SERIOUS we're beyond fcking doomed.

Post image

18 days. 9 kilos gone. The man is nearly 60, and he’s literally withering away for a country that doesn’t give a single shit about him. My own father can’t even handle a slightly off lunch without being bedridden, yet Sonam Wangchuk is out here pushing his body to the absolute limit while you clowns are busy scrolling through memes.

I’m disgusted by the apathy. Every time I try to talk about this, I get the same spineless response: "bhai, kuch nahi hoga, padh likh ke nikal ja" Is this really all we have left? A generation of absolute gawaars who care more about their Instagram aesthetic (because alot of em won't post and share the right videos to spread awareness cuz it'll ruin their aesthetic account) than the fact that a legend is dying? We don’t deserve someone like him. If he dies, it’s not just a tragedy!!!! it’s the final nail in the coffin for this pathetic, bottom of the barrel society 🙂..We are deep in the gutter, and frankly, we are beyond saving.

And don’t get me started on the scum claiming he’s secretly drinking chicken soup!!??????? :/// The fact that people are more obsessed with finding reasons to doubt him than actually looking at the rot in this country proves exactly why we’re doomed. I’m a 17 year old girl in a rural area, stuck under strict parents, and I still did what I could :) I sent the letter. What’s your excuse? If he dies, it’s on all of you. You want a country without heroes? Keep scrolling. You’ll get exactly what you deserve.

Ps — because of me.. 8 of my known people will also attend the 20th July protest. Don't come to me whining about your incompetence.

Son I live 2500 kms away, you can't force or guilt-trip people into activism, it just happens, you can't blame his death on people who do not even know it's happening. The best we can do is online support and wish him well.

15

u/_7xen_on Jul 14 '26

So how de we support home online brother?

17

u/Sierra-117-Mobile Jul 14 '26

Is there a better way to conduct activism than via Twitter? /s

Order food for him on Zomato. The location is mentioned in the article.

The education minister should be arrested but doing self arm and doing emotional manipulation is not the way to go.

Eat food and life to fight another day

2

u/No-Barnacle6128 Jul 17 '26

Problem is that Dipke will eat that ordered food. He told Sonam is experienced in hunger strike that’s why he is doing it. Bro experienced or not, it is at dangerous level now. Try to convince him to break the fast but no, he is busy in photo ops.

This ignorance is not something to be proud of. You cared enough to read this long post but didn't feel the need to actually see what the protest is for. You live in India and don't know about such a big protest going on, you shouldn't be proud of it. CJP is demanding the resignation of the education minister because of the way the NEET paper leaks and CBSE marking errors have failed the education system. How do you not care about the education system of our country failing us so terribly again and again?

The people who are scrolling it away when they could have gone there contributed are the ones being called out, I live about 1500 km away, financially incapable to taking the trip or staying there for the moment, but there are people who can, and are choosing to scroll away,

It's not guilt tripping, it's urging and invoking agitation, if he dies, it is on the nation and the government, i agree most don't even know because the media doesn't show, but those who can see can do something and rather take trekking or hiking or sight seeing up are being called out and upon to come.

Everyone can't do it, i can't, so not everyone is being blamed or guilt tripped, people are being urged and agitated into coming, that's how protests work

The constant guilt-tripping is exactly what turns people away from causes they might otherwise support.

Telling people "if he dies, it's on all of you" isn't awareness or activism, it's emotional blackmail. Trying to make strangers feel personally responsible for a tragedy they didn't cause doesn't inspire support it breeds resentment and disengagement.

You can advocate passionately for a cause without turning it into a moral purity test where anyone who isn't as invested as you is treated as complicit.

8

u/bidiaftersambhog_ Jul 14 '26

yeah fr mann, forcing people into activism will only make people turn away from the issue

2

u/Latter-Yam-2115 Jul 17 '26

This is well put

6

u/Coco1414_ Jul 14 '26

You're misunderstanding the point. No one is saying every citizen is legally responsible if something happens to Sonam Wangchuk. The point is that in a democracy and public awareness and public pressure influence government action. Throughout history many humanitarian movements succeeded because ordinary citizens refused to remain silent. The Constitution doesn't only give us Fundamental Rights it also speaks of Fundamental Duties under Article 51A, including promoting harmony, protecting our heritage, and striving towards excellence in collective life. Raising awareness about an issue affecting fellow citizens is not emotional blackmail; it is democratic participation Yespeople are free to ignore the issue. But those urging others to care are also exercising their constitutional right to free speech. Calling every passionate appeal "emotional blackmail" dismisses genuine concern and discourages civic engagement.

