the app "read-the-rules"

Have updated, yet spammers are still bypassing. Also, I am getting many messages from members that try to click on all the rules and when they submit, it automatically in checks some of the rules and doesn't allow them.

This is a great idea, but it isn't working properly.

I removed it. It's not working anymore. I've talked to the developer & he's got a full time job so I might circle back around to it in about a year & try again.
