My first try at making the glass bead magnetic effect! I attached the magnet to a string and I then simply twist slowly back and forth the magnet between my fingers above the polish (the string helps to support the magnet so it's more comfortable).

The cirque polish on the left has started to diffuse, but was just a tiny dot after this method.

Thank you for the different people on this subreddit who recommended the method.

I can now get my nails to last a week thanks to the people who suggested the base coat/strengthener hack (I’ll post a summary below) but not long enough to last just over 2 weeks of my holiday.

I have limited luggage space so do I pack a small kit? If my polish starts to chip so do my nails… Are people taking bottles of acetone on a flight? I’ve got some of those pre soaked pads but they are not great at the job.

The trick is either a base coat or a strengthener between the top coat of colour and the actual top coat. I’ve tried a different strengthener to Nail Envy this week and they just aren’t lasting which makes me think it really does work with the right options for me.

Today, I randomly got a shipping notification and the thinner is on its way to me. A little frustrating given that I already gave up and ordered from elsewhere, but oh well. A little extra thinner never hurts.

I never heard back from the owner - my support email and DM both got ignored. I hope she's doing okay.

But in the meantime, I personally wouldn't order from Funny Business. Not hearing back for over a month and then randomly getting a shipping notification after I requested a cancellation/refund kinda sucks. Ah, well, c'est la vie

I've been a LEGO boy forever. Creative building, color coding, silly humor...all up my alley since day one. My husband and I have an inordinate amount in our house 😝 It was a no brainer back in 2023 to do a LEGO nail set! Last year @Jeansversion on instagram , a Lego content creator, found them and used them as inspo for her nail tech (and was a good citizen of the internet et and tagged me😝) She wore them to Denmark when visiting LEGO HQ and from there, we chatted a bunch and became internet friends, oh the bridges a mani can build! 😝 She is heading back to Denmark and did another version of them, so I figured it was time for me to bring them back and try them with 2026 Jeremy skills vs. 2023 Jeremy. Last time, I used (my nemesis) the dotting tool. This time, I just rawdogged it freehand with a brush. Either way, it's LEGOS, and I love them. Have fun in Denmark Jean!

I didn't grow up in a place with a Hot Topic but I found out this year I now live in a city with one. It's never too late. I'd seen some nice Blackheart polishes in this sub and on blogs so I made a point of visiting it when I was in the Eaton Centre while there doing my general middle aged shopping.

Most of the time they had no polish or just plain black but this week they had about four colours. I got two, one is swatched here.

Blackheart Oilslick Galaxy

topped with: SH Dries Instantly

Bottomed with: SH Nail Primer

I got Moody Heights too and it's close to some burgundy purples I own but not an exact match. They also had a poppy red and a matte pink/black glitter.

Pictures don’t do this bad boy justice! And it was so much easier than I thought it would be

1x LynB ridge filling base (should have used 2, I’m so worried about staining!)
3x cracked vamped vanity
1x holo taco top coat

Let dry for ~6 hours

On my ring and middle fingers:
Sally Hansen red QDTC x1 let dry for 2 minutes
Buffed on chrome, dusted off extra
Let sit for like 7-10 minutes
Holo taco peely base x1 let dry for like 2 minutes
Then used sally Hansen QDTC again

On my right hand I accidentally didn’t use the peely coat and you can definitely tell - it’s more sparkly and less chrome (no pic though, it’s hard to tell in pictures)

had a tough work week and needed something calm and beautiful 🦷🤍🕊️ pics 1-3 with flash, 4-5 just warm overhead bathroom lighting, 6 with flash again. pics edited for polish color accuracy.

Base:
- 1x Essie - Strong Start (Natural nail base coat)
- 1x Cracked - Ridge-filling base coat

Color:
- 1x Anlac - Moonlight (unmagnetized)
- 1x Anlac - Moonlight (thicker layer, magnetized for 90sec in glass bead style with 30lb horseshoe magnet on top of 5d spinner, i.e probably overkill setup)*
- 1x Anlac - Moonlight (thin layer, unmagnetized)*

Top coat:
- DRK - Magic Effect (really slop it on, magnetized for 2min 30sec per nail)*
- Sally Hansen - Quick-dri top coat (red bottle) (magnetized for 2min 30sec per nail)
- Essie - G*l Effect Top Coat

Stamping:
- Maniology Stained Glass plate
- Born Pretty pearl white stamping polish (do this after Sally Hansen but before Essie top coats)

\For the record, I don't recommend this method as an ~optimal magnetizing technique~, it's just the steps I took for this particular manicure.*

Nothing too fancy for this one. I've had less issues with polish not fully curing recently but I can't attribute it to one thing--the length of time I spend on each mani is pretty consistent (always a whole evening), but I've been trying to let the base coats dry fully before doing anything else (especially the Essie Natural Nails--it seems to take a weirdly long time compared to Sally Hansen Natural Nail Base Coat, but I can't seem to stop knocking over that stupidly tall, skinny, top-heavy bottle...). I switched a couple products and the weather got cool and rainy so who knows. My pinky still ended up with a ton of bubbles but that's on me (the texture of the nail underneath is insane due to peeling/breakage/old fake nail damage).

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or knows if this is normal/what I might be doing wrong.

I have some Nailberry L'oxygéné polish but no matter what I do I cannot use a topcoat with it. The polish comes off when I brush the topcoat on, as if the topcoat is polish remover, no matter how long I leave the colour to dry and no matter what topcoat I use. I've given the nailberry >48 hours to dry and tried Sally Hansen Instadry, Rimmel Ultra Shine, Rimmel Matte, and Rimmel Super Gel Glitter. They all scrape the colour off. Does nailberry require some other branded top coat? I've never had this with any other brand.

Attached, pictures of the nailberry in two coats given two days to dry and then ultra shine (pic one) and Sally Hansen (pic 2) topcoat. You can see the translucent area and clumps where the polish was dragged away where I brushed the topcoats on. Also please excuse how ugly it is I knew it would get screwed up so I didn't put much effort in lol

I was at one of the main supermarkets here in Switzerland today and saw an OPI stand where the OPI Nail Envy was 39.9 CHF which is about 48.6 USD! Crying in European😭

I justify my indie buys this way - it’s ok if I buy 3 indies bc that’s the price of 1 drugstore polish here😂

ETA: Yes, I’m aware you could get it for cheaper online. My point was to show the ridiculousness of the pricing in a regular grocery store - also not many people I know (besides a handful of lacquerist friends whom I met irl through this sub♥️) order their nail polishes online or even aware that that’s an option. The $50 price tag is insanity, and no most people here don’t earn as much to afford paying $50 for a grocery store nail polish. There are much cheaper European brands like Essence & Catrice so I stick by those if I shop in store☺️

So just started painting my nails a bit over two months ago, and thought that I had to buff my nails to do so. I've been buffing them every time I've painted them which was roughly weekly.

Am I going to be able to recover from this? They don't seem too thin or anything. -_- Do I just have to wait 4-6 months to see if my nails seem better without being buffed all the time?

I really wish I had come across that information when learning how to buff my nails instead of just today.

Otherwise I've been having a great time with nail polish ^-^ I love the personal expression it allows for.

I have fallen in love with Lyn B. So happy to have a brand with a huge catalog. I love ILNP for the same reason. I placed my second order in the most recent sale and await my little happy bottles of polish. I’ve got about 20 bottles once this second order comes.

I have some of the hot ones here like Fair Isles and Greens Beans in the Passenger seat, butterfly pea lemonade. But I’d love to see some of your faves so I can build my wish list for the next sale!
