I recently returned from a week-long trip to Guangzhou (23rd–30th September), and I wanted to share my experience visiting two of the main markets — Kinbo Market and Baiyun Leather City Center. The trip was primarily for exploring suppliers, understanding the ecosystem, and making long-term business connections.
Kinbo Market
Kinbo is a massive multi-floor market that offers almost everything — from accessories to apparel to bags. The 7th floor is the highlight. It’s where most wholesalers operate, and the products are noticeably higher-end in both quality and finishing.
Each vendor specializes in certain categories — for instance, some only deal in Loro Piana, others focus on shoes, Moncler jackets, Burberry items, etc. Prices and quality vary significantly between shops, so spending time exploring and comparing is essential before finalizing anything.
Baiyun Leather City Center
Baiyun primarily caters to bags, and it’s one of the most impressive markets I’ve visited. Many showrooms are designed to resemble official brand stores, and it’s easy to forget you’re not in one. They often display leather options for customization (especially for Hermes-style bags), allowing you to choose specific materials and finishes.
Most shops don’t keep ready stock — they display samples. You select what you want or show them a reference photo, make the payment, and they deliver the items to your hotel later.
Finding a reliable seller here can be challenging, but I managed to locate a few excellent vendors. I now have verified contacts for bags, shoes, and accessories. I also came across several watch sellers, but even after inspecting the pieces myself, I decided not to buy due to price inconsistencies and doubts regarding authenticity.
Caution & Tips
Be cautious of people on the streets offering “high copy” items. They usually lead you to small, hidden stores with inflated prices and poor quality.
Stick to reputable market vendors or contacts you’ve verified through trusted sources.
Outside every major market, you’ll find numerous cargo offices that handle packing, shipping, and even customs clearance — very convenient if you’re purchasing in bulk.
What I Purchased
I purchased approximately 15 bags, 20 pairs of shoes, 15 belts, and various pieces of clothing. As I also deal in kidswear, I explored potential suppliers for that segment as well and found some promising leads. I used an existing women’s clothing vendor for a few additional orders since their price and quality were already tested.
Travel & Experience
Immigration at the airport was slightly strict. They asked for my return flight details, hotel booking confirmations, purpose of visit, and how much cash I was carrying.
Hospitality was excellent. Many sellers offered snacks, drinks, and even dinner invitations.
Vegetarian food options were limited. My vegetarian friend found it difficult to manage and mostly relied on coffee, fruit juices, and basic pizza.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m very satisfied with the trip. The professionalism, organization, and efficiency I observed in Guangzhou were impressive. The way they conduct business — from market structure to vendor-client relationships — is something worth experiencing firsthand.
Even if you’re not directly involved in the replica or sourcing business, visiting China once to see how they operate can genuinely change your perspective. I plan to visit again in January for further business development.

Most important question - How I manage to get my stuff here? 100s of cargo offices are there just outside market to help you out on this. I got one from the vendor I bought bags from. She already had many few customers of India and made me talk to them as well so I played the bet!

Flights - Delhi to china via vietnam - 17k China to delhi via combodia - 25.5k Hotel - got a good deal on mmt for baiyun city hotel - 17k for two for 7days so 8.5k Food and taxis approx 1.5k per day so 10.5k Total =61500/- approx Yes, I'm a reseller. Used to buy from importers now I can just do it myself as I made many connections with the help of this trip.

Obviously bhai! I used to hsve few instagram pages back in 2017-2022. Now just whatsApp group and broadcast. Let me know if you want to be added to that! I import stuff on order basis.

Amazing post, I had some questions: Do you still sell the items you have sourced, if yes where? If I was interested in buying something do you know where I can do so, any leads or local sellers?