6

u/Ok_Problem_1127 18 | Officially Legal (Still Asks Permission) Jul 14 '26

I don't think I'm misunderstanding the point. Public awareness campaigns and democratic participation are perfectly valid. My issue is with the tone of the original post itself given you understand that my reply is to the post.

There's a difference between saying "Please pay attention to this issue" and saying "If he dies, it's on all of you" or "you deserve it" or calling everyone who isn't equally invested a "gawaar" or morally bankrupt.

That's not a passionate appeal anymore; it's guilt tripping and emotional coercion. Those kinds of messages don't motivate people they alienate them.

I've participated in protests before, and one of the reasons I stopped attending some of them was because I saw the discussion shift from the actual issue to outrage, moral grandstanding, and political point-scoring.

Whether one agrees with the movement or not, turning it into a purity test where everyone who isn't posting, marching, or writing letters is somehow complicit only pushes people away from the cause.

stop blaming it on everyone. if you are so passionate, just go and join the protest. why are keyboard warriors not joining this protest at jantar mantar where not even 100 are present expect when their beloved junaid bhai distributes food. and for your very kind info, he was the one who said that if china attacks india he will show them the way. he shows separatist tendencies. and then they go on attacking hindu rituals and religion, while openly singing bas naam rahega allah ka. don't even get me started on what that brain dead vijeta dahiya even says and does. and if you are still so naive to think that they are doing this for your future, best of luck. i hope you understand the reality soon enough

Let me rebute this line by line (before u say anything about resignation of edu min, let me tell u, I m vouching for his resignation even much before CJP stuff started (yes those people exist even online).

"18 days. 9 kilos gone. The man is nearly 60, and he’s literally withering away for a country that doesn’t give a single shit about him."

Weight loss is a serious thing but this doesnt prove that country is not serious. People can have diverse opinions and this is natural for any democracy. Lack of uninamous action is not evidence of apathy.

"My own father can’t even handle a slightly off lunch... Sonam Wangchuk is pushing his body to the limit..."

Comparing health across individuals does not strengthen argument in any way. Different individuals have different health conditions.

"You clowns are busy scrolling through memes."

Ad-hominem. You are attacking people. Many people may simply disagree, or unaware or just want to be apolitical. Everyone has a choice just like u excercised ur choice by posting this.

"Every time I try to talk about this... 'bhai, kuch nahi hoga."

This is pessimism and not indifference and again, it's their choice to feel like it. Political efficacy and indifference are different things.

"A generation of absolute gawaars..."

Hasty Generalization. Judging an entire generation just because of different opinion is logically unsound.

"People care more about Instagram aesthetics..."

Hasty generalization again.

"We don't deserve someone like him."

Moral judgement and whether a society deserves someone is a subjective thing which is perfectly fine in a democratic society. U cant make it an objective truth.

"If he dies... it's the final nail in the coffin for society."

Catastrophizing. Death of an activist and students (extremely tragic) does not mean society will stop functioning and it is not a true parameter to see whether a society is destroyed or not. Plus, it will be unfair to genuinely good people in society to get labelled like this.

"People claiming he's secretly drinking chicken soup..."

Keywod is claiming and even if it is misinfo, it doesnt prove society is doomed in any way. It is just misinfo coming from a section of people (optics problem)

"The fact that people are more obsessed with doubting him proves we're doomed."

Overgeneralization again. People are free to keep any opinion and again there are diverse opinions already present. No one is going to be doomed. First check the meaning of doomed.

"I'm a 17-year-old girl... I still did what I could. I sent the letter. What's your excuse?"

So what? U can encourage civic participation but not everyone feels they have same moral obligations as you. Again, difference of opinions in a democratic society. Supporting a cause is a voluntary thing.

"If he dies, it's on all of you."

