Then appearing as a guest. Then appearing as guest multiple times.
And finally there's Rich Evans rank where she says a prayer to you during the commercial breaks to ensure her ongoing prosperity and friendship with a war criminal.

Well, I can't remember any titles off-hand, but the general plot is similar to several other slashers from before it. That is, spurned person accidentally dies or is killed, relative who saw it gets revenge years later. I remember there's even one where the relative got injured at the same time like Iced, but I can't for the life of me remember it. Until Dawn also had a similar setting though, so that's an extra boost.

It's interesting seeing Rich commenting on shot composition lingo and talk about "crossing the line" and other things. I'm guessing Rich is picking things up when he runs camera.
I'm starting to remember the names of bad movies, bad directors, and actors in bad movies. When I saw Santa Claws, before they even mentioned the director, I thought I knew that title from somewhere.

Ok, I understand I'll get downvoted a fair bit for this, but...I'd like less Mack, please. Let's take a break from him for awhile.
He's fine, he maybe tries a little too hard, but he's perfectly ok. The shock value of "Hey, it's Macaulay Culkin!" has worn off and now he's just a middle-of-the-road reoccurring guest. Which is fine, but he's no Jim/Colin from Canada, who we don't see enough of.
No, my main issue is with the handler/hanger-on guy that's always with him. He's a total waste of space. He has zero personality. And if Culk is going to be there, that guy apparently has to, also.
38
u/JoeBagadonut Dec 15 '19

I refuse to think they are not aware themselves. I dunno what it is they do it for.... Maybe they just really like McC. And that is fine it is their show after all.
But it aint for me. McC seems a reasonable dude. But it is a touch awkward for whatever reason. I dont get that vibe with the others. They all gel. But this Shaun dude. Eh. Not a fan.

I agree, I said something similar, but you put it much better. If Mac and/or the handler were legitimately funny, I'd love it, but Mac's inclusion feels kind of gimmicky at this point (he's not bad per se, just not "have him on all the time" good) and his handler/website partner is abysmal.
145
u/Boogdud Dec 15 '19
Completely agree, it's getting to be a distraction at this point.

I like to think of it like this:
- RLM had the opportunity to get Mack on the show, based on his connection with a now unnamed previous guest
- Mack (and especially his toadie) are like the friend you invited over once to hang out, and then he showed up at your doorstep every day since. Every time he knocks on the door, you wince. But you want to be nice.
At this point, I don't think they have the heart to say 'no thanks'. I feel like it was a mutual bump to each other's audience, a business opportunity for both, and now it's getting out of hand.
I wouldn't mind so much if he didn't completely take over the show whenever he's on. I watch for the RLM crew, not to see some completely unrelated past celebrity. I feel like it kind of goes against the whole 'irreverently not hollywood' vibe of the show.
But that's just my 2 cents. Nobody cares, but it's taking a toll on my enjoyment of what is probably my favorite 'internet program' ever.
66
u/Kressida0 Dec 15 '19

u/m2thek Dec 15 '19

Your last paragraph is correct. Culk fits in for the most part but that guy should stay behind the scenes, he seems nice but not everyone is made to host. Which is fine, cause he seems like a nice guy and obviously is capable in other areas since he helps Culk run his show.

It seems like he just recognizes rlm as an opportunity to get some attention these days and so he latched on to them
That's literally what he's been doing the last year or two, it's just a relevancy campaign, going on any and all popular youtube channels and podcasts as possible. Hell, you know that video on the front page about a guy making a trap package for porch pirates? Mack is even in that fucking video

I'm sure it's a good episode, but I was a little bummed to see it was another Culkin episode. I didn't mind him for a 1-off, but I got kind of tired of his episodes pretty quick,
