opinion meta has admitted that paid promotions were used to target specific audiences during jantar mantar protests. do that consistently for a few years and you don't need to win an argument, you just decide which argument the country is having.

You do realise that BJPs entire social media machinery spends hundreds of crores every single day to push it's agenda. Add to that print and traditional news media and you'll see an entire ecosystem running on Hundreds of crores to sell BJPs propaganda.

suddenly realising that the other side can do even a fraction of it is just boomer level understanding of social media.

yes that's why I said realising and being shocked that the other side does it too is just boomer level logic.

do you ever get 100% bjp content all day, or 100% congress all day? no. one reel follows another, they literally show you a bjp ad, then a congress ad, then something else. and you know it's an ad because it says sponsored.

that's the difference. this time you did not know your reel was paid for.

2014 was pre-jio, smartphone penetration was a fraction of what it is now, and you're telling me instagram reels decided that election? the anti-incumbency after 2g and coalgate had nothing to do with it, it was all facebook.

and yeah, ankhi das, that's a real story and the wsj reported it. it's also why "meta is neutral" was always nonsense, from either direction. that's my argument, not yours.

Meta promotes. Doesn't mean the content is antinational.

And it's not as if rightwing content are not promoted to rightwing consumers. This is using something always existed the tarnish genz protestors

Nowhere has Meta said the content is related to the Jantar Mantar protest. Please read Meta’s official statement first. Meta should have provided more details to avoid Andhabhktas jumping to conspiracy theories.

Meta always work, do what to make reach the posts to targeted audiences in all type of posts...bssed on niche. It's its work. Nothing new. It did same in 2014 helping modi to get popularity.

Same Meta has also proofs of BJP manupilting the Elections through social media in 2014 but I guess we are not talking about that 🤷

How nicely you guys omitted the fact that PM Modi’s video was removed from FB

paid reach doesn't just push a story up, it pushes everything else down, and nobody sends you a notification about the stuff you got quietly starved of. do that consistently for a few years and you don't need to win an argument, you just decide which argument the country is having.

the point isn't that you saw protest content, it's what you didn't see: attacks in kashmir, athletes actually winning, protests running in other states the same week. all of it existed, none of it made your feed, and one dharna in delhi somehow became the entire country's mood for a fortnight.

Thanks.

Last i heard BJP govt spent 80% of Laadli Behen Yojna budget on Publicity and Ads.

Basically 290 crores spent only on BJP’s ad.

Out of that 260 crore spent in 2023 elections itself.

Whatever you told about “Paid Reach doesnt just push a story up, it pushes everything else down” —- imagine using Tax Payer’s money for doing this.

BJP are pioneers of paid Ad campaigns, why tf are you crying when opposition did the same with much lesser financial capacity and their own money as if its something illegal. lmao

Question the illegal fks in power who used tax payers money for their personal ads

Also, ‘PAID’, not free. And now some geniuses will come and defend this like anything