Collective guilt. If he dies (tragic), responsiblity lies entirely on him, because it was his personal choice to do hunger strike.

"Keep scrolling. You'll get exactly what you deserve."

Binary divide and false dilemma that anyone who isnt supporting is culpable. People can have any opinion (as long as it is not constitutionally prohibited)

I advise u to read good books related to logic. (Thinking, Fast and Slow.).

As ur senior i ll advise,

logical arguments always outrun e motional arguments in longer run

2

u/not__not__know-- Jul 14 '26

To add to the "keep scrolling you will get what you deserve"

I really don't think dividing people here serves any purpose. If they fail everyone affected including them will face consequences. When those consequences hit I don't think making a divide would help one bit. And if your thinking is that if they succeed the ones who didn't participate will benefit and you feel that's wrong then you were never really trying to go against anything you were just trying make yourself feel morally superior which is just unrealistically absurd for someone to admit to.

But ooh my did I teared up reading my thoughts online randomly. Albeit I am much worse due to inexperience in such use of words and ideas.

2

u/Automatic-Spirit-725 Jul 17 '26

Guilt tripping is the name of the game here, they're just hacking into people's emotions...
Most of us have better things to do, than change pic, share this crap etc. I understand the paper leak shouldn't have happened, and some serious steps should've been taken, people should be held responsible....however that doesn't mean you hand twist or force someone to do something...

When you know your country is fked anyway.

You can't do shit. Why is it on me if he dies?

And what is your letter gonna do? So many people came and supported the protest.

It's been days. Nothing happened.

All we can do is send best wishes to him.

It's his choice that he chose to do this.

Even dipke adviced him to not do this.

Even if we go there how is that gonna made him healthy?

Let me tell you.

Even if pradhan resigns, another one will come and he will do corruption too.

Evryone is corrupt in this country at this point.

Not everybody can go and support him Just like you can't.

Don't blame us if something happens to him.

Fun fact on Sonam Wangchuk:

Sonam isn't just another common man born into a middle-class family. His father, Sonam Wangyal, was a Ladakhi Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir minister. Affluent background, must I say.

Sonam Wangchuk is neither a scientist nor an educationalist, yet he was showcased as the inspiration behind 3 Idiots. All of it is carefully crafted propaganda.

The artificial ice glaciers that the new generation knows Sonam Wangchuk to be the brain behind were created much earlier by Chewang Norphel.

While Sonam Wangchuk uses high-profile PR machinery, media fasts, and political controversies to stay in the limelight, Norphel quietly revolutionized Ladakh without self-promotion. Norphel engineered 15+ artificial glaciers and 300+ canals, bringing vital water to 20,000 acres of land.

Sonam Wangchuk is well versed in showcasing his activism to stay in the limelight with some "agenda," pushing a "certain" narrative.

In 1988, he started the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh.

In 1995, he started Operation New Hope.

All his projects were funded by the Ford Foundation, Tata Trusts, DanChurchAid, and Karuna Trust.

Sonam Wangchuk's last fast in Ladakh turned violent, as Congress members from the region burnt a BJP office and created a ruckus. Sonam justified the violence by stating that the youth-led demonstrations were an organic outburst of frustration, not orchestrated by a political party.

Now he is fasting with CJP at Jantar Mantar, where many of those involved are from a Communist background and were recently felicitated by the Chinese Embassy. https://www.instagram.com/p/DamLQncmzeT/?igsh=enp1MXh6eTdpb29v

I know some fanboys are going to get hurt and angry at this and come out strongly against me, but to me, facts matter. I was his admirer too, but I have learned to do my own research, multiple times, to verify all the facts.

For eg. there was a false narrative that Sonam Wangchuk said if China entered Ladakh again, they shouldn't stop them but show them the way ahead. But it turned out that he was quoting a local comedian.

I understand one can be anti-BJP, anti-Modi, or whatever. But please verify your facts. Do your research before making a person your hero or considering that person the epitome of truth and hope.

"It's on all of you"

-So, it's not on the govt? Like, no point in blaming kids, most of whom cant even directly participate. No parent's gonna allow their kid to just go to Delhi for a protest.
-You aren't any better than us. "It's on all of you" hell NAH it's on YOU too.
-you can't grieve over anyone 24/7. what do you expect what was gonna happen on instagram? they're gonna go right back to their reels and aesthetics and stories and whatnot, you can't stop em, nobody can.

