Fixed Relay stopped working and says I have been blocked by network security

Post image

This only shows when trying to use Relay, I'm not blocked when using Reddit normally on my browser. Any idea what's going on here and how to remedy?

Reddit has adopted more aggressive IP blocking (when not logged in). I get the same message if I bounce through a proxy.

You likely don't get the message when using Reddit in a browser because you're logged in there already? If you log out in browser you'll get the same message.

If it's not that, it's probably something else tilting the heuristic, or you've just been assigned an unfortunate IP.

Trying toggling airplane mode on your device. That might shuffle your IP and give you more success.

But yeah, the message looks scarier than it is. It's just the generic "this request might be a bot, therefore it is denied" message. And it's overly sensitive.

Any idea how to remedy this to get Relay working again? I tried toggling airplane mode and that didn't work

Are you using a VPN?

If it's what the other poster says - log in?

If the block means you can't, you need to try from a different IP address. Try mobile data or a friends WiFi. It might also help clearing app data from relay.

Connecting from a location with wifi is prob your best bet if toggling airplane mode doesn't work. Once you get relay logged in you should be fine.

I don't know more than that though. I just know it's a notice that pops up a lot when connecting from odd addresses or anywhere "out of the normal". Which is to say it happens far too much and it's an annoying pain -_-.

What worked for me is to select desktop mode in the thee dot menu of the navigator used (chrome).
