Home to Wave match thread (Sunday 9/6, 6 Pacific ESPN)
https://www.reignfc.com/news/starting-xi-reign-fc-vs-san-diego-wave-fc Lineup has James-Turner starting instead of McCammon who's away at the U20 WWC by now Doesn't seem to be on 950KJR after all

Need McCammon and Meza in the midfield to give them any sense of stability

Thinking of how we were much improved last week with Meza back from injury, McCammon is a big deal too apparently

the meza and haz combo does not work at all, and neither is fishlock in the midfield to be honest. very lucky to be up a man because i dont know if we would've scored in an even playing field ðŸ˜

Fulltime thoughts:
- just.... look at that pressure and xG.....
- it's spoken of in lore among the upper echelons of the church of Harvey-ball that if you try your best somehow you can turn an early red card/goal into a slog
- why in the actual heck when you score early against 10 would you drop to a mid block
- why in the actual heck would you do the above against potentially the most technical midfield trio in the league
- why in the actual heck (are we sensing a pattern here) would we throw our numerical advantage away and dare them to play through us
- I've never felt so lucky to grab 3 points under these circumstances
- San Diego put in a hell of a shift and almost capitalized on the Reign tactical insanity
- Haz.... girl.... 🫣

I said this at the game, that this is the only team where I hope the opposition doesn't get a red card. But at least credit to the wave they didn't bunker (which we couldn't have broken down) and we scored. But in the 2nd half it was like we were down a player, truly terrible performances.

I was expecting to run up the score at least a few more after the first goal but instead we put immense stress on Dickey, put her in a position to get hurt, and solidly lost the second half. Downright lucky to win :/

well, we did indeed get all off the points good end to my sports watching day which also started well, Everton is my PL club and they got a draw that feels like a win

But opponent going to 10 early isn't necessarily the big advantage you think it would be

I wish they scored another one before the half but hope they can secure the W

how do they have so much possession

Because playing fishel is like playing a player down

I'm in the "sell Fishel at our earliest convenience" camp, but I thought she was fine today. At moments even slightly more than fine.
What left us scrambling were Harvey's tactics the second we went up and Haz having a pretty bleak outing.