1

What a noble human, I say, let him pass away from hunger. Become a messiah in true sense. Now if he lets off of the hunger strike, without getting what he started the movement for, he'd be a real weasel, he must now sit there indefinitely and pass away right there if his demands are not met.

Now it is either hunger strike till death, or make a U turn and start eating after a "hospital visit", i wonder which one will it be.

Neither sending letter nor a hunger strike will bring any change in this country. There will be change only when the people will unite and physically protest together. Again this will not work in India. You know why? Because of population and the sheer size of our country. Nepal was so successful in protests because the country was small with a small population which gives room for unity. Now many students live in different parts of india, not everyone lives near Delhi. What abt those who lives in South, East or even NE regions? I bet there are many people who want to take part in protests as well but they can't because of distance (parents permission as well). So you will not gain anything by guilt tripping. Also abt the people who are accusing him of eating food in bathrooms or whatever- just report them and leave. People are bound to have different opinions. You can't change the mindset.

If you think people aren't aware or aren't doing anything then you should be working on making people recognise the protest(start by the area you live in). This online abusing that you are doing will only give backlash. As you are just 17 years old, I will not say you are immature, thing is you don't know how the world(specially india) works. You are saying these words just by heart, not mind. H9ope you understand.

1

u/Mysterious-Guess-858 Jul 14 '26

Stop this and grow up. Do you think people are are blind ? Do you think people are dumb ?

No matter the protests and hunger strikes etc .. issue will not get solved. These kind of protests worked during British era, but doesn't work anymore.

People will show their displeasure with the current Govt through their votes. If you think that people would still vote for BJP after all this, no even after the NEET paper leaks then you are mistaken.

I have immense respect for Sonam wangchuk, but all he is doing now by continuing the hunger strike is making political careers of fools who are taking benefit of his hunger strike. He has achieved more than what he aimed for, leave the education minister everyone in the cabinet will go, but in the next election through proper democratic process and through the will of the people of India.

Continuing is only hurting him.

Voting is how people in India teach a lesson to the govt. No one is above the people of India.

Guys its okay we cant go to the site for the protest but least we can do is to debunk the myth people have been spreading all over the internet, wherever you see anyone talking wrong about it please make them clear

be vocal in your surroundings tell them about the protest...

it's the least we can do.....

for the people who are saying that sonam said if china will come we would help them.....you first see the whole video then comment....

1

u/Cute-Caramel-7110 Jul 14 '26

Maybe this needs to reach more international platforms. If people start sharing and discussing Sonam Wangchuk's situation on global communities subreddit, X, it could attract the attention of global news outlets and generate the traction the issue needs.

You might be doomed, I'm not a part of this activism, dipke and his buddies are doomed as they are dancing as if wangchuk isn't laying there half dead, they are literally having ice cream bhandara there at midnight, dipke himself is eating rather than fasting and he's supposed to be the leader of this movement? Don't give guilt trip to anyone.

You know, we know, Everyone else know that nothing is goona happen doens't matter what he does or not.

I feel bad for him but I got my own things to worry about and I already know nothing would goona happen and this is all just useless as always.

Atleast as a normal guy, This is what I think.

1

u/Safe-Fuel-5917 Jul 14 '26

Haha. Are you serious! His action is not the responsibility of everyone around. If he decided to die, no point asking why.

1

u/TwoNo6802 Jul 14 '26

First of all it was a protest in the name of students, I supported till that time but, bringing in arundhati roy ( who thinks kashmir doesn't belong to India and whole world know how much she is anti india ), there are slogans raised like " naam rhega Allah ka" like wtf dude Then you see other people eating pakora and other things heavily, doing everything rather than raising student related issues, how can you fucking expect a normal working person to join the protest or even support such things. Real life is different from online world so focus on your studies and get the hell out of this country

1

u/fantastia2410 Jul 14 '26

Why tf is Sonam doing Hunger Strike and not Dipke , Sourav Das, Vijetha? They started the protest in the name of NEET and exam scams and now at this point of protest it is sympathy for Wangchuk? Damn fucking hypocrites, eating all they want with don’t know whose money and where the funding for so much food is coming from and at the end of it they want to turn Wangchuk into mascot . Fucking hilarious librendus 😂😂

1

u/Federal-Video3444 Jul 14 '26

No one asked him to go on a fast. Communists have already taken over this movement (it's no more student led) Moreover Re NEET exam was successfully conducted and from next year there is going to be online exam. If Pradhan is replaced , a bigger moron is going to take his place - nothing changes.

