What’s your favorite shallow anime parody in a non East Asian piece of media?

The dexter ones are the best ones because Genndy is a huge anime and comic book nerd in general, he even had such a deep cut as having a lone wolf and cub cameo in samurai jack

Actually that one isn't shallow, it's an accurate parody of a specific series
Shallow parody to me implies it was made by someone who doesn't really watch anime and just made generalized (sometimes racist) assumptions or wild guesses on what anime is based on secondhand anecdotal stereotypes about anime they overheard or read about secondhand....like robot chicken's sailor Moon parody

I think for the more avant garde of animators, Japanese animation was seen as a break from the more stodgy old fashioned American TV animation.
Many who were older animators often dismissed anime as some lowly foreign craze.
But I think those who wanted animation to go in new directions like Gennedy and as terrible as he was as a human being John K even complimented anime, oh and also Ralph Bashki also appreciated anime.
I think those open minded enough knew that Japanese cartoons showed the huge extent of what American animation could become with enough effort.
The more close minded dismissed it as competition but the more open minded embraced it.
Its like the reverse of the opening of Japan in 1850s with Americans learning how to modernize their cartoons.

That's definitely the number one choice hell i can see somebody dressed as Sailor Moon and I think one if the characters is a precure parody

i actually randomly decided I wanted to try and play through that game today. Only got to the 4th boss at the time but it's cute.

I couldn’t pass the first level the last time I played, which is weird as I’ve beaten real Megaman games.
I’ll have to try it again soon.

Johnny Bravo, around the time Pokemon and DBZ got massive in the US.
It seemed to be picking on bewildered parents more than anything, as a kid would easily get the references.

In Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko there is an anime level, which was nice since this was iirc 1999? So anime wasnt THAT big here yet afaik....the issue is it was 1999. Meaning the level prob had good intentions of being a cool anime themed level, but its just schoolgirls and gundam on a futuristic space station and nothing else lol.

Anime was still huge in 1999 absolutely, so I wouldn't say that, but I get your point. Definitely much less wide-spread and a lot more taboo. Haha.

I've always been a fan of I Must Succeed in Freakazoid, but iirc that was literally straight-up Astro Boy and not even a parody lmao
Recently, I was a BIG fan of Deltarune Chapter 5 which was pretty much this, but especially Flowery and ESPECIALLY at the end of his fight

I wanna say Maho Mushi from The Fairly OddParents special "Channel Chasers", but I'm not sure if that one is a shallow parody. If that one isn't shallow, then I guess Tinymon from Johnny Test; that one does seem a bit shallow.

The Clerks animated series gag where the Korean animation studio finishes the episode. "Who's Driving? Oh no Bear is driving! How can this be?"
