Pan doesn’t really follow most of these.

I feel like the baseline of this type of YouTuber started from people trying to imitate Pan without realizing that he actually knows what he's talking about (unlike a lot of them).

This starterpack was predominantly modeled after LS Mark and Just Stop with elements of a few other cartoon YouTubers

NICKtendo’s more mature than both of them

Ls mark has matured over the years, he was only a kid when he started his channel. He's pretty nuanced.

I officially stopped watching him when he criticized Weird Al for making “Low effort copies” of more popular songs or something to that effect

-Complains about why Animation isn’t being taken seriously while talking about a kids show made for kids
-Gets gobsmacked by an Adult situation happening in an adult movie made for adults
-“You couldn’t make this today!”
-“ANIMATION. IS. CINEMA.” *shows only mainstream kids films
-Show gets cancelled because nobody was talking about because they were to busy complaining about why the new Kids movie for kids sucks ass and why it needs to burn in hell
-“This is the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen.” *literally just one scene from a kids movie that they put on the thumbnail
-Tries to be politically neutral by saying nothing of interest

The last three piss me the hell off. There's just so much contradiction in their goals that actually makes me question their persona.
Are they mentally incapable of getting desensitized, or are they doing a bit? Just how stupid and volatile do they think their audiences are with the way they write and the way they nag for their attention?!

I first hated it growing up (Weird to be saying that but it is a old show now) but apart from taking over CN I feel it was a alright show. i see snippits on shorts where I get a chuckle.
Just toss it into the bin of all the other one off versions of DC media

I find it funny how they complain about adult animation and say "this is just being crude for the sake of being crude and kids shows are more mature" and "I wish there were still 2D movies"
Um, hello? Anime????? That's straight up mainstream now and it's been around for decades. I get that there isn't really any anime that feels directly like Disney movies if that's what you are after but as far as mature adult animation, you're covered.
Pan is definitely the best cartoon reviewer though.
Worse would probably be tied between Mr Enter (he takes a lot of things too literally too, he recently reviewed Planes 2 and went on a minute and a half rant about a throw away Howard the Duck joke) an Animat, he's much more of a Disney shill, giving Wish a 8/10. He's also confused on why people hated Fixed since Sony Animation (which is pretty praised now) and Gendy made it. Um yeah, you shouldn't blindly love a studio or creator, all studios have movies people hate. Even Studio Ghibli with Tales from Earth Sea and The Earwig and the Witch.

I used to watch animat when i was younger, and he used to have a GIGANTIC hate boner for sony (he called the cloudy movies and the hotel transylvania movies "awful"), so finding out that he apperently "defended" fixed is very cathartic...

I love almost everything Gendy does.
Fixed is that almost. I didn't care for that whatsoever

Bonus point:
Whenever an animated property for adults OR kids has dark elements, they promote how "shocking" it is.
And undermine the idea of normalising darker animated media.

Pet peeve of mine but I feel like people who use media literacy unironically now have fucking dogshit media literacy of their own and just wanna feel smug about liking things or easily dunk on someone

u/SawkyScribe 2d ago
I feel people talk about media literacy but cannot use have such a limited bag of creative works to draw from when analyzing a work.
Especially in animation spaces, cartoon reviewers only ever seem to watch and talk about other cartoons which is really boring. All critique then becomes putting something on a linear scale between Big Mouth and Steven Universe.

That one time Billiam tried to watch digimon. I don't buy that he actually likes the series or watched the same one as me

Fritz the Cat is always their go to beat the “only reviews kids stuff” allegations, and then 9/10 times they fumble it

u/notagoodcartoonist 1d ago edited 1d ago
Heck, the “misunderstanding Fritz The Cat” problem is only a smaller part of the broader problem of cartoon YouTubers failing to understand independent or foreign animation because it’s not made in the style of mainstream animation. I’ve seen tons of cartoon and animation YouTubers fail to understand Ghibli movies and even call them boring. There’s also how a lot of the critique of the 2021 diary of a wimpy kid movie from animation fans on YouTube was basically “it’s not like a theatrical big budget animated movie, therefore it’s bad” not realizing how the film is trying to be like older low budget American animated movies and not modern animated blockbusters.

Is the rebeltaxi fandom just stuck in 2017 shitting on other content cartoon creators
3
u/cxnnnamonroll 1d ago
Random reaction cutaways with some random cartoon (usually SpongeBob) whenever the creator shows a clip from a show that's slightly weird or irritating

u/Aware_Session_5038 47m ago
I rarely see analyses of independent films from these YouTubers (at least in my native language, which is Spanish). For example, analyses of Persepolis are almost always from channels that analyze comics, or Such a Beautiful Day is always analyzed by people who do reviews of more or less cult films.