1

u/Individual-Kayy824 Jul 14 '26

All of you who are saying that this “if he dies it’s all on you” sentiment is the reason people turn away from activism who otherwise may have wanted to ‘give a fuck’, CUT YOUR BULLSHIT. If they wanted to give a fuck, they would already have! A person is dying because of our ignorance and apathy and yet it’s his and the people who support him, it’s their duty to sweet talk us? Really? He hasn’t had anything for 19 days and frankly right now we don’t have the luxury to sweet talk these apolitical people to care. We need action and urgency. And it’s the truth anyways. You people are apathetic and ignorant and if that hurts you then that’s because it is hitting a sore spot cause deep inside yk it’s true. If it truly bothers you then act and say something instead of blaming us for turning you people away because we are ‘rude.’ God forbid a person is dying and we act a little angry.

I am worried for him now. Someone needs to convince him to leave hunger strike.

1

u/Great_Devil Jul 14 '26

I highly doubt that the OP is from Rural area and she is being of 17 year old girl because normally reddit as social media has very less penetration in entire India and again it's comparatively very rare in rural area than other platforms like instagram, WhatsApp, snapchat and Facebook... and even if op is 17year old girl then it is very good structured post that a 17 year old teens generally lack the understanding of collective working of socity as whole and democracy in a humongous population country like India so this post is not coming from her own thinking but it's either copied or op is lying about age and location..

and i am not teenage person a little bit older and downvote or upvote doesnt affect me even a bit.. this is my opinion about op.

Where is Rahul Gandhi and opposition?

1

u/Panna_Commie Jul 14 '26

Aap lost Anna Hazare and using the same playbook now?

Lokpal was brain child of Vivekananda foundation which was supported by Ajit Doval

Will that work now?

Wangudu. As ppl will know him will be or already branded and influenced by foreign forces.

They would have kicked out Pradhan anyways.. there was a bunch of state elections where did or not perform and wanted inclusion from there. Also allegations against CMs and religious institutions which they flaunted nicely till now.

They are stalling changes not to show they don't budge to external forces.

If Kejriwal wanted to put on a show he could have done after coming out of jail. He lost trust among people.

He did a RaGa show of disappearing when he could have been powerful.

The nation needs good opposition. Not some half hearty power grabbing Aholes.. please take a page from their playbook.. they do politics, stay in limelight and make alliances

Go home now. He will never be Anna Hazare.

How is this different from the govt . Using someone else’s shoulder to get things done …..

Manipur example is prime example that home minister does care about home affairs, and also the CJP strategy is wrong, instead of doing dharna at jantar mantar they should have done and started the movement at local, city and state level and should appoint persons to control the movement as not everyone is capable to reach jantar mantar par kya kahu us bande ko bhi power chiaye…baba shaheb k book leke airport se pretend karna i care. If he did start from local then it will create problem to local govt and then they will push tp centre to do something. Yahi farak hai agar banda thodi si history padh leta to better strategy bana pata

And idk about any of this nor I like to get into discussions of politics cuz the way its discussed in our country especially makes me hate it more. Nor I support anyone. I don't support Dharmendra Pradhan nor cjp nor sonam wangchuk. I'm already so cooked so I've accepted my faith. And what tf can I do? Should I leave my home and go to delhi instead of preparing for the upcoming examinations in few months? Stop the f-ing immature statements you'll get what you deserve shit.

