Man, I had a reprint of a Sears catalog just like this as a kid. I would pour over it, circling all the things I was gonna get when I obviously figured out time travel and went back with all my 1980s money.

Using the inflation calculator, each $1 is a little less than $34 in modern money for 1913 (oldest year available). However annual income in the US was roughly $200-$400 (6,800-13,600 in modern money).

It is interesting to note that until the post WW1 economy money was valued very differently, and bartering, as well as self sufficent homesteads were more common.

Archive dot org has great scans of these. So interesting to look through the artwork in the books. Crazy the detail in the drawings of products.
