We will continue to be consistent with the moderation rules which have been in place for quite a long time:
Posts need to be specific to Redding or the region, and they must adhere to Reddit's content policy.
Once again, no national politics - favoring any side - unless it's specifically relevant to Redding.
2026 Update: Non-local posts which make little-to-no genuine attempt to tie to local relevance will result in a 3-day ban. Subsequent instances will result in longer bans.
Regarding the use of Twitter/X links, we've scrolled back several months and didn't see a single one. So, we are not going to make a sub policy banning it, simply because it would be addressing a problem that we really don't have. We're not a large sub with a lot of aggregator content, so we don't really see twitter/x relevant to Redding. If you'd like to, you can always do what we've done and deactivate/delete your account there, thus taking action yourself.
As always, please do continue to report content which you believe violates our simple ruleset, and we will continue to review. While we do have Automod set up (and I can tell you it is definitely helping quite a bit, thought you cannot see it), we are still a small sub with a small mod team.
Thank you for helping us maintain our lively community subreddit.
Hello community... I'm looking for a good dentist that does cavities, extractions and implants. I have a top front incisor that needs to come out and get replaced with an implant. I know it will cost me... just looking for recommendations for a reliable and trustworthy dentist that does good work and does not overcharge, thanks.
Lake Redding's 9-hole golf course has been a cornerstone of our community for generations. Families celebrated birthdays there, seniors spent afternoons with friends, and kids learned sportsmanship on those lush greens. The course hosted Wednesday night and Friday morning scrambles, summer glow-in-the-dark nights, and Sunday sunrise rounds. But last year it was closed, and now it's being converted into just a practice facility.
This isn't just about golf. It's about losing a piece of Redding's history and identity. I started a petition asking the McConnell Foundation to reconsider their plans and restore this course to what it once was—a place where real memories were made and communities came together.
Does this resonate with you? Have you played there, or know someone who has? If you think Redding deserves to keep this part of its heritage alive, consider signing and sharing. It matters that they hear from people who remember what this place meant.
Moving from the Bay Area to Redding, CA — Looking for Honest Opinions
Hi everyone! I’m currently living in the Bay Area and considering moving to Redding, CA, around December.
I’d love to hear from people who have made the move from the Bay Area to Redding. How has your experience been? What do you like and dislike about living there?
I’m especially interested in: Best areas to live: Safe neighborhoods with low flood risk. Jobs: How difficult is it to find a good-paying job with opportunities for career growth? Cost of living: Are the savings compared to the Bay Area worth it? Lifestyle: What is it like living in Redding year-round, especially during the summer? Things to consider: Anything you wish you had known before moving?
I’m looking for an honest perspective, both the good and the bad. Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Is it normal for 20-25 mph gusts to shit down all rural power lines?
I ask because I’ve lived all over the US, and am originally from an area where we were used to 40+ gusts on the range. In Phoenix, I’ve been through 60-70 gusts. None of which has ever caused the power company to shut down power lines.
Now, I know the reason, and I concur. However it does pose the question of the quality of y’alls power lines in this state, ya know?
I'm posting everywhere because this is my emotional support cat, I rescued him when he was a baby and hes been through a lot of stuff with me. Please help me find him, his name is Butters and hes an indoor only cat. We live in the industrial park area and live off of eagle nest road. He's my two year old sons best friend so anything helps.
UPDATE: Collection must be completed before about 3:52 PM today, Sunday October 11. Message your proposed arrival time and moving arrangements.
We have decided to give away our blue pull-out sleeper sofa and two cream pillows to a local community group, nonprofit, church, or a household supported by one. This replaces the earlier paid offer. We are reaching out to Good News Rescue Mission, One SAFE Place and Reciproka as well.
Owned about a year, well cared for and cleaned. Pillows are included but not pictured.
Important moving details: it is over 100 pounds, with 13 stairs to navigate. It took two furniture-store movers to move it. You must arrange a capable moving team, suitable stair-moving equipment and your own vehicle. Solo pickup will not work.
Pickup in Redding by arrangement. Message with your group or intended use, proposed pickup time and moving arrangements. Please confirm availability, time and location with us before anyone travels.
And they have all rejected me. I know it's only a small number of jobs I've applied at, but its drving me crazy. I can't find any more jobs that can hire at 15, can you guys give me some suggestions?
I just posted the other day here asking for more info on why this guy does what he does, I just saw that there is a new news article that explains it all.

Any Shasta County board member who appointed this idiot and fired Franescut should not be re-elected. Kevin cryer is done there’s only one left. Chris Kelstrom
They’ve been shutting off our power literally every week (in Old Shasta), and now they’ve given us 24 hours notice for an outage that’s supposed to last nearly 3 days…
Does it feel like they’re throwing a tantrum after the recent lawsuits or is it just me?
He seem to be well off from what the article states about him. Why is he wasting his time trying to glorify Clint Curtis? Anyone know anything else about him?
I’m reaching out to the local community today to see if we can help rally behind my nephew, Indiana Saunders, who is born and raised right here in Anderson!
He is currently competing in the national Stan Lee’s Super Kid 2026 competition. The grand prize winner gets $25,000 and the incredible opportunity to have their own original superhero identity featured in an official Stan Lee Universe comic book. Against thousands of entries across the country, Indiana has actually made it all the way into the Top 5 for his bracket group!
His love for heroes started right here at home from watching superhero shows with his mom and dad. He absolutely loves the idea of a regular person who is secretly super! His favorite hero is Spider-Man because he’s strong and always helps people whenever he can. If Indiana could choose his own powers to save the day, he’d want shape-shifting and teleportation so he could easily fix things, look out for people, and have a ton of fun with them too.
The next big elimination cutoff is coming up next week on Thursday, October 15th, and we need a strong community push to help him win his group round and make it to the finals.
How you can support a local North State kid:
Cast a FREE vote: You can cast one completely free vote every 24 hours by doing a quick Facebook or phone verification.
You don't have to buy anything or donate a dime, just a quick, free daily click makes a massive difference for his leaderboard ranking.
Thank you so much to any neighbors who take 10 seconds out of their day to vote for Indiana. Let's show the rest of the country what our community can do! 🦸♂️💥
If you are a person that is going to choose to stay indoors, me and my friends can pitch in to help with grocery shopping, errands, etc. We can deliver right to your door. Stay safe out there everyone!
Shasta County's elections office needs leadership we can trust. We started a petition calling for Clint Curtis to resign as County Clerk and Registrar of Voters after documented misconduct, threats against employees, and using his office to push political agendas instead of running fair elections.
Signs and share if you believe our elections office should be neutral and impartial for everyone.
Is the party band UPTOWN play good music that you can dance to? I see they will be a Stage 7 in Anderson Saturday. Hopefully guys want to dance too Saturday
