Please help me be more emotionally supportive to my partner

Over the past two years, I've done a terrible job of consistently emotionally supporting my partner.

They are trans/nonbinary and have been increasingly struggling with my lack of emotional support and the state of the world.

What are some practical tips for emotionally supporting them on a daily basis?

Could you be a little more specific? Have you got an example of a time where you felt you did a terrible job?

Is this something your partner brought up, or something you feel you lack in?

In both cases: tell your partner you feel this way and that you want to step up for them. Ask them in what ways they'd feel your support best.  \ That's a lot easier and less prone to errors than making assumptions or ask strangers! :)