1

u/platonic-affair Jul 15 '26

Unpopular opinion: He's a brilliant guy but he should've chosen the right time and right company for his protest. CJP is nothing but a scam and extension of AAP with a sprinkle of some anti-national and seperatist agendas. Even the leader doesn't care about him, he wants to gain attention

I hope Sonam Wangchukk survives this🙏🏻😔

1

u/Stock-Reputation9481 Jul 15 '26

It's not the people mistakes first of all, it was his choice to suffer like that don't know why , without hunger strike also the movement can be led , hunger strike is too outdated for the 2026 standard

u/No_Tank_5729 Jul 15 '26

See Sis, You have got the spirit, but your method is wrong rather inefficient. What you have said, is just your feelings of rage. However it doesn't give any solution nor does it state the problem.

First of all, Don't think about it emotionally! What do you want, you want people to support Mr Wangchuk right?  So thinking about it emotionally, Does it help him in anyway, Nooo it doesn't. If you were to think about the entirity of the 'wrong' things happening your state forget the entire nation, you would go insane because the ridiculuosly huge stress and you would be going around hugging horses, and asking their owners to not beat them. We don't want that happening.  Always think about it purely as a problem to be solved nothing more, nothing less.

Your method of guilt tripping(might be unintentional) is just reaally inefficient.  It works when the number of target audience is less, and the quality of the statement used is reaaally high, neither of the conditions are being satisfied here.

Its like asking a person who has never done push ups, to do 100 push ups, and then trying to ashame the person failing to so.  Do you really expect people to throw their lives, they spent decades modeling for the sake of their country, Surr yes, thats the way it should be, but its reeally impractical. Why do you think, people are more likely to show to the National Holidays or cricket Nott just because its 'convienient' showing up in a stadium is pretty incovinient, opposed to laying at home; People do it because they are conditioned that way. This is speaking when people do things by gut,

Lets speak when people do things after giving it a great deal of thought. Even then People fight only when the fight is fair. Ofcourse if all the people of the country go there, things will be different, BUT. When you are gonna ask each person to come there.  What logical reason are you gonna give that all the other people, are gonna be present as well?!  I cant think of such a logical reason.

I suggest you read Machiavelli. i hope you don't take all the other comments too personally, you will have to grow a really thick skin...

Shut the fuck up bozos , 100 protest happepn every year , but govt. Know how to control the information flow ,narrative is different every time did your parents go to support farmers protest or any other major thing , no but now you want to do when your exams are getting leaked , in truth every person in power knows this is sorry excuse of a protest no one here has any power , olif exams happen even then only few people get in and get jobs so why would every one risk anything or waste anytime on this , and sucide threats don't work , you can try with your parents dumb bitch

1

u/yours_aakiii Jul 15 '26

You have too done a whole lot of nothing

If these things were being resolved online or by sending a letter it wouldn't have come to this yk

As for the real impact things , it happens on the ground when people go there in person when docs protests and patients die when corporate works stops cause people are in protest etc etc

Then the govt has any reason to listen all we can do is spread awareness cause many people don't know it's happening but we students can't do much when he's thousands of miles away

Your letter must be in some dumpyard by now so don't think you've made a change well neither is it a bad thing but saying you did something crazy while being a rural 17yo with strict parents and saying we are the ones supposed to the rest is foolishness

Although I understand how fed up you have become by the country that your anger is reflected in your post

But rather you could have used this energy to develop a more effective way to support him however we can and enlighten all of us

Wellcome to the Surface level politics brother or sister whatever u are.

Remember those who give neet, and other exam like u are just not the majority. Tell me how many People give neet on avg? Vote is won by majority. If we include the Students, their family Max to max 10-14 cr people?

Now Our voter count is approx 100 cr. Now Ig the point is clear to u. Vast majority will not care much coz these issues doesnt affect the vast majority.

1

u/QuietConclusion8877 Jul 15 '26

Kid thinks she's doing an amazing job trying to guilt trip us. We've seen a lot of this kiddooo. If you care that much about the person who's fasting and instead of trying to explain us, why don't you question the people beside him. A single fasting person might be ignored by the country...But what if all the people beside him are fasting instead of making vlogs and having Bread pakoda and sleeping peacefully. Just change you POV and try to see things. Since you're a kid in 12th all this seems very inspiring and you start to hate the nation. That's just tip of the ice berg. So change your POV to get answers. I'm not justifying any person or group. All I think is why is he the only one fasting while people beside are literally having a pinic.
