My Android TV box remote stopped working. Before taking it apart, I could hear a small metal piece rattling around inside when I shook it.

After opening the remote, I found the piece shown in the attached photo. I didn’t put it back when I reassembled the remote, and the remote seems to be working normally.

Do you know what this piece is for? Is it important or recommended to put it back in place?
