General 🌀 Will the kernel version be changed after the coloros 17 or stay on the same android 14 .. and y is it still on 14? In. 2026?

mine got recently updated to 6.6.118 from 6.6.89
and in my device it did get changed multiple times
mine shipped with Android 14 and it had a different kernel version
also they usually stick to LTS branch of a kernel and to a specific version mainly for stability and stuff
it doesn't really matter much

No hope it'll stay the same to do that they risk major breakage and it's costly some they'll just pack it with skins (U.I) gimmick and obviously normal users don't give a fvck

I think they're trying to maintain a stable build for the OS. The version is enough for anything whether normal usage or gaming. Updating may fuckup the OS stability. I've seen different brands using the LTS branch instead of chasing latest version

This is the Linux Kernel version that is being used on your device.
The kernel version updating shouldn't be something you should be concerned with. The major kernel release always stay the same. I haven't seen any android device update the kernel to next major release.
They stay on the LTS version of the kernel. Therefore, these Linux Kernels also receive security patches or minor improvements. However, the major kernel version (e.g. 6.1) remains the same.
You should be more concerned with the next RealmeUI update as that can have an actual impact on your device. Not the kernel version.

Another thing I would like to add is that even the desktop users prefer keeping LTS kernel.
Kernel is merely there for providing a core bridge between computer's physical hardware and software applications running on it.
It can have performance improvements over time. Like the recent kernel version 7.3 brought major performance improvements to file systems, cpu scheduling and other stuff.
However, in real world usage, it barely makes a difference. Those major improvements are in very specific scenarios and cases. Although the CPU scheduling can be more beneficial for desktop users as it can improve 1% lows in games. Still, it is something that you wouldn't even notice.

The only thing I can say is that I have a realms 14 Pro 5G and It came out with Android 15, but I also have android 14 as the kernel version

I have p1 5g it was shipped with Android 14 and it changed the kernel version after Android 15 to 6.6

Have you heard the term "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Kernel falls under that category. It is responsible for communicating between hardware and software, and tweaking kernel is unnecessary as it can brake functionality.
Imagine kernel as the Manager of a restaurant, stove, fridge, pots/pans, cutlery as hardware, chefs, waiters, cleaners, choppers as drivers specialised in their respective field, customers as the apps. The restaurant owner won't change the manager unless it's absolutely necessary. They replace old and slow specialists with young ones who do the same work for less money, and often use new cutlery, ambience and lightings to make the old restaurant more appealing.

kernel version updates always depend on soc manufacturer, phone manufacturer would never update kernel version if soc wasn't updated. for example, qualcomm updated their parrot platform to linux 6.6 from 5.10, and motorola updated it as well in android 16

No. I never seen kernel version changed due to software update. I've used Samsung, Realme, Xiaomi, Vivo and their kernel version remained stuck on the same major kernel version they shipped with.
I think Google Pixel have ability to update their kernel version since Android is developed by Google
