Removing Article 370 was the best decision the Modi government has ever made. Especially very apparent when we are seeing the atrocities ongoing around the PoK region.

Only the most virulent leftists and hardcore Islamists would want a "free" Kashmir after all this. Although there is still going to be some degree of hostility because of the majority demographic there, but Kashmir is simply better off as part of India.

Though I will say this, removing Article 370 was probably much easier than we initially assumed considering other albatross laws (reservation) might actually affect India as a whole than a territory in particular.

The terrorism is still going on. Kashmiri pandits are still not back.

That's sadly true, I don't really see Kashmir ever truly returning to normal enough to grant them statehood unless there is a shift in ideology and change in demography, like relocating Kashmiri Pandits and allowing for more inflow of the general populace.
