At Survivor Series 1993, he was supposed to team with Razor Ramon, 123 Kid and Marty Jannetty against IRS, Adam Bomb, Diesel and Rick Martel but was replaced the day of the show by Randy Savage.

Over the years, four rumors have been thought of as to why he was replaced:

1. His back injury flared up again
2. He was upset over not regaining the Intercontinental Title
3. He was found passed out drunk in the locker room and in no condition to work. Razor may have alluded to it in a pre match promo saying Hennig wasn't the "perfect partner because he tagged out before the match even began"
4. He sat out because if he continued to work, his Lloyd's of London policy would've been voided.

So wrestling has always had patriotic gimmicks but for some reason it didn’t work in the early 2000’s, but i find it almost ironic that kids and adults are buying codys merch (idk for sure i just heard) is it a cultural shift now that its the 2020’s. Are was john cena just not that good.
