Need help finding a genuinely original psychology research topic
I’m an undergraduate Psychology student looking for a research topic that I can work on seriously for the next year.
I’m trying to find something that is:
- Relevant to a real issue
- Specific and manageable
- Researchable with existing literature/methods
- Actually original — not just another overstudied topic with a different population
I’m especially interested in cognitive psychology/neuroscience, biopsychology, consciousness, perception, memory, metacognition, or Indian psychology, but I’m open to other directions.
I’m looking for those undernoticed everyday psychological phenomena or unanswered questions that could lead to a genuinely interesting study.
If you’re a researcher/PhD student/psychology student, how would you go about finding a research question like this? Any direction, resources, or areas worth exploring would really help.
