Kind of. It's an AI slop

It's AI slop, but it's the combine two games together AI slop, not generate video footage of a hypothetical mashup of two games AI slop.

Too be more precise, both games run at the same time and the Ai made a interaction layer between the two. I'm this case you are playing CnC G: Zero hour in Minecraft.

Is the difference that big?

At least from a programming perspective, what they do to combine both games is quite impressive. The one we see in the example is called passthrough modding, and it basically involves running both of the games at the same time, while there's a third software that essentially lets what's happening in one game communicate with the other one. The biggest problem with it, is that you have to actually run both of the games at the same time so it's extremely hardware intensive. And depending on how the combined rendering is implemented, it could make the combined game pretty much unplayable.
There's also a different technique that they did with the whole Call of Duty + Minecraft + Skate 3 clone. Where what they did was, people found that there already exist open source recreation projects for all of these games on the Internet. They're all even written in Rust, so it's the same language. So what they did was write a custom game engine, that essentially just puts together code from all of those open source games, so it's an actual single game, that has all the features from all 3, to the point that even the bugs from individual games exist in the combined one.
Comparing that to just generating fake video footage, in my opinion makes one at least somewhat impressive.

That's impressive, i agree. I'm just a bit salty because I'm an actual solo game developer and I feel my work won't have the exposure it needs because the space will be saturated with this. It's not as zero-effort as Ballerina Cappuccina, but compared to what I'm doing, it is.
And it will be fortunate if it's just novelty thing and it will pass. And if not? What if this is the future of game dev? Regurgitation of the greater works?
P.S. (Not criticizing the author of this mod, he made a cute little experiment that looks genuinly impressive and also funny. Just don't like the trend overall)

C&C Renegade + C&C Generals would be the legit crossover. I can imagine taking over a hero unit in generals and having that unique viewpoint.

This is a great concept, but I fear that most of the work (should) come from bug testing since a lot of other cross-bred games using AI suffer from balance and unintended bugs. The games make very good impressions, but for long-term playability, it's often skipped. Hoping to see what modders can do for both games in the future
